  • never felt much of a butt workout from squats- and I remeber squatting abotu 100 pounds free wieghts as a teenager and still never felt it. 600 on the machines and its all quads for me. the best work outs I got for butt was with back raises witha different range of motion, I cant rememebr hte names of them off hand but ill come back to comment

  • Finaly somebody who takes advantage of the best exercises on earth rather than building a workout on exercises which work one muscle at a time... Also No it doest if you use correct form then you will not hurt your knees..

  • If you're going to do deep squats like that you ought to elevate your heels, just place a plate or piece of stripwood under the heel of your shoe, to prevent damage to the knee joint.

    above parallel has all the stress stay on the knees

  • That is why you focus on using your leg muscles to do most of the job. Don't focus on how your knees hurt focus on the muscle and lift yourself with the thighs as much as possible.

  • no it isnt dude i have a pain in my knee that tweeks from almost any attivity and stuff like squats and lunges dont

  • make sure anytime you do these exercises your knees dont go out past your toes, that should help your knees

  • squats, lunges, step ups should be safe for the knees if done properly.

  • yyourface, did you figure out why your knees werent "strong" is it problems with your quads, hamstrings, past knee injuries? some people even have knee caps that sit too high because of overworking their quads that can cause knee pain, etc. its usually not your "knees" that are weak but muscles that support and surround it, you might be keeping yourself from beneficial workouts that coudl actualyl help protect your knees.

  • @Blenderate Theres a big difference between a squat with 5lb dumbells and one with a 300lb bar. One of these things will kill your knees. Going deep on squats is fine...if you're a girl with super low weight!

  • Not everyday, you need to give your muscles a day off for growth. If you do it everyday your muscle growth will be terrible as your muscles will not be given the rest they need to heal and grow.

  • what are reps?

  • Reps are repetitions...when you hear 3 sets of 15 reps= 15 repetitions 3 times with a small break in between them.

  • reps mean like if someone says to 12 reps then they mean do 12 of whatever work out is is.

    Like if i say do 12 reps of pushups then that means do 12 push ups.

  • a rep is short for repitition it means you repeat that number of moves for however many times
