  • Dude there was just a pro Obama ad on this video! lol I love your videos enough to sit thru a Pro Obama ad, that's saying ALOT : )

  • Hey Nutnfancy I have a question if you have time, i would really enjoy your opinion I was looking to either purchase the Fenix LD20 Or 5.11 Tactical ATAC L2 Can you help me choose? Im just looking for a handy EDC torch

  • Thanks for the review......

  • Why are you wearing gloves to demo this? I just ordered the Fenix TK41 and a Maha C9000 to keep my eneloops fresh.

  • Hi, so you like strong lites!

So do I ifound a small flash lite on the net roughly the same as what you are showing there but 1000 lumms. At a cost of $265 If you would like the link pm me :)

  • Hey nutn I asked my sis to order one for me I cant wait till I get it.

  • My LD20 finally crapped out after only about 3 years of use. The light just stopped working and Fenix only offers a 2 year warranty. I just picked up a Surefire E2DL and it has a lifetime warranty. As much as I want a good, reliable 2xAA flashlight, the LD20 just isn't it.

  • @clandr80

2 years ? i have mine for 2 years and still have 3 years of warranty !

somebody i know still changes his l2d for a new one every year :P (3 times now)

  • I mount this thing on my helmet for the paved mountain bike trails... in the pitch black parts of the ride.... its like I have a car headlight! Amazing... wish it was rechargable. Does die out after 2 hours full blast

  • light travels faster in air than water!!!!!

  • for the ld20 you are actualy NOT suppose to use rechargeable batteries because it can cause damage to the light

  • @2004400exguy According to both the website and the manual, Ni-MH rechargeable cells are fine. The problem is with lithium ion rechargeables, which operate at 4.2v max (as opposed to the 1.2-1.5v max of regular AA cells). Since the circuitry is designed for 2xAA, that means it is designed to operate in the input range of 2-3 volts (alkalines are generally pretty dead below 1v per cell).

So these types are fine: Alkaline, NiMH (eg. Eneloop), LiFeS (eg. Energizer Lithium), ZnC, NiCd.

  • i have a question for anyone that could answer this could this fit in blue jean pockets?

  • @MrTrevor117 yes but in some pockets it might stick out a bit.

also consider the ld10, the little brother of this one.

  • This review is 2 years old. Is the Fenix LD20 still the best value out there for a AA powered flashlight?

  • @FloridaRaider nope. Fenix really needs to update the ld/pd line. other manufacturer have surpassed them. It is still a good light if you already own one but not if you're buying new. Look at nutn's 4sevens vids. Right now imo they offer the best bang for the buck and they have amazing CS. Another place to look for info is cpf (google it)

  • could you mount this light? I dont see a diameter size listed for the light?

  • i never bought a surefire before, the name fenix just sounds better to me. surefire sounds like itll overheat and cause a surefire.

  • @leukotic surefires are garbage. also....do NOT call a superior maker "off-brand"

  • @mlgprotipsy surefires are like mercedez benz, expensive, luxurious, nice, classy, but not the best value.

  • only 5 left in stock on amazon! i just bought 1 so should be only 4 left!

  • Just nextday aired this bad boy, can't wait.

  • Hey Nutn, did you ever find the one you lost? Great review by the way, as usual. I am still trying to decide between the 123 or the AA version. Once I have the money I will make my final decision then.

  • Great review, thanks! i'm about to buy LD20, which one would you recommend to chose, the one with Cree XP-G R5 or Cree 7090 XR-E Q5 ?

  • Love the light in the water.

  • Just bought the LD20. Great light, Thanks for another great review. Again you cost me money!!!!

  • @spikekrossa He shows us the quality gear so we dont go off and buy the crap gear that will break and fail. So, he saves us money :). I also have the ld20 and ld10, both great lights. I highly recommend the white diffuser tip if you camp/hike, makes a great lantern :)

  • @weez82 I totally agree. Have both, red + white, also when bicycling. Hint: You can hide some extra batteries in the diffusors.

  • you know you'd have more time if you didn't keep talking about it...

  • @macca202 Yeah, he'd probably free up months of free time if he didn't talk about how busy he was. Right. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy how do replace the button module...they have replacement switches on optics planet ..they call it a LxD module i can't find any instuctions with the switch when it came in the mail????

  • @nutnfancy Sorry about the method of contact. PLEASE advise me on the best EDC light. My options (what I can get in the UK to my knowledge) are: Fenix LD20 Premium Q5 Fenix LD10 LED Lenser T7/Police Tech Focus etc Streamlight Stylus Pro Surefire E2DL, G2, G2 LED, 6P LED Def etc A number of others not worth mentioning (aa Maglite etc) I want a light that is durable, reliable, <£100, high output. I don’t mind weight. Can you recommend any of these or suggest something else? Many thanks! ~Agent
  • ok you sold me, I'm gunna get one, Thanks again Nuttn, thanks for all of your hard work bro :)

  • Hey Nutn, I’ve gone thru 2 LD20’s and both have crapped out on me after no more than 2/3 months. I only use the lights for simple tasks, walking the dogs and EDC carry. With that said I don’t really trust the LD20 series of lights, any other you would recommend?

  • @ArmedCivilian556 What have you done to yours? i picked mine up a few months ago and used it a fair amount and even dropped it and it stil runs great.

  • @snowboarddude117 Dude no lie this is my second LD20, all I used this 2nd light for was walking the dogs at night that is it. My stream light stylist pro has been dropped, kicked, thrown, you name it and it still keeps on ticking. You could not have babied this light any more than I did, except leaving in the box and never using it.

I love the light but not if its gonna crap out on me, especially just walking my dogs........

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Well thats definatley weird.

  • @snowboarddude117 You know it and the worse part is I’m disabled and can't afford to put out the cash for a light that may or may not last 2 months......... really suck

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Is the tailcap ring fully tightened down?

That is the likely the problem. Because you can chase the threads and clean the contacts at the end of the body/head for electrical conductivity easily.

The switch should be reliable, and lastly an electronics fault.

  • @SparkDischarge on the second LD20 I ensured before using the lige that everything was as it should be, even when the light went dead I checked the batteries in another light and it worked fine. I love the Fenix lights especially the LD20 I have no clue what went wrong but I'm very disappointed

  • My biggest complaints about the off-brand flashlights:

    - Reverse clicky. Surefire must have a patent on forward clickies, as they are infinitely superior in every way.

    - Multimode. How incredibly annoying! Especially the strobe.

    - Recessed button. I prefer a nice large button sticking out on the end of my flashlight

    - Lack of CR123 usage. I prefer CR123 for their small size, power and reliability.

Surefire FTW. No retarded multimode crap, forward clicky, CR123, big buttons and reliable.

  • why are you wearing gloves?

  • @pietroamoroso His hands are dirty

  • great little light. thanks nutnfancy. just one thing....looks like in your video you have the "Q5"...i got the R5. has no "orange peel" reflector, comes with a clip and holster, and my low setting doesnt seem to go that low. i.e no difference between low and medium. i'm gonna have to check with fenix about that. but great light.

  • @hiperpaiz If you are using Lithium AA batteries then the light will do this until voltage drops down to around 1.6 volts which is what a standard Alkaline AA is. At least that is what my Q5 does...

  • @hiperpaiz haha mine is the R4 and it has no orange peel either. I believe as nutn said in his video these lights are just constantly changing and evolving

  • Well I spoke to soon about getting this light and as well as I loved my old fenix that got lost to a friend I had to go with the quark aa2 R5 light. Not only does it have a huge backing by many flashaholics and is recommend by then over this light but it has many features over the fenix like a moon light function that lasts 30 days, are you serious??? Thats crazy!!!!! It comes with a better cree led bulb too so it was a no brainer for me. Oh I can't forget the 10 year warranty too.

  • Once again as always you pull through and give a excellent review. I let a friend barrow my L2D and he lost it so I'll be getting the slightly improved LD20. I had the green version of the L2D and love it just wished the LD20 came in the color but black will do. One question the you could answer or someone else could on here, is the button on both interchangeable as I love the orange. I used the L2D in many situation and it never did fail me, its such a wonderful product and company.

  • Love the color on the L2D, wish the LD20 came in that.

  • Wow man, last couple of months I've been watching a lot of reviews of a lot of very different kinds of products & self-made stuff, but THIS ONE is really awesome! At first I thought:"WTF? 37 minutes of talk on a fucking flashlight?!" But I watched it all, and wasn't bored for a second! It's fast-paced, yet very understandable (I actually don't speak English as a native language), It's comprehensive, interesting, relevant, and the visuals are great! Close-ups look very clear. Best review ever!

  • Check out jetBeam BA20. 2xAA, 270 lumens, $35

  • @HammockerSam The Jetbeam 'B'ackup series are good, cheap two mode [bright] flashlights.

They are forward click, whereas typical utility lights are reverse click. Utility lights are appropriate for non-tactical adventures.

  • I'm currently looking for a decent sheath for this flashlight. I don't want to use the one that came with it 'cause it sems kinda flimsy (I also don't have it anymore tbh). Does anyone have a recommendation for that? It should attach to MOLLE/PALS webbing and allow for horizontal carry on a belt. I know Maxpedition has a variety of sheath but they all do not seem to fit it, judging from their website. Any recommendation would be much appreciated. Regards, kruemel

  • THANK you for this review! :)

  • can you use this light in structural firefighting? or would you recommend a different light?

  • @italianbroker1 I think FoxFury has a dedicated firefighting light, but with lithium batteries and by not using turbo, you shouldn't have an overheating problem.

  • con't. What I did was to tighten the ring by using a pincer to get a hold onto the ring with the 2 small holes on the ring itself.

I can foresee this problem arising again and would like to share it with owners of the LD20. It is good to tighten it after some time so as to ensure that it is running 100% and will work when the need arise.

  • Hi everyone. I own a LD20 R5, and I would like to share 2 problems that I encountered.

    1. I tried turning on the flashlight when I was in a commercial flight, and the light just won't function normally. It either will not turn on, or will not increase in brightness level.

    2. After about 20 rides with the LD20 as my bar mounted bicycle light, the tailcap switch started to malfunction. The problem was that the inner part of the switch ie. the ring around the spring came lose.

  • i plan to use this for hunting, do you think this is big enough?

  • @southerncountryboy8 get a pd30

  • @mustangfootball63 ok thanks

  • @southerncountryboy8 Probably not, if you need throw.

A TK15 or TK12 is more suitable for hunting.

  • great light, i got mine a year and a half ago and haven't had any problems at all. outstanding compared to pretty much all AA battery flashlights, just as you say - the everything light. after getting this light, i haven't even considered getting any others.

  • fenix tk35 REVIEW

  • SOLID LIGHT! Thanks NUTNFANCY! Good call on this light it's been in 5 countries in South America in 5 months being field tested! BAM! RUNNING STRONG!

  • does this come wit batteries too?

  • @AKcuracy nope

  • does anyone know whats better, the lampshade or the cone? i have not been able to find anything on the differences really.

  • @WarriorOfSIN I havent used the lampshade but I do have both the white and transparent differers tips (cones). Highly recommended! I find the white one works better then the transparent one for outdoor use. And just from looking at the pictures of the lampshade I would say that the white cone will work better than that too.

  • @WarriorOfSIN I have the lampshade. It throws the light off to the sides more than the cone does. I would compare it to the small, cheap, $5- LED lantern that Wal mart has in the camping aisle. It fits my Quark AA okay, but a little snug.

  • i just got this light today. when i got home, i figured i'd look online for some reviews to see if it's as good as it appears to be.

the fist hit for fenix ld20 was this vid!

i'm a long time fan of nutn', and have learned most everything i know about lights from his vids, but i hadn't seen this one.

you'd be proud to know that your fans can pick good products just because you have taught us well.

  • I prefer the selection of lumens/runtimes on L2D than LD20 myself. Both are great lights though and the LD20 has some improvements for definite. I have no reason to upgrade my trusty L2D whatsoever though and it would have to break for me to upgrade. After all, what is the point of aircraft grade alloy and 50,000 to 100, 000 hour Cree emitters if we play the upgrade game? I thought the whole point was a torch for life... or at least a long, LONG time? :/

  • Damn, guess I have go wait til tomorrow for mine to get here cause USPS doesn't run on sundays

  • Nutn, I purchased my Fenix LD20 with an Amazon gift cert I had left over from xmas. LOVING IT for EDC! I work nights at a restaurant and getting the garbage across the back parking lot in the middle of the night is now easier and safer for me. I appreciate the strobe mode as a non-lethal defensive measure especially due to my employer being anti-gun. Wading through the walk in freezer/fridge reading labels is now lightyears easier too because the single interior light in those boxes are no good.

  • This guy.

  • Definitely cool little lights.

  • Picked up a LD20 and im so confused as what model i have... Mine says LD20 PremiumR4... it has a pocket clip and it claims to have 205 lumens max... it has the pocket clip but its reflector is smooth..no orange peel at all... the fenix website says the LD20 now has a R5 but its max is only 180 lumens... which model do i have or when was it produced??

  • @snowboarddude117 The R5 is the latest model mate, the R4 the previous one. Both are actually 180 lumens in full power, but it is said that the R5 has an improved runtime.

  • Comment removed

  • My LD20 died when I needed it most. Night 5 of a 9-night hikethrough with 50lb packs...

Cooking dinner and the thing started flashing on-off-on-off and then never went on again...

Had to rely on my Preon 2 and Zebralight H501 for the rest of the journey ... luckily I had a few AAAs as well.

Getting it fixed on warranty this week, but lost a LOT of confidence in Fenix... Had an LD05 stop working on me too.

Might go with 4Sevens or Surefire from now on.

  • @QuiksiIver You had an LD20 AND an LD05 fail? Really??? I'd like to see video lol... I have both of those lights and especially the LD20 I've beaten the crap out of. It works like new. Maybe you just had a double fluke... Fenix lights are awesome 99.9 percent of the time just like 4sevens lights.

  • @QuiksiIver Flashing on/off sounds like the low battery indicator.

  • @SparkDischarge That is what I assumed, but it has never put out any lumens since regardless of batteries.

  • would not suggest using the strobe function while on a bike or scooter... If i was driving along and some clown on a bike or a scooter was flashing that thing at me i would go out of my way to run you over because i was disoriented by stupidity.

  • I got this light last year. And I love it. I bought this light after watching your review. (:

  • Flashlight experts, is this still the best flashlight for the money?

  • @FloridaRaider

It's still a very good light. If you consider to buy it, buy the updated R5 edition.

There are many lights out there at the same price, with same output and quality.

  • LD20 R5 problem: The Low output level does not work if you use Alkaline batteries in the LD20 R5. Neither the Low nor Medium output levels work if you use Lithium batteries in the flashlight. When I asked Fenix about this problem they indicated that this is "normal", and that you must use Ni-MH batteries for the flashlight to perform as advertised. Needless to say, I returned mine.

  • My LD20 flickers badly when I barely move the head piece. It flickers badly with normal use, even turns of completely. Some of the times it turns off completely it's hard to get it back on again.

Another thing is that the 1st dim position is the same brightness as the 2nd position. They told me this is "normal" with new batteries. Had they put that on their product description I would never have purchased the light. I've written in about the flickering, will keep posted on the response I get.

  • @furyofbongos sounds like the tail button insert has gotten loose.

i had the same thing, thought it was broken.

just unscrew the tailcap and insert 2 pens into the little holes to tighten the button insert thingy.

  • @Whisper6911 Thanks! I just tightened it and it still flickers.

  • I love the intro

  • @CLUM5Y They're Mechanix "The Original" Covert Gloves.

  • Nutnfancy, I really love this light! The Fenix LD20 has excellent output levels and great runtimes. However, I have one very important question: Do you lose low and medium mode on the LD20 when powering it with new lithium AA cells (they become as bright as high mode)?

  • @READComment1 My LD20 R4 does this with new Lithium Batteries. After a bit of use, once the batteries drain down to about 1.6 volts then you will get your low, med modes back.

  • @psalm143 Thanks for the reply psalm! How do you like you LD20? I just recently purchase a 4Sevens Quark AA2 (Regular) S2.

  • @READComment1

I love the LD20. I have used it for over a year and it is still working great. I run Lithium batteries in it so it can be an annoyance with losing the low and medium sometimes, but everything else is great. The 4Sevens Quark AA2 S2 Regular is an awesome light also. I have the Mini 123 (warm white) from Quark and it is a great light.

  • @psalm143 Nice! I was actually debating with myself (for weeks!!) on whether I should buy the LD20 or the Quark AA2. I considered ALL the pros and cons of both lights, but still could not decide! Anyways, I'm happy with my Quark, although, I would surely love to feel the LD20 in my hand (it has a very attractive design).

  • @READComment1

Cool! I have tried the Quark AA2, and I really liked the light. They are both excellent lights and I would be happy with either of them. One thing about the Quark is that you can purchase new emitter heads and lego them out off of 4Sevens website, as well as the switch (tactical or regular). Cool features, and the 4Sevens Warranty service is great too.

  • thanks for the great vid

  • I purchased an LD20 about 9 months ago based on this review. I had no idea flash lights had become so advanced. This light is so awesome that it never leaves my side. It is so versatile that I use it more than I've ever used a flash light before. Huge thanks Nutn. Keep up the great work.

BTW... Has one of the 4Seven lights replaced this as your favorite now? You seem to favor them lately.

  • You can now find the LD20 with an improved LED. The XP-G (R4) LED. Like he said, this product is constantly improving. The new XP-G is more efficient than the one in this video, so you get the same light but more burn time.

  • 4Sevens needs to make head-band and bicycle attachments or even a dedicated forehead lamp. If I want to go hands-free (and I do) I'm pretty much staying with Fenix.

  • Another good one is the Fenix E21, also AAx2. It's kind of the economy model. It's a bit chunkier than the LD20. It doesn't have that narrow part in the middle. E21 has two settings: medium and high (150 lumen) and is more of an area light than the LD20. Best part, the E21 is $38. I bought a couple to keep in the cars for emergencies or whatever.

  • All this Fenix LD20 needs is a moonlight setting to probably smoke the 4seven AA2 Quark. I dig the 4seven but only using the 2 settings programed sucks when you have 4 other light settings to choose from. The UI of the fenixs seems more user friendly especially if someone else, not familiar with it, is using your light.

  • whats the best flash light under $30 give me a list

  • @NFS13EPIC I'd say the Xeno E03 v2 neutral-white xp-g R5 $28

  • After watching this video on the LD20 for the 1000th time, I ended up ordering my own...

I just want to say this:

    nutnfancy... my VISA hates you!

    xD

  • i have the LD10 which is already awesome and just ordered fenixs new PD31 at an amazing 304 lumens!!!!

  • when this light runs out of batteries does it get dimmer and weaker or does it just not turn on?

  • @DaBossk all flashlights grow dim as the batteries die.

  • @ohnevergoingtoquit actually i bought it and it hasn't dimmed yet, as i'm still using the same batteries. i heard that it doesnt dim and just shuts off

  • would this be a good light to just leave in my car? like really cold cold weather in the winter, to really hot in the summer? does the bulb die?

  • great video review, you never seem to fail me when it comes to a high quality tactical videos, and reviews. you got me hooked.

i bought this flashlight as a Christmas gift for my self, unfortunately i have barley used the light in outdoors. this light has failed me, it is being unreliable just as a home flashlight. i'm using standard AA batteries that are brand new, and the light is having trouble with soft taps and low mode functions.

what do u think i should do?

    please respond

  • WOW!! You really cover all the bases on everything and anything tactical. I have stumbled across several of your reviews on firearms (you sold me on the ruger sr556) and you are very detailed and professional. Do you work for consumer reports, or do you just like to share your opinions with your viewers?? Keep up the good work!!

  • Is it true that if you have new batteries that Low mode doesent work?

  • @alanvalentinus No. Not at all. About the only thing I'll see is that the turbo mode may not have a significant change from the high mode. Shortly after the unit just dies. But, most of the time, the unit will not let you know if the batteries are low. It works fine, then just shuts down when there isn't enough juice to run. It is odd, because I aways think, "I just broke it!" Then put a fresh set of batteries in and it's fine. If you're on an outing, make certain to bring extra batteries

  • My wife bought me a Fenix LD20 and a Quark 123 Sq. Turbo for Xmas based on these reviews. They're pretty cool. I mounted the Quark light on a scope ring for gun use.

  • dude i fucking love you. i live by your reviews

  • Just ordered the 205 lumen version of the LD20. Thanks for the review, Mr. Fancy. Also bought a Quark 123 Sq. Turbo as a carbine light.

  • @Deep13Deep13Deep13 where do you get these lights?

  • I'm looking for a small, compact light for hunting raccoons, fox and coyotes out to around 100 yards at night. You said this would be fine out to 50 yards in urban areas, but how do you think it would work mounted on a rifle with a 3-10x scope at night? Just thought you might be one to take a guess because you use lights, and guns lol. Great videos, thanks a lot!

  • Ill throw my hat in to the ring and say the LD20 is the second item i have brought solely on nutnfancys recommendation and wont be the last. I have a mag lite 4D cell with the official LED up grade bulb and this light is as bright and the beam goes as far, with a much nicer spill beam. Im really happy with this light and it wont be my last Feinix light.

  • Is there a doughnut hole in the center of the beam on the 205lumen version? Believe it or not, 4 e-mails, 2 calls, $8 postage, an RMA and 2 weeks later, I don't have an answer nor my light-which sits at 4Sevens awaiting a review. R U kidding? Nutnfancy term...unacceptable.

Respectfully, something odd. The question is not that difficult. Additionally, R4 printed on the light- R5 in the ads. 4Sevens advertises 180 lumens-- Fenix site, 205.

FYI 4Sevens is deluged by the demands of TNP!!

  • @LVPG2010 I just got my r5 LD20+ today, the new model comes with a smooth reflector similar to that of the Quark turbo, i believe. I think Fenix are trying to produce more throw with the light, but the product of this throw is the doughnut hole in the center of the beam. The new model is 180 lumens according to ANSI standards which is different to the standard testing done usually.

    Hope that helps, bro!

  • @CheepSteal Absolutely does. Thanks. I didn't mean to "cock-off," but the song and dance I've had to go through, from the vendor, has been surreal. Thanks much for the support.

  • @CheepSteal Do you know anything about the LD20 R4? reflector wise? cause if the R4 has a smooth reflector that gives that donut hole effect i'm going to ignore it.

I'm trying to choose between the Fenix LD20 R4 and the Quark AA2 R5. Any suggestions?

    Please and Thank you. :)

  • @paintbasstard I have the Fenix and the Quark MiniAA2. Both are good lights. There is better quality control with the Quark. There are more than a few issues reported with the Fenix. The little MiniAA2 is just an outstanding light for the money. Overall quality is better than that of the Fenix [IMO]. It is much smaller and almost as bright...$30 bucks!!! I'd opt for the standard AA2 over the Fenix [having owned both brands]

  • @paintbasstard Hi, I do not own the R4, but I think it has a slightly stippled reflector. Any other Fenix LD20 R4 owners out there, speak up!

Oh, by the way, the Quark AA2 R5 is really hard to find nowadays, I have no idea why 4sevens removed it from their site and distributors, correct me if I'm wrong though!

PS. I do own a Quark tactical and the new LD20 and I prefer the LD20, the doughnut doesn't bother me, because I get maximum throw out of it, just my two cents.

  • Will the Diffuser tip/cone fit on the Regular 4Sevens Quarks AA. I'm talkin about the one that doesn't have a flared head. And will the Quark AA fit in the Fenix headlamp kit??

  • for military and law enforcement i'd recommend surefire, explosive proof.

  • Got my LD20 R4 the upgraded version now at a crazy 205 Lumens! forgot where i ordered it from but it was around $54 and it came with a free acessory kit (meaning the light cone diffuser etc.) I cannot find this light online now i dont know why but some sites are advertising an R5 model but only at max 180 lumens and some are mixing their statistics so be careful where u order from.

  • Hey Nutin (or Veri), just havein a lil LD problum and hopeing your could help me out with this one. I've had an LD20 for over a year now (with NO problems). but its gotin a few dings in it, as well as a scrath or two on the lense, so i thougth id sell it and buy anouther one (as an upgrade). On the "fenix gear" website they had an upgraded LD20 with MAX 205 Lumens! so i went to purtchase it the outher day, and its been taken off the site! would you know where i can find one of the udgrades?

  • hey nutn saw the vid and noticed some difrences. i was wondering if you could tell me if mine i just a newer version or what. mine came with clip on it and had a smooth reflector just wanted to know what u could tell me thnks and great review

  • I've been playing around with my LD20 R4 for a few weeks now and it is absolutely incredible! I just got a set of eneloops and I can't be happier! If this light ever fails I am definitely getting another (if it ever fails).

Excellent review! It was one of the big deciding factors for me.

  • Funny how just being in a dark room makes one speak more softly.

  • Ordered one, so I was like " hey I wonder what nutnfancy thinks if this" well I checked on YouTube and I can see I have chosen well. I have done my TnP homework.

  • thanks for this vid, i got the light as soon as i could n im very happy with it, especially today because i dropped it into stream of water and i took my time retreiving it and i jus wiped it off n kept goin, great light, great water test, great vid. keep it up! look forward to more knife and gear reveiws thanks again nutn

  • @aztlan41 Great comment!

  • Mine just arrived, awesome light, thanks Nutn, awesome. Surprised its made in China, thought I was buying an American made product.

  • Can it be used to break car side windows in an emergency?

  • Where do you buy your fenix lights?

  • Follow up- I posted a response a page back. I had some issues which I couldn't identity as QC or user related. After a couple weeks of daily use, I conclude my issues were user error [as most are]. Trevor [at 4sevens] was a great help. The light has performed flawlessly once used to the interface. Still not a fan of the pocket clip though. Thanks for letting me post an update.

  • @FlashGordon603

I second that, selfbuilt's reviews have really helped me in purchasing several lights in the past.

  • Great Reviews. When I saw your review, I decided to buy on through the Fenixgear's website. I bought one with Cree's XP-G LED and it is cranking out about 205 lumens at turbo mode. It is a well made flashlight, but doesn't have the same warranty as Surefire. SureFire is pricey but what you get is their warranty service that supports their equipment for lifetime, with no questions asked. Again, I got to say you make terrific reviews Nutnfancy. Thanks for your efforts.

  • absolutgsxr--Chalk it up to experience. I'm OK with the light-- I accept the oddities and move on. Having written that, it is difficult to understand a "glowing" review. Some quality control issues here. Plus, the "add-on" pocket clip is pitiful. Looks and works like an after thought....poorly. I respect and enjoy the Nutnfancy reviews. I just have a different perspective, thus end up with a different conclusion. But, who knows...could be user error. Most of the time it is.

  • ML & abs...Same here. Got mine at 4sevens. Can't tell if there is an issue or just user error [most of the time it is the latter]. Turbo mode has failed a couple of times [same as hi]. I had to tap the light on the side once to get it to go on. The light seems to recognize partial clicks, but the intensity doesn't change unless the pressure is just right. It is a powerful light, but at this point, mine seems "quirky." I've sent an e-mail to 4sevens this morning...no reply as yet.

  • I ordered a LD20 R4 and it doesnt cycle through low, med, high modes rather med, med, high. Im using lithium batteries and also tried using regular alkalines but still experienced the same problem. Anyone else have a problem like this? My LD10 R4 has a Lithium AA inside and works perfect. Not sure whats the issue here.

  • @absolutgsxr Yea I just got one (Fenix LD20+ R4) from 4sevens.com and the low-med-high you can barely see a difference. I am thinking about sending it back. I am using Lithium batteries too. Where did you get your light?

  • @MLoges86 LVPG, Damn dude, yo that really sucks to hear you guys are having the same problem. I ordered mine from amazon.com. I sent the first one back and received a 2nd and again, same problem. I returned both. Its a bit of a disappointment because I like the LD20 R4. I'd buy the LD20 R4 again in a heart beat if I knew this issue had been corrected or resolved. Until then ..

  • @absolutgsxr You just have to wait for the voltage of your lithium cells to drop.

Fenix only uses a boost circuit [for greater efficiency], so when you are applying more voltage than necessary, the circuit is bypassed and the LED is overdriven.

It doesn't take that long to get your low mode back, I think you still have 75-80% of the capacity left.

  • @SparkDischarge thanks for the heads up!

  • @iTek42 Thanks for the websites man.

  • Whats the fenix website you use? I searched for the website but it came out with like 5 different results?

  • @TheJORPR777 fenix-store()com or 4sevens()com. Either one works.

  • Does*

  • Dies the little white cap come with the LD20 or do you have to buy seperatly?

  • Just had to say that this flashlight really is great. I carry it in my EDC, even if it may be a little on the large side for a EDC flashlight. I had the chance to compare this light to one used by a police officer during a social gathering and the LD20 was many times brighter than his larger flashlight (i believe it may have been a maglite).

  • nuntfancy, what you think about the LD10 then ?

  • @kostya121212 If you're referring to the white defuser cone, it's a separate purchase and costs $5.00 I believe.

  • FREE Fenix Accessory Kit - LD and PD Series (4 Piece Kit) from Amazon when you purchase selected Fenix lights! Just bought my Fenix 205 Lumens LD20 for $59.95 free shipping + free $12.99 accessory kit. Not a bad deal! Search for "Fenix 205 Lumens" at Amazon.com and it should be the first light on the list. Look for Special Offers and Product Promotions, just under the pictures, and add both items to your cart at once. The free discount is applied during checkout. Hope this info helps.

  • I could no longer resist purchasing this light. It arrives on Tuesday, and I'm stoked. It's time to stop cranking out big money for CR123A's for my 1 hour burn time Surefire L4. Great info! Thanks, AGAIN, Nutn

  • How do you feel about headlamps? Are there any recommended headlamps that don't break the budget?

  • Nevermind, just came across the vid. Didnt wait long enough.

  • How does this light compare to the Nitecore D20? Cant make up my mind what to buy. Thanks.

  • Fancy it was a great review! I had to go out and purchase one and I'm very pleased with the light. Thanks.

  • can you use this light with the fenix handband?

  • dose "burn time" refers to the batterys or the led?

  • You trolls wanna troll my profile.... Go ahead but the Streamlight stinger lines are better then these lights by far. I work as an Auto tech. I have ran mine over with a F450 turbo diesel loaded. I have owned it for two years. It's abused more then a run and gun desert app. I promise you... Buy one see what I'm talking about you will be happy. For a home light that's rechargeable They are worth it.

  • Last thing how bright is your fenix. Take your fenix stand in direct sunlight. Turn it on turbo mode. Put the but cap to your shoulder and see if it will light your path or you can see its beam of light on the ground lit by sunlight.. If not oh well maybe it's bright but not so bright.

  • Nutnin I'm sure your impressed with Fenix's line of flashlights. Added they give value to the end user. But they are made in china. Buy American support Americans. I may buy a fenix flashlight just to do a review. I'm sure I will find the streamlight much brigther and more focused. You get what you pay for period.

  • Pou and use nutin. pulling your leg good review by the way. But I'm a streamlight man :) CAUSE I REALLY HAVE ABUSED THIS LIGHT day in day out. It still works. What I'm concerned about manufactuers post 205 lumens. And really it's like 140 compared to others. Take for instance my ak on my profile is sporting a surfire g2. I have tested it against various lights and rated higher and it kicks their ass. Except for the streamlight which blows it away.

  • @TheTexasAk47 made in china or not i'm not buying made in the USA and get a Inferior Product that's just racist
