Life doesn't begin at conception. What science has proven this to you?! In fact, they recently cloned human embryos from human skin cells and bypassed the conception step altogether, proving that it is not necessary for life! I can send you the article if you'd like to read it.
@Thereminized But embryos aren't alive. They've cloned human embryos from skin cells, and no one heralded this as the first cloned human being because no rational people believe that embryos are living human beings.
no lol a human blastocyst is not actually a physical human being because it is simply a blastocyst. No brain, no human parts just a collection of cells which will eventually become a human being. A blastocyst is not itself a human being; alot of prolifers like to say a blastocyst is a human being but they are wrong by definition. You are using an expected outcome (human being) as a definition for something previous in the process. That is a logic gap.
@ ignatius even if you were right and a blastocyst is a human being you mess up later on int he quote. You say that if all human beings have souls then blastocysts have souls. Another logic gap. Human beings alive like you and me you can say have souls but just because we have souls now does no mean that blastocysts have proven souls. You just ignored my post from a couple days ago that you cannot prove blastocysts have souls.
@ignatius So, just because you believe human beings outside the womb have souls (which is still debatable because there is no one definition of the word soul), does not prove that blastocysts do. One still cannot even prove live human beings have souls! Ppl have diff ideas on what a 'soul' is, but it still cannot be proven
Cindy - Without giving another history lesson, let me just say, for decades scientists have been working to understand the mysteries of ESCs. Bottom line, ESCR is a total failure. Yet, ASCR has produced hundreds of positive results for people, today. Although mr oblama talks a good talk, and has released federal funds for ESCR, he has also stopped federal funds to ASCR.
The only thing I can say about mr oblama is he's a liar.
I thought Saudi Arabia was much more advanced and even Christopher Reeves went there. Let me get this right, Obama stopped federal funds to ASCR (American Stem Cell Research?) and released funds for ESCR (Ebryonic stem cell research.) What is the difference? I really don't understand. Thanks!
Cindy, The same day mr oblama lifted President Bush's ban on using Federal Funds for Embryonic Stem Cell Research, he also stopped any and all Federal Funds for Adult Stem Cell Research. So, he gives this big speech on how he wants to further discovery on Stem Cell Research and then he eliminates funds for the one area that is showing the most promise.
From the time that the ovum is fertilized, a life is begun which is neither that of the father nor the mother; it is rather the life of a new human being with his own growth. It would never be made human if it were not human already.
GENETICS, EMBRYOLOGY, OBSTETRICS and BIOLOGY have clearly confirmed this.
Humanity is defined by the species, not by the level of development of the species.
All developmental stages of a human being ( zygote, blastocyst, fetus, baby, etc.) contain 23 pairs of chromosomes which are human. This is a scientific fact.
To use human embryos or fetuses as the object or instrument of experimentation constitutes a crime against their dignity as human beings having a right to the same respect that is due to the child already born and to every human person.
The Charter of the Rights of the Family published by the Holy See affirms: "Respect for the dignity of the human being excludes all experimental manipulation or exploitation of the human embryo."
Actually it could not be classified as a normal human because it is not contious and a fly has more brain cells than it so when you swat a fly you hurt it more than an embrio
I really think freezing embryos is quite strange. They could be frozen for 20 yrs, perhaps as long as the donor pays for them. It does sound like a weird science experiment. It's like they are in limbo, so that's why I feel they don't have the capacity to think and they aren't a human being because they are frozen and cell division isn't occurring anymore. Is that correct? We know that life itself begins with fertilization. From a religious view, that's where people differ regarding the "soul."
@Radetzky19 I personally don't believe they have souls. The Muslim religion believes that life begins after 120 days, so actually abortions are allowed.
@mia thats a cool interesting tidbit. My comment was not directed for you to take personally I was just commenting in general in my personal experience how ppl rely on souls as proof for their stance against embryonic stem cell research (mostly Christian evangelicals). That is a cool tidbit mia about Islam. I will remember that.
@ ignatius the problem is I'm guessing you are on the hardcore prolife side and you want to incorporate stem cell research to be halted in public policy on the grounds of that there is a "soul" when you cannot prove such a thing. Noone can prove or find the "arithmetic of souls"
I think it was a great thing what President Obama did by signing for stem cell research. But I do disagree with you about Sen. McCain. I do not think he would've signed for the stem cell research and if former President Bush really wanted too, he would've signed for it too. Peace and love, Beautiful.
Embryonic Stem Cell Research is canabilism. The harvesting of human cells for the consumption by human beings is canabilism. Especially since the cells come from individuals who don't have a choice in the matter. i love Canada for the free health care, on the other hand about god and having sin already upon us when comming into this world if thers such a thing a sin and hell, i say hell is having to stay behind in limbo till you figure your way out or get helped to the other side and heaven is just the giant infinite amount of knowledge and energie of the cosmos which you were born of and will return to when you pass on. If you believe in god you should believe in destiny, so god made us destined to sin.
Interesting. I know the Priest who Baptised my son felt that we are born with sin, but I don't agree with this. He did annoint him and I remember he spit out the door to repel the Devil away from my son. So, I did like the Blessing. I do believe that babies are angels. I wish we had free health care. It's really bad over here.
Nevertheless I do see a lot of negative objects in the abortion essue, many women I know regret that decition so I think cientists, genetists and doctors should seek a variable way to ensure a fully redevellopment and correct of function of male gamethotic cells after the vasectomy. From my point of view is much more easy to lose cells than to lose something you have growing inside you.
It's not something women usually want to do and it would be better if they were just given herbs like before. With abortion, they make the woman wait until she is 6 wks I believe it said. I think at least 5 wks. If the woman knew right away and then took an herb I don't think it would be that detrimental emotionally. Again, I think it has to do with money. I'm sure it's a big business.

I agree with you that the embryo doesn't know what is happening. I did state the scientists have proven that celldivision occurs during conception at day 1. So, yes that part is a fact. It doesn't mean that the embryo has any thought and so forth. I really don't believe the pain centers of the brain are developed. Re: your stepmom, it's possible that the baby will have a happy life. It's hard on the girl mentally and many times they don't tell anyone that they are even pregnant. They deny it.
Yes, they should and I really believe Obama is doing this. A man came up to me the other day and asked if I had any money so he could get something to eat. I didn't have any cash on me and I feel it is a disgrace that people in the USA have ot go hungry. If I was 100% sure that I wasn't going to be harmed I would have driven him to my house because we grilled so much sausage that night.
It's a great idea, but since Obama is continuing the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and will be responsible for the killing of millions of people by the end of his term, I don't really think that this decision is some kind of monument to his supposedly saintly character. Considering that Obama is also looting the American economy and transferring wealth upwards to the billionaires on Wall Street with his "economic stimulus packages", this decision by him is nothing more than a smoke screen.
Thanks for commenting. The stimulus package worries me a lot because no one knows anything about it and I feel the American people should know what is being done with their money. What I do know is Medicare is not getting any money out of it. There is a one time payment of $250. President Bush gave $600. in 2008. Medicare doesn't cover vision and dental. I'll find out more too. So, I guess it is a luxury for elderly people to see. Welfare gives back like $600. per person and child. No kidding
I don't know how you feel about this but I say FREE HEALTH CARE FOR EVERYONE, so my fiancee can have her leg checked without paying a dime (and she is on disability!) As for stem cell research, why not! Bush once approved of it and then changed his mind
I'm sure I will agree with your vids. We do need Free Healthcare. It's horrible. I have made so many vids and what they are doing with Medicare is wrong.
I think Bush changed his mind about stem cell research because of the Republican party. I think he was really for it. I say free health care for everyone too! Our system is horrible! I looked through Medicare 2009 and they don't even cover eye examinations. I guess that is a luxury being able to see.
lol at your dog barking at Teddy! I really need to put him in his crate so he can rest. He won't be able to sleep until he knows he is safe in his crate. I thiink he has bags under eyes right now, lol! Can you tell I like to rock? lol! I'll be an old lady one day rocking. I guess it could be oiled. The chair was free. Thanks for commenting Moomay on this subject.

I don't know how you feel about this but I say FREE HEALTH CARE FOR EVERYONE, so my fiancee can have her leg checked without paying a dime (and she is on disability!) As for stem cell research, why not! Bush once approved of it and then changed his mind

Free Healthcare is a good idea, that has to mean that our society must change, watch my vids maybe you'll agree with "some" of what I say.

I totally support it and Pres. Obama.
I also support Pro choice.
I think your rocking chair needs some oiling.
Abortion is a hard choice and affects you for a lifetime.
I had to go to Mass and Sunday School too.
Most medicines today are still made from herbs.
Yes, it's so sad for crack babies.
My dog is barking at your dog.

lol at your dog barking at Teddy!
