  • I respect erik fanhouser as a competitor - thats why im watching his videos. I don't think he shoulda put this online, sets a bad example for young guys starting out in bb. What I do find funny is that people are like massive strength, who gives a fuck if its shit form; but if it was a video of an average joe in a gym doing the same weight, same form, same reps, belt and straps. People would be ripping the video to shreds. Just don't like double standards...

  • @20rattlers12 yeah, strict curls have a place and time, more for concentration curls, guys with big arms like him always have a little swing on the curls to be able to go heavy. You wont see guys with 20" arms doing strict curls

  • He's a bodybuilder. He doesn't give a fuck about what you think of him using straps and a belt. He's just trying to work out his BICEPS...NOT his forearms, back, or core. If he feels like wearing straps and a belt then let him.

    Get over it people... It's a big lift for a curl, he's doing his thing, and that's all that matters. Some of you are too wound up in the details to even give a guy props.

  • he even says in another vid of his on utube that if he he uses straps because they make him feel more comfortable. if he wants to improve his forearms, he works on his forearms. and a lot of bodybuilders use the belt for almost every lift to protect the back. good comment mant

  • i have 17 inch arms and am str8 as you can get. No matter what level youre at, you should always be open to criticism, but the critic should also be open for criticism. Many of these guys, esp those that as dependent upon steroids, have mostly found what works for them. When you first start out you should likely follow the textbook but as you progress and experiment, will you will find those particular things that work best for YOU.

  • Now I'm going up in weight (5 pounds) EVERY upper body workout day!!! Right now I'm doing 160 pounds (I weigh 160) 10 repetitions very easily! I try to do the first 1-7 with good form (keeping back straight), then I let my back kick in a little on my last reps. I'll probably be up to 185 pretty soon...

  • What a BA!!! What people don't seem to understand (I learned it the hard way) is that doing the standing curl helps you go up in curling much faster! It even helps you go up in strict curling! I used to do strict curles on the preacher curl all the time and my progress was very slow, but then I started doing standing curls and my progress more than doubled!

  • best heavy curl I have seen so far on utube. a little swing in the hips but he had control of the weight the whole time. very strong (me 185x5). most of the vids you see are people bragging about using too heavy weights and horrible form.

  • Blah Blah Blah. Everyone can complain about, "strict form" on here, but the fact is the only pure isolation exercise is a one armed DB preacher curl. Other than that you utilize multiple muscles per lift, INCLUDING the straight bar curl. You would never need to strictly curl 85% of your bodyweight for strength. You only need to strict curl for bodybuilding purposes, and this guy looks pretty damn big to me. So what are you haters talking about again?

  • Shut up. You can do controlled negatives with some help. And this is a bad example. I curl 175 for 6-8reps in a very controlled fashion. And this is jerking. BTW - Tored tendons doesn't really look too good either.

  • yeah but you are not getting the proper contraction, you are stretching muscle on a negative, where this uses a momentum style lift to overload the bicep, it looks bad form, but it works. Its done same way with jump squats and shit.

  • That MAY be true to some extent, but I'm a scientific minded person, and that small amount of scientific data tells that best growth happens on eccentric phase. Momentum actually is just that - momentum. You don't lift that weight - momentum "lifts" it for you. Momentum is ok if you lower the weight sloooowly, but not like this...

  • can't do max eccentrics all the time, it eats up your joints pretty quick if you don't know what your doing, I find it that sometimes concentric phase leading up to a max contraction has some interesting results, in fact more then eccentrics could ever do for me on curls, leg extensions, ham curls, some other isolation shit. just some thought. everywhere else though it seems the opposite lol

  • I need to correct myself, I do 155 (I'm from Europe, it's kgs here, made a mistake converting). Anyway - I doubt abot the joint issue. Could you elaborate?   • Just an honest question??? Does it matter if you put your right foot forward when doing heavy curls..I was stuck on 155 and was able to do 185 with my right foot forward, it also put less strain on the rest of my body...Is that considered cheating??

  • it all depends on the tension you put on the bicep, if you feel a lot of tension, then you can be upside down really who gives a fuck. Tension = growth.
