a reply to 21 century cat again, yes, i did take it lightheartedly. it was kind of a comedy/drama, which i really like. :)

they did the title that way because the kid spelled it "rambow" because they didn't know how to. it was purposeful.

that was one of the best films i've seen in a while, and i thought the acting was really good for the kids' ages. they can't have been over 10 years old. and regardless, i really liked their acting. especially the actor who played lee carter. the end scene of that movie was so touching, it was an amazing movie. i give it a 5 out of 5 and recommend it most highly!

well I never suggested the kids were worthy of being nominated for an Oscar for their acting but I still think they did ok, and maybe I'm a big kid at heart but I just loved the whole feel good nature of the story, and of course the early 80s was a time I remember well so it had added value for me

p.s. I just saw "Be Kind. Rewind." on Saturday have you heard of that one? About a guy working in a video store (filled with only VHS tapes). His annoying friend becomes magnetised one day and his mere presence in the shop erases all of the tapes. So the guys, fearing severe backlash from the boss, decide to "recreate" the movies with their video camera. 20 min's long. .that sort of thing. Ghost Busters, Rush Hour 2, etc. Slow start I thought.. but turned out ok. :-)
