This film was so ahead of its time in terms of fashion and music! The subject matter is really something else too- one of the best science-fiction storylines I've ever heard of.
I've had the soundtrack to this film for years. It completely opened my mind up to electronic experimental music. Songs like 'me and my rhythm box'were way ahead of their time, as for the film? fucking genius.
I've been hearing about this movie sine I was in college (1985). And finally tracked down a copy, I had got it into my tiny mind that the sound track was super cool No Wave Noise (Tenage Jesus, DNA et all) what I got was some clown plonking about on a siclaiver. As for the movie this has got to be the most unintentionly funny movies I have every seen. I fell of my chair I was laughing so much. "Dont Fuck me!!!! I Kill with my C**T!!!!!"
I've done more qualudes than you have aspirin, they don't excite me, where's the cocaine? (too funny! of course cocaine doesn't excite me either, but what a great line!!!
Love Liquid Sky. I read Carlisle's novelization in '93, travelled to another college town to see the travelling version of it in '87--wrote love letters to all concerned--talked by phone with cameraman Neyman in Roosevelt Island, NYC. This footage came from the 20th anniversary DVD issued by Wintertainment Co.
Your father was nuts...you belong in the Bowery with the bums... and other great lines from Liquid Sky. This was abstracted from the 20 year edition DVD distributed by Wintertainment. The director had shot rehersal footage on old-fashioned beta gear, which had de-magnetized since then. So the DVD extras had bits of scenes here and bits of scenes there.
I truly love this movie--it's a perfect "Midnight Movie".
