Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this come on at midnight. I was up way to late but loved univesal monster movies. You can't get much better than the originalk Frankenstein, Creature from the black lagoon or The Abominable dr. phibes.
Where did you FIND this? Thank You for the memories!! My older brother used to drag me out of my crib and make me watch these with him. I HATED this opening- those white hands always made me cry. LOLOL (these days that would be considered abuse) But I became a Universal monster-movie addict for life!
Classic - As a young boy growing up in Prescott, Wisconsin ( near the Twin Cities) in the early 70's, I spent many a night watching those great Universal Horror monsters on this show, surrounded by popcorn and drawing paper - I used to draw the monsters as the films played out.
My brothers and I watched this every weekend - it's the reason I still stay up too late at night. And, my dentist was part of the re-make of HI about 10 years ago - he's a big 1940s-1950s horror fan and had a great time with the campy skits.
I'm 43 and remember this as if it was yesterday! This opening would scare the tar out of me, and it still sends chills watching this 37 years later! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!
47 here, from St Cloud MN. Man, when I was 8, I used to sneak down to the basement after my parents went to sleep and turn the volume down as low as I could and watch a Horror Incorporated double feature and have nightmares for the next week. God that was great. And, yeah, I remember when KMSP tried to cash in with Creature Feature, not bad, but their opeing could never match HORROR, INCORPORATED AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
HA! Awesome. Any second I swear I'm going to hear my dad yell down into the basement "TURN THAT CRAP OFF AND GO TO BED!!". At that point, I'd normally turn the volume down. (Hey it's close to off, right?)
But now the ultimate request: Please, please post some of the Chef Cafe commercials if you have them. I would seriously PAY to see Timothy D Kehr shoving some wings in his face. That would really bring back memories!!!
I'm 42 and it was great to see this opening again, it brings back such memories. They don't make television like this anymore, gone are the locally produced shows and in are the generic crap! Long live local shows and the golden age of TV. Remember Clancy the Cop, Casey Jones,as well as the beloved Horrer Incorporated.
WOW! This is GREAT! I am 44 years old. When I was about four or five years old, I remember sneaking out of bed at about 11:55 pm on a Saturday night to watch this opening clip on KSTP TV. It scared the tar out of me!!! I LOVED it! I would then watch about two to three minutes of the black & white "movie of the week" before my mother or my father would hear the TV on and yell at me to "get to bed!" from their bedroom.
Speaking of "Creature Feature", anyone recall KMSP 9 running an occasional competing Saturday night spooktacular by that name? They had some very scary intro pieces as well that I hope to see again someday, like a trembling bloody hand and ghostly faces in flames.... They usually ran UK Hammer imports like the brilliant "Curse Of The Werewolf".
Circa summer '74 remember "Dr. Paul Bearer" as the host? I think he originally came from Detroit and spent his life as a journeyman creature-feature host. Not scary at all, but fun. This intro STILL scares the crap outta me 35 years later! Watched it at Noon & Midnight every Saturday, even briefly had it on Sunday afternoon as well. Noon was heavy on the Japanese Toho stuff (the kickass "War Of The Gargantuas" notably) and at midnight mostly vintage Universal classics.

Someone please upload the originals because the remake of this is GARBAGE! Ever since the year 2000 came to be the actors and actresses can't act!
