  • Do anyone know is any of the original members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra still alive?

  • Trombonist Paul Tanner is still kicking, and lives in the San Diego area. He was present at the gig we played there a few months ago. Great guy.

    Ron Mills, Piano

    Glenn Miller Orch.

  • GO THE SAXES

  • god that crowd was so horrible

  • Just beautiful how and about 0:25 they have the brass only play the accented notes, gives them the "umph" that they need. Glenn Miller should've been alive to see the progress jazz made after he passed

  • Nice clapping. Ugh.

  • JEA JEA JEA TROMBONES!

  • WOW!

    I love it.

Glenn Miller sure knew how to create great music.

It is too bad that he died so young.

Just think of the music he would have made in the years after.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I always thought this song was a ripoff of "Rule Britannia".

  • Just for that solo, Mike Ruth = God among men

  • that solo is....WOW.....I love jazz with a burning passion.

  • trombones rock

  • Interesting, everyone is saying this is fast. I grew up knowing this song about this speed (120bpm). Good song though!

  • The canadian brass does a good job on this piece as well. It is played a lil faster here.

  • AMAZING

  • Oparade: The band certainly doesn't play the tune that fast these days, no. I spent the

1st part of this year on the band, and American Patrol (#4 in the book) is back to a tempo slightly faster than "In the Mood".

  • The tune is normally not that fast. The GMO does not play it that fast these days, that's for sure. I just got off the band a few months ago. The band sounds great these days.

  • Not normally that fast? Buddy, have you ever listened to the first recordings of American Patrol made at the turn of the century? This is actually a DAMN fast song. Glenn Miller was not the first person to record it, and when he did, he played the whole thing at half-speed.

  • American Patrol was originally written and performed as a 2/4 march "at the turn of the century". Jerry Gray adapted it as a 4/4 swing tune. Big difference.

    Ron Mills, Piano

    Glenn Miller Orch.

  • Hi Ron! What do you think of the speed we played this back in 1983?

    Larry Newman

    GMO, Trumpet, 1983-1984

  • the clarinet sounds great. i love it fast, it gets the audience going!

  • it sure dose, i play clarinet im 2nd chair

  • Lovely stuff! Not my words Glenn, the words of Shakin Stevens!

  • Well this is significantly faster than what my jazz band took it at...

  • were playing this in band and we go wayyyyyy slower

  • Jesus, does it go that fast? omg :D:D

  • Our jazz band is playing this song

  • I play trumpet at school with a band of 7/8 of us and i had no clue this song went this fast

  • wonderful, i saw a Tribute to Glenn Miller in Carentan, France in 2006 for the 62 d-day anniversary.

  • Fantastic!

  • Can't BEAT HIM!!!!!!!

  • Fabulous!

  • TIGHT were gonna learn this in my school!!!! (great song)

  • I love this song we played it in my jazz band this and in the mood are my favs

  • Glenn Miller was and always shall be greatest big band leader in all of history. He was the one that brought in to place the use of the clarinet, and this gave the greatness to the big band sound. Sir Enrico Granse

  • Hey Larry

    Bob Rummage

    drummer 1983

    Hope you are well

  • Waaahh.. cool.

tomorrow and the next my school has school festival, and I'm looking forward to the JAZZ band where I used to be playing this tune.

  • awesome just fast eniugh

  • thats awesome i love fast

  • it is way to fast

  • FASTER! FASTER! FASTER!!!

  • woah slow down that is way too fast

  • those bones like a ship horn! yeah!

  • This music is great. The orchestra even so. But it's a little bit to fast in my opinion, too. But after all fun, fun, fun... XD

  • This music is so classy-- the time that went with it, the people. You could actually make a decent living playing an instrument, too!

  • Love it, our highschool band just played this tonight and it kicked ass.

  • Can your trumpets play that solo that high?

  • Yes you can play that solo so high!

  • yes higher

  • yes higher

  • Too speed !
