OK, I'm a straight guy and have to ask why not make a series of contracts to give most of the things like (electronic items, jewlery, housing, basically all assets) Marriage is both a contract with the state, and God.. If you are Gay and know others who are gay, why not try to find a lawyer to put togeter "boiler plate" and simply go down the aisle (no wedding liscense but instead a commercial signing)? I hate to say this but I'm 50 and don't expect to see gay marriage in my lifetime.
go to time 7:30....'if the majority feels like marriage laws are being imposed on them against their will, then the amendment is ok.' so if the majority of Americans (not 2/3) say they are offended and somehow forced into watching or having a gay marriage, then he would be for the amendment?
@nicksum29 Sadly, I think many still do. When you look accross a room and know that there are some "bubbas" who would intervein. Perhaps God put me using a cane for a reason (LOL) My nephew by marriage is gay. Honestly I was not on my best behavior for I understood nothing except "the act" As I aged and there were more things that seemed reasonable. Please don't judge us by the actions of a few. ~~ thanks for reading. Peace, Hope, and love be with you.
@goodoldbubba1 Dear friend, thank you for this kind and generous response. How good it is to know that there are those whose hearts do become pliable.
@SpeedyBruin but surely its good that he doesnt want a federal ban. the idea of a constitutional republic is its state by state so if you dont like how it is in one state you can go to another
@VoiceOfModeration The idea that gay and lesbian Americans should simply uproot themselves from their jobs, families, communities etc is completely impractical (you're talking about millions of Americans), not to mention unjust. This has already created a patchwork of laws that give and take away rights for these couples at the borders causing great complexity and uncertainty. As far as my earlier statement McCain has over and over again been an ardent defender of intolerance.
@SpeedyBruin If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values - that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control.
Yes, majority rule is totally justified and the right way to go... if you're in the majority group! What a dick.
