Little Italy is not the same because Italians moved up in America. They don't own restaurants anymore or run bars, thats the old way of doing things. Ok so just a little help for Americans who plan to visit Italy:
1) In Italy, you drink Cappuccino only for breakfast.
2) Spaghetti BOLOGNESE are called Spaghetti AL RAGU', and forget about Spaghetti with meatballs or Linguine Alfredo
3) Many places and vehicles do not have air conditioning
4) Italian Coffee is much stronger than American coffee

The goddam yuppies stole the true Italian essence from Little Italy, they cleaned the streets and took over the buildings. Little Italy is nothing more than a tourist enterprise nowadays. I wish I could have seen Little Italy in the 70s, when it was still italian, so well portrayed by Martin Scorsese. But does Sheepshead Bay still retain the Italian spirit? Or is it fading?
