I got an elliptical for my b-day last month. I put it so I can watch TV while I'm on it. I can do 30 minutes. Trying to work my way up to 1 hour. Want to loose 15 pounds
Ive been using the elliptical at the gym for almost a year now. When i started i couls only do it maybe about 10-15 minutes. Now after about a year i go an hour a day, plus a two mile run on a tredmill. Started out VERY overweight at close to 365! Yikes..... I know... But now im down to 257 and still losing!
I'm a 30 year old female, and I can only do 30 mins on this machine. I'm about dead after that! I think it's actually very good considering I'm over 300 pounds.
I didn't feel any burn in my system, so I just kept running and running. After about 5 hours on the elliptical machine, I just gave up and took a rest. When I got off, I felt like I was going to die. I couldn't breathe at all. I had no clue I was having a heart attack XD. So, when you're using a treadmill, don't wait to feel burn, just exercise at normal amounts.
never never never use a gym machine for 5 hours. The vital element in getting fit is to gradually build up over months. If you're totally unfit, whatever your age, and you suddenly take part in vigorous exercise there will be some damage.take it slow at first and let your body tell you when to increase the effort. If it hurts your body is telling you to slow down or stop.I'm sick of seeing fat people tortured by personal trainers who should know better.Physical fitness is for life
I am recovering from an injury and am having difficulty using the treadmill (problems with impact on knees). However, I just started using the elliptical for the first time and enjoy it. I am pushing myself very hard and no impact on my knees! It tells me that after 30 min, I am burning over 350 calories (weigh 210). Is this accurate? I am using very light resistance, but am pushing hard! Thank you.
