  • wow!! very difficult bass line, how did you learned that

  • I have this bass. Love it but would sale. And it is the lightest precision I have ever played. Also got the 62' Jazz but NOT4SALE.

Like the Strat & Tele the Bass's have there own unique sound!

  • Trasmission!!

  • You play one of the best basses ever made to one of the best bands to ever walk the face of the earth....SIR, I SALUTE YOU!!!!!!!!

  • Great sounding and looking Bass! It still amazes me that people who play Bass argue over Pick VS. No Pick. Hey we are all playing Bass. That's what counts! Plus its all about tone and style. Also circumstances. After 2 surgeries for Carpal Tunnel I have decided to play with a pick over fingers. The index and middle finger moved repeatedly will cause it everytime.

  • @ExplosionBass Either are fine, but I think the whole thing behind pick vs. no pick is that the pick is very limiting. Without a pic, and using 4 fingers and thumb, you can explore a lot more techniques and break different barriers, whereas with the pic, in those regards, you are more limited. There's a reason why he doesn't slap with a pic at the end. If circumstances make it so you have to use a pic, fine, but using your fingers will help you break those barriers and explore more.

  • @omgwtfbbqalekx I agree the pick is limiting but it's all about tone and style. To me I play more rock and metal so the pick pushes the tone out better. I can play with fingers and slap, pop and tap. All the tricks. It should be what a person wants to sound like with their own style and tone. Even with my circumstance I still will play with my fingers or slap and pop some too. To me the pick is a little harder and slower when playing octaves and jumping strings. Play what ya like is what I say.

  • maple fretboards are awesome!

  • F**king amazing!!! Precision bass and Joy Division. Fantastic dude. 5 stars

  • great job! love joy division, you have great tone!

  • what strings man?

  • Awesome. To the moron who said something about using a plectrum -- eat my ass.

  • Maybe before talking watch my other videos :) really thanx :)

  • why fail?

  • how heavy is your bass dude? had a 1979 precision brand new and it got stolen!.*dam*!!!~

  • i don't have more this bass..anyway as mostly of 70's fenders was not so light , but it had a reasonable weight anyway not crazy

  • Dude. that's a heartbreaker.

  • That is a nice sounding bass

  • hai fatto bene a usare il plettro ma di solito si usano le dita

  • the chillies play this live in hyde park right before "right on time"

  • joy division ... nice

  • beautiful bass , i want it so bad!!

  • good sound, good playing.

  • ohhh..same bass as mine,same year..they are like twins!cool..mine is year 1978

  • sounds like my squire with 62s

  • good choice of song. Love Joydivsion! Tight tight band. Very original!

  • lol...i thought this was going to be rhcp....they do this b4 they play "right on tyme"live

  • I thought that was a squire model..?

  • Is that Joy division playing in the back ground if so then he's playing a Shergold bass british made.

  • i don't think peter hook had the shergold yet when this was recorded. i'm not 100% on this but i think he played a rickenbacker copy made by hondo back then.

  • Exactly. A crap Rick copy he later broke in a fit of anger nearly hittin' an a-hole in the head. The Shergold 6-string actually came in his NO days.

  • That's such a nice bass.

  • i can't tell if it's you playing or the song

  • that's right

  • lol @ people who refuse to play with a pick. you're limiting yourselves ;)

  • playing with a pick doesnt sound good at all, and give an example of how its limiting ourselves besides tremelo picking (which isnt any good on a bass anyways)

  • Playing with a pick gives a different sound than any other type of playing, just like slap doesn't sound the same as finger plucking. It gives a more trebly bite, and thinking it sounds good is all personal preference; some people think slap is a terrible way to play a bass! It's useful in some music styles, especially those that require both speed and treble, like some rock, punk, and metal.

  • while you're entitled to your opinion on what sounds YOU like, lolsebasstian is correct. you're limiting the scope of what you can do if you refuse to play with a pick, which is just silly.

  • im just sayin that all of the bass players that i know of dont play with a pick and they dont seem limited at all

  • mark hoppus uses a pick.

  • he's not very good

  • regardless of his skill level you are limited to not playing blink 182 bass if you refuse to use a pick. and he is on the bass guitarist wall in guitar center so he isnt badd.

  • lol, i didnt finish watching the video so screw that comment :P

  • are you talking about Mark hoppus being on the bass wall at guitar center? That doesn't mean he is good by any means lol just popular. And you can play any Blink 182 song with your fingers.......lol

  • yeah but victor wooten isint even on that wall..come on

  • Ever heard of Paul McCartney or John Entwistle?^^

  • @spanky1269

I'm not really sure how to describe the sound Tool gets from using a pick, but no other way of playing I can do, or heard any one else use sounds the same as a pick (at least for some of my favorite Tool songs).

I just think it makes a different sound, then again how GOOD something sounds is a matter of personal opinion I suppose

  • My bass looks just like this but I have a Jazz-bass. Fender makes THE best instruments..awesome.

  • Who says you can't slap on a Precision bass????!!! Sounds great to me!

  • Radiioooooo

  • I'm thinking of getting this exact same bass (same color and everything).

I know it's a precision. But what exactly are the 'colors', specs, etc? Price? Thanks!

  • joy division!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and if u strum on the pickups u do get the pick sound with ur fingers

  • wow yea ima have to go with drop the pick

  • the picksound rocks on a preci. wish i had this sound with the fingers.

  • Love the bass.

    A pick on a P-bass rocks.

  • I don't like picks either, but apparently this goes with the style (you've got to like the style)

  • Totally agree, it seems to come out of another age...
