  • This track is just... great.

  • "I watched you braid your hair, you're from another time..." - I really appreciate this line. Though I don't listen to much of Conor Oberst's music anymore, it really influenced my music preferences now, it opened my eyes to a lot of great new music. I like that Monsters of Folk include fantastic lyrics, like many of the lyrics in this song.

  • this one makes me happy, reminds me of bright eyes (:

  • It is so rare to find a good song these days... I can't get enough of this.

  • these are the kinds of songs we need in the world now...everyone would be so at ease and peaceful...

  • i do enjoy m. wards version, but something about connors version sounds so much more sincere, and, to me, it just seems so desperately empty, as if he isnt even singing, instead hes just speaking to himself... or into the wind...

and this effect somehow gives it a comfortable richness, its like hes caught in a gray area where he blends pure emotion, and an authentically care free style.

i dont know how to describe it.

    but do i have to?

    you all get it.

    peace and love.

  • Asher's sunburned neck bulged from the eighteen-inch neck of his sport shirt and his back strained its triple-x width.

  • it's just amazing... that bass line and the song overall, sensational.

  • Id have to say i like the other version of this song. The one that M. Ward sings.

  • @jeepjunky30 M Ward does sing this one, connor does the other one

  • @InuitMan1 no this is connor oburst, m. ward is the one where they r in the studio, the recorded one..

  • @jjepjunky30 No, it's the other way around... Conor is doing this one, and M is doing the other one :)

  • never heard of them until now. i think this is some good chill out music, balm to the soul!

  • the love we made at gun point, wasent love at-all!

  • my ears just want to eat this song.

especially that little "there and then theyre gone" solo towards the end.

    love this, so so much.

  • omG!! favorite song... it really goes back him being in Mexico when he accidentally made Conor Oberst and the mystic Valley Band which i think is pretty awsum!! =)

  • My favorite song on the album.

  • sure sound a lot like like Bright Eyes ;-)

  • @MrHappyhorses only because of Conor lol

  • Temazcal, mezcal or tequila...

  • I had given upon music til now...listen to this tune every day; puts me in a good place

  • @cocobolo2 or perhaps the right place.

  • it's called acoustic rock, it is in the vein of crosby stills and nash and neil young, wilco, beck, devendra banhart

  • quite a broad vein . . . wu tang mitch ain't nuthin' to f*** wit . . . wu tang mitch aint nuthin to f wit (repeat)

  • indie folk

  • @polakandrew theres nothing more beautiful man.

  • The first time I heard this song in HMV..I could swear it was an old grateful Dead tune I hadn't come across yet. Excellent song..it's good to see someone is still making some quality music theses days!!

  • I like this song a lot.

My favorite line: "The love we made at gunpoint wasn't love at all. Dancin' in the valley - the moon's the mirrorball."

  • I don't know if its just me... but i hear The Band's influence in a lot of music coming out these days. not that its a bad thing.

  • Just so happens that The Band is my favorite classic rock and MMJ (Jim James) is my favorite current band.

    Coincidence? Polly not. :)

  • Such as Dr. Dog

  • Weird, I haven't noticed that. The band is folk influenced classic rock with a country twist at times. I don't hear alot of that in here, but to each his own.

I guess this sounds influenced by grateful dead, who were influenced by the band. But folk rock always sounds a little alike.

  • i like it!

  • Love the refrain. Reminds me of Grateful Dead folk.

  • this is definitely my favorite song of the album :)

  • The human population of earth is angry, conceited and ignorant in many ways, pushing "god" or whatever higher reality in existence further from us.

  • pretty sure it has to do with the complete disrespect humans have for the earth, making it angy. like global warming. duh

  • it's figurative for the ignorance of childhood innocence, smart one

  • earth wasnt so angry and god was on our side.

  • Blew open my mind, now it's an empty room!!

  • Great song from a fantastic group. wow.

  • Heard this today in a local music store. Thought "Conor...?" Is that Bright Eyes or a solo effort? Nice to see it was neither.

  • After listening to their album i thought god there might be some hope for MUSIC AGAIN !

    PURE MUSIC i was missing

  • this song is amazing!!!!! :D :D :D

  • i looooove this

    2222 views woot!

  • I love this song. Going to see them live in Vancouver!

  • no you're not, liar!

  • I told you I was....

  • their my new favorite band. so chill and beautiful

  • best song.

  • The best song on the new album. Can't wait until the Oakland show!
