First album I bought (with my own hard-earned income from lawn mowing) was Three Dog Night's "Suitable For Framing".....back then, gasoline was $.33 per gallon. This album- was one of the first that I bought that was truly party-down-the road music. Played it so many times....on the air harmonica that I actually thought I was pretty good. Great music from a long time ago.
How come it's called "Full House" when the album cover displays three of a kind; king high? But between this one, Frampton Comes Alive, Rockin' the Fillmore (HB) and At Fillmore East (TABB)- I'm happy I lived through those rockin' good times and somehow survived to be able to appreciate this wonderful live music from so long ago.
I live in detroit.I was lucky to see J GEILS MONKY ISLAND TOUR in the 1970s. Im over 50 yrs old now.some people do not understand why detroit love j geils.they were not like attending just another rock band.It was like a rock party. Every one in cobo hall that night were on their feet dancing. They blew my face out.long live j geils band.
This was almost mandatory listening as a kid growing up in Detroit. While everyone else around the country was listening to Peter Frampton we were listening to Peter Wolf.
@Maxharddrive64 "Full House" was released in '72 while Frampton was still in Humble Pie. Humble Pie recorded "Live at the Fillmore" with Peter in the group, in '72. They played the Eastowne Theatre in Detroit with Peter still in the group, either just after the release of "Live at the Fillmore", or just prior to it's release. "Peter Frampton Live" wasn't recorded and released until until 1975.
Peter Wolf was one of the first disc jockeys on WBCN Boston -- one of the best FM station that ever graced the airwaves -- Geils and Co, did free summer concerts in Bosotn with Aerosmith in the early 70's. Those were some serious gigs!
This is the best live album ever -- and Detroit was a second home to Geils
HEY CROMBAG69 THATS right I forgot u were the 1 who turned me on to GEILS FULL HOUSE UFREAK YOUR A REAL BRIGHT 1 BRIGHT as a 2 watt bulb.I still have my copy or FULL HOUSE saw them and partied with them at MSG NY IN the 70s.u still got ur copy or did MOM trow it out?stay wit TROLLING JBs site or the friggin PARTRIGE FAMILY.U aint cool enough to hang here exept by a rope.lol
@hondotoo ...thats a close one."Full House" And JGeils live(double album) were both off the hook amazing.Just chocked full of energy and great music, But, I'd give the slight edge to Seger's two live performances at Cobo. Both recordings caught "lightning in a bottle"
@Maxharddrive64 Max....you gotta be kidding !!! You are comparing J.Geils Band to Bob Seger..not even close. Seger didn't even want J.Geils on tour with him anymore. They blew him away. And don't get me wrong Seger's music is good!!! but not even close live. J.Geils band tore it up live. Seeing them @ Cobo must have unreal. I saw them all over the country but only @ Pine Knob. Motor City Shakedown..!!!
@chazmann58 Nope not kidding at all..Im a huge Geils fan prob seen them 20 times since the late 70's As i said both Seger's 'live bullet' and Geils "Full House" are BOTH classic albums. Im not so much comparing musical styles as I am performances. To just blow off "Live Bullet" as being 'shi't, like Stoned Pengin alluded to means he prob never listened to it all that close.
Saw J. Geils in Seattle with Steeleye Span . What an odd pairing . I guess they thought it was Steeley Dan . Bored the crowd pretty bad but J. Geils cured that in about 3 seconds .
awesome song i am a dude from holland we played "FullHouse" in our clubhouse
in our village as well as Journey etc. Brings back memo.. The past is always part of now!! Classic Rock "ll stay tuned! See Ya Mike from Krommenie, Holland!
when you look back on 'fullhouse',do you still use 'journey' in same sentence ? ... i saw journey's 1st tour w/steve perry. if you can imagine this; they were support to emerson, lake&palmer after the latter had to drop the 'work's' act. due to expense&dis-interest by faithfull. - the busch league did music from 'next' - their drummer was good. rock on,Holland.
so many memories!!!!! riding around, six or seven of us in my buddys 67 nova- smoke coming out of every window ,singing at the top of our lungs- awesome!! thanks for posting.
WRITTEN by MIRACLES MEMBERS SMOKEY ROBINSON and BOBBY ROGERS. THE CONTOURS VERSION is THE ORIGINAL.(1965) The J Geils , Rod Stewart, and David Bromberg versions are covers. This is a MOTOWN song.
A classic live album, without a doubt! As good as it gets.
