  • Guys it's not necessarily the network's fault. A lot of the good anime got moved to adult swim or off toonami because the target audience for Cartoon Network is ages 6 to 11. and they were deemed inappropriate, while I miss them just as much as anyone, I don't blame cartoon network for anything except getting rid of toonami, which did majorly suck. but they did what they had to to keep ratings up............then everything got put on the internet.

  • I completely missed this show on Toonami, wasn't into much else than DBZ when this show aired, but 8 years after it aired I had read a few articles about this show and finally bought it on DVD. The marketing for this series outside of Toonami sucked, especially how they set up the DVDs, but it is a very good mini series/movie that while it was originally meant to show off 3D technology use in anime is steeped in some interesting philosophical points.

  • Stu Snyder disliked this twice.

  • the story is like a cross between island of dr moreau and waterworld

  • @imxformed EXACTLY!

  • I remember when this series came out; even by those days' standards, the CGI looked dreadfuly out of place.

  • I miss Toonami...

  • What a bad ass commercial. Still is too after all these years.

  • Help me out here...besides this and the dbz movies, what other anime movies did toonami run? I remember gundamn wing endless waltz. But what else? Thanks to any help

  • @Jbruggs Trigun, Cardcaptors, Tenchi, Sailormoon, Outlaw Star, G Gundam, Cyborg 009, yu Yu Hakusho

  • @TommyTonsuls nice. I remember the Tenchi and Hakusho. dont remember the outlaw star movie...what was it called? The rest dont spike my interest, never much cared for them as shows.

  • smokin' a toothpick

  • My Nostalgia sense is tingling.

  • I think I'm gonna look for this online. Brings back memories. Toonami was awesome. I remember in like 04' when they changed it to that saturday night action anime that was just called "Saturday"

watched it for DBGT and everything started going downhill after that. Good thing adult swim still had good anime at the time. Still, I miss DBZ, Gundam, Tenchi, ect...

  • lol, optimus prime.

  • OPTIMUUUUUUUUSS

  • Blue Submarine No. 6 Premires November 6th at 6.

    666, creapy.

  • Peter Cullen FTW!

  • I remember that one night, when Toonami did a marathon of all the ep's of Blue Submarine in one night... that was amazing... And I agree with what most have said here, what has come of Cartoon Network is a crime against kids...

  • "One man is despised above all others..."

  • i remember when i was really young and watched bo bo bo booooo (cant remember how to spell it) and naruto (literally tried to stay up late on Saturdays just to watch it) oh nostalgia

  • If only it were the future of anime.

  • I remember watching this on television as a child. Years later all I could remember were the faces of Hayami and Mutio, Hayami's bitterness, and Velg's cries of sorrow. It took me years to find the title of this anime so I could watch it again and it still makes me cry. What they've done to Cartoon Network is a crime.

  • @xXZipCodePostalXx if i could love this comment i would. i just found out what this title was too yesterday and i almost cried. im so stoked to rewatch this at christmas time

  • you know, this was the first anime I ever saw. Been a closet fan ever since.

  • Thank you for putting this up.

I miss what Toonami used to be. That and their counterpart CNX.

They used to air this anime all the time on that channel.

The executives should have kept the channel going.

    BUT NO!

Instead we all got to watch Cartoon Network slowly shrivel into a channel with no quality shows.

1990-early 2000's, the era of quality childrens programming.

    You will be missed.

  • I remember this mini series when I was about 12 or 13 and saw this commercial. I also have fond memories of sitting in front of the T.V from Monday to Thursday watching each of the four episodes. This was probably the last living memory I have of Toonami. Great times :D

  • i distinctly remember this as a movie...not a series...oh well guess ill just have to check it out!

  • @Fyraga1 The show was re-edited for content when it aired on Toonami.

All four episodes were edited together into a small OVA film on DVD. The DVD contains the Toonami-version.

    I has said DVD.

  • Blue Sub No. 6, Nov. 6 at 6. 666. Nice Toonami... lol

  • If you've seen this series, it's really friggen sad. This was adult stuff for me as a child when I watched it.

  • Just watched all of the episodes of this show! :) It was pretty damn epic! Its a shame that not alot of people know about this anime, and this show tends to get overlooked. :(

  • @FGH9G Where did you get to watch all the episodes?

  • @msnubootysux I just googled dubhappy. You'll find it. :)

  • Toonami should become its own network. With time slots for specific demographics.

  • @MissLoveTantei91 They shoud make you the boss of Cartoon Network because that is a FANTASTIC idea :D

  • just the fact they get managed to get this on toonami and not lose any of the plot in editing just shows how big toonami's balls were back in the day.

  • Kinda sounds like the NWO

  • 0:47 when i first saw this on toonami,to me back then,he looked like saddam o_o

i know that sounds weird lol sorry..

  • There are some things that I look back on when I was a kid and think, "What was I thinking?" This, however, still gives me chills. Such a great show. Toonami was amazing.

  • Another show to watch is Submarine 707 it has a old school anime nostalgic vibe.

  • im pretty sure cartoon network in general has gone down the drain. i miss the 90s cartoon network

  • I have to say when I saw the ending of this anime when i was a kid, it was probably the first time a cartoon brought me to the verge of tears. Love this anime.

  • Is that Optimus Prime talking in the background?

  • @cici2121 Yes it is. Toonami used Peter Cullen for all of their spots around the early 2000's

  • Toonami was what mad cartoon network the best. Now that it's gone, cartoon network has just gone downhill. I miss it very much.

  • They could bring Toonami back and it still wont be the same... So, R I P Toonami 4ever

  • it was such a great anime...can't believe how toonami has died out over the years... nobody cares about the stupid kid's shows, why replace the anime? I miss outlaw star...

  • @KradSoba

looool I wouldn't exactly classify Outlaw Star as suitable for kids! Some of the stuff was a little too adult I guess. Anyways- it's the curse of all awesome anime stations. It happened to Toonami, Locomotion and Canal Buzz. Amazing anime stations are just doomed to be short-lived I'm afraid! : '(

  • @KradSoba

And DBZ, Tenchi, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam Wing, Cowboy Bebop, Blue Sub (obviously), Megas XLR (freakin' hilarious), all their specials, etc. Too bad Cartoon Network completely messed it up... I adore Toonami.

  • @Surya112 sailor moon too :)

  • This reminds me of Atragon. All they need is a giant Sea Serpent.

  • can some one tell me where i can find toonami version of this

  • is there a english version of this?

  • I own it on DVD! fond memories, Toonami was an amazing program, The late 90's to early 2000's was the golden age for Cartoons, Bugs and Daffy was on Tom and Jerry as well,Toonami with DBZ and Gundam and Bebop! now its all terrible.

  • The narrator for the Toonami commercials was Peter Cullen, AKA Optimus Prime.

    ;)

  • I remember Reboot, Sailor Moon S, DBZ, Tenchi in Tokyo, and then Blue Sub No. 6 would come on..... and that would always finish out toonami for the few episodes it was aired. Omg good old days when I was ignorant about everything and just enjoyed what I had... Oh well, all good things come to an end.

  • @Oshidorinohina This was the first anime I ever watched

That was 10 years ago and yeah, I remember being in high school, having to TAPE shows off of cartoon network and adult swim. I can even remember watching gundam wing ads that were mixed to Linkin park songs of the hybrid theory album

I'm only 24 but I feel so damn old

  • @TheFunkyDomination

dude i remember being like 8 and 9 (im 18 now) and waiting til toonami came on. I loved the early gundam wing episodes, i watched blue sub 6, all that shit back in the day...

    this was a total throwback

  • @Oshidorinohina dude i dont remember tokyo which was that again? butluv the rest those where all classics im trying to remeber this other space anime one but caant:( its not outlaw in not cowboy bebop

  • OMG ITS OPTIMUS PRIME!

  • toonami and blue sub 6 rocked!! one idiot missed the like button lol

  • that anime was bonkers.

  • I love how it starts. "In the near future, one man is despised above all others."

  • Blue Submarine No 6 shows on Monday Nov 6th at 6pm!? o.O... Subliminal message much? 0:50

  • wow i did not realize who's voice that was. but now its weird not hearing him say "Autobots ROLL OUT"

  • i miss toonami

  • Such a good plot, I'm pissed I skipped watching this as a kid. I gotta go back and watch it. *Searches every vid site*

  • I remember this!!! O___O Hard to believe this is a decade ago!!

  • I have been trying to this of the name of this anime for ever not until i bought a gundam DVD did i find it with a list of animes and that's when i knew that that was it

  • yea i remember this commercial being on for a while before the episode aired. ive been lookin up toonami stuff all day. i feel like im 10 again.

  • yeah ive been looking up toonami promos too. i remember coming home one day and mad that dbz wasnt on and this was. so i watched and soon was happy and a little disturbed. this show rocked!

  • I think Toonami should be the channel just like Boomerang for example.

  • @silencecrow0 2 years an 13 thumbs up later

  • "I do not accept this world, to it, I shall always say no." That is the most epic quote I have ever heard.

  • the translators did a damn good job with that line. it's the main reason i wanted to watch the trailer again, along with the trademark toonami techno mix in the background soundtrack.

  • this started anime for me =)

  • i remember seeing this i was impatient until it aired i believe it was on a Saturday

  • Oh wows, Peter Cullen O_O

  • I saw anime boobs for the first time in this series...

  • Theres no more Adult in Adult swim...

not like how it was... when I was littler I respected Adult Swim cause it showed awesome shows that made me Think. That even goes for the "comedy aspect" and those good ol Action Saturdays

  • Rip toonami witch was the heart and soul of somethings that where cool , fuck u Hannah montana and disny , and wat the fuck is with all this american cartoons that look like anime

  • yeah, fuck that hannah mon-cunt... as my roommate so fondly says...

  • I remember this animation, it was the very 1st one animation i seen. "i was like wtf is this cartoon omg this is awesome!!"

  • i remeber seeing a commercial for this when i was 3 or 4(yes i did watch toonami then) but i was pissed cause i would always tune in when the show was ending or over

  • Except you're 16. And the show aired November 6, 2000, which means you were like 7 or 8. not 3 or 4. Unless they were airing the commercials what...4-5 years ahead of time?

Even so, if you're 16, Toonami began in 97. So even if you were watching Toonami from day one, you would have been like 5.

    Denied.

  • Peter Cullen is the best narrator. His ads for toonami were epic and they drip with nostalgia. If he did anothewr ad for an anime it would be epic.

  • Did anybody hear that they are making a live action movie of this? That's gonna either be really cool, or really bad. But either way, we all get to see a girl dressed up as Mutio.

  • yeah i heard there was gonna be one back in like 2006. then you google it, you get nothing. seriously let me know if you find out anything else!

  • Dude all of these Toonami commercials were badass, now all the shows on there are lame as hell!!

  • i feel yeah brah, shit i see my little brothers watching toonami and now its all gay shit. Im like wtf? wheres gundam wing, wheres outlaw star... WHERE IS DBZ!?!

  • Yea I know right!? Doesnt make any sense, and even adult swim had some badass shows too, but not anymore I want my Pilot Canidate, and Cowboy Bebop back!

  • You actually liked Pilot Candidate? lol

  • whatever happened to the good ol days?

  • hands down blue sub is the best if not one of the best animes ever, especially as far as plots go. a live action movie would be insaaaaaaaane! but probably really hard to prefect.

  • 3rd - 7th grade then it went to the shitter damn they just don't have shows like this anymore.

  • i remember seeing this commercial when I was like 7. It was the greatest thing I'd ever seen in my life at the time.

  • god DAMN talk about a blast from the past

  • If no one saw yet, DimensionAnime is putting up the ENTIRE MINISERIES of Blue Submarine No. 6!! I watched a couple and they're of good quality.

  • Thanks Lambo

  • why exactly was toonami pulled? i know it may not have been as popular as cartoon network, but there were loads of good shown on it to begin with.

i only ever saw the first part of blue sub 6 :(

  • This is when toonami was at it's best

  • One of the awsome animes the used to make toonami great..

  • Lol it's like ever sense i stoped watching toonami it slowly started to die! But thank god for toonami some of the best anime ever seen! yuy hakusho, Gundamwing, dragonball/z,sailor moon, rest of the gundam series, Reboot, Big O, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi muyo series, i can go on and on I will let one of you youtubers out there to finish my list!

  • Big O was definitely one of my favorites

  • MY FIRST ANIME

  • my third, dragon ball z was first and gundam wing was second

  • My first aswell.

I was just a wee kid when I first saw it.

Before this, it'd been nothing but Disney crap.

My fucking jaw dropped out of my skull.

God bless Toonami for showing me REAL animation.

  • What do you mean "R.I.P Toonami"?

Has it really changed that much?

  • They took it off cartoon network.

  • sorry buddy but Toonami was long dying before its 2008 departure, even still RIP to the program loved by millions and death to the corp world and censorship

  • this show brings back alot of memerys and when did they take it off?

  • ARE YOU INSANE!!!!!!!!!!?????????

  • It ended before it offically ended.

  • @The6Forgotten6One6

Originally, Toonami was allowed to show as much blood as they wanted. After a coupled years, people started to complain, considering it was a 2 hour block of anime for kids. They got more strict, and in the late years, everything that was remotely good wasn't shown anymore. They changed everything (even Tom, the Toonami mascot) to appeal to a more sensitive audience, and it turned into shit. Their ratings went way way down, and it as finally cancelled. Toonami was the shit.

  • @Surya112 Yeah, I remember as a kid in one of the ads they showed a clip of a robot dude stabbing some (off screen) person with this huge knife and blood spattering everywhere. Then eventually they started showing things like Hamtaro and I was like WTF?

  • I remember watching this as a kid, and all I could think about was how I wanted to watch Gundam Wing instead of this. I hated it so much when It came out mainly because I wanted to watch Wing or DBZ. Sounds good now that I'm not resentful. However, I think I'll pass.

  • Word. I remember falling asleep to this while anticipating Samurai Jack. It had an amazing soundtrack.

  • i remember this sick ass show

it scared me when i was a kid

  • just wonderin' what made it sick ass?

  • lol, i dont know i just remember flashes of graphic images

    of fish people or something

  • same thing especiially verg that freaky voice of his made me wet my pants...........

  • Holy crap, the dub was insanely good for the time.

  • its only subbed on veoh

  • All anime is better subbed.

  • I certainly do prefer Blue Submarine No. 6 subbed! (pun intended)

  • not hellsing

  • No it's not. weeaboo.

  • It's really something how unanimous everyone's opinions are of the current state of affairs with Cartoon Network, and specifically with Toonami. You'd think with such an obvious public opinion, the big bosses behind the network would realize what we want and make the right changes, but NOOOOOO, they just keep putting on low quality crap. Granted, there's not much being MADE these days that's good, but they could just rerun the old programming, it's been long enough now that it would feel fresh.

  • >: It was a sad day when toonami became crap and then turn into CN too in europe (i think so anyway)

  • i dont know if anybody remember but cartoon network was bought off by someone along time ago and thats why they changed. at least im pretty sure thats what happend.

  • you know, that would explain a helluva lot

  • wow dude i miss those days when they used to have kick ass anime on Toonami , Outlaw star, Blue sub, Dragonball , Gundams, so many good shows, now they got shit on Tv , i wish i could go back in time those days where fun

  • I remember coming home from school and watching Gundam Wing and Macross. Now, I come home from school and the best thing on is the Cosby Show.

  • Hell, i remeber back to when that show Reboot was on after school at the very beginning of toonami

  • Fuck yeah! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

  • me also T_T

  • You can download "VeohTV" free just google it and you can watch this once again.

  • I remember the good old days when this was on, starship troopers anime was on, as well as tons of other great shows. The whole point is to make every subsequent generation of humanity smarter than the previous, in U.S sadly its not the case cause every generation is becoming dumber and dumber and dumber. A normal person can go insane watching the junk thats 24/7 on cartoon network nowadays.

Yes they deserve to die, and I hopethey burn in hell.

  • @bladehawkmaster Its not only in the US like this. Here in Germany they replaced Comedy Central with Nick(What is almost as crappy as CN)

I am not watching tv anymore because if i start to like a show or channel they replace it with crap.

And I hope the people who do this get what they deserve , just dieng would be to good for them.

  • @bladehawkmaster this comment makes me laugh. not in a bad way, just because this feeling is so true but not so true in the same way. i believe it was plato who constantly brought up the things the younger generation in his age did. he said basically the same things you did. however, this is not true, or we wouldnt even be able to put our shoes on ourselves. contrary to what you think, each generation is getting smarter, its just the older generations' viewpoints that make it seem the opposite.

  • @bladehawkmaster

You speak truth. I miss toonami. and that guy "Tom"

such a great program, they fucked it all up...

we had such great animated shows in the from 98ish-2002...

    what happened?

  • @corporateCoffee

Blame Hannah Montanna. She hijacked our TV screens >:@

  • WHY DOES CARTOON NETWORK TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING WE LOVE AND REPLACE IT WITH BULLSHIT?!? They really need to bring stuff like this back. =(

  • Right on man!

  • Aah I remember watching this on Cartoon Network YEARS AGO (when CN actually played good stuff and wasn't a big pile of crap)

I loved it, I'm so glad I found it again <3

  • that guy with the stache reminds me of sergeant johnson from halo a lot

  • one of the best animes debuted on cartoon network

  • What? All I said was that it's gay that it's licensed OVA. I guess those are poeple who don't want to see the good odl days of Toonami again.

  • But do you notice what I did... not ONE FUCKING PERSON HAS PUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE UP. Why not!

  • Maybe because it's not a movie. It's a an anime show that aired on Toonami a while back.

  • It's a four part series, in my opinion a movie. I'm not sure why I got a negative # on my comment, and I'm not sure why you felt you should correct me. And my friend, it still does not give a reason as to why it has not been put up yet. You did not answer my question so be silent.

  • OK, buddy, chill the fuck out. I didn't give you the negative, and excuse me for not realizing that to you "four episodes"="movie". To me, putting up episodes for a show is more unlikely than putting up a movie, so really I did answer your question, but not explicitly enough, it seems.

  • Shhhh

  • So how 'bout someone put the whole series up ...i watched this as a kid so i don't remember most of this

  • You can download "VeohTV" free just google it and you can watch this once again.

  • This is a licensed OVA anime. If someone puts it up ,they can get into federal legal troubles, except for cartoon network.

  • yeah, too bad its worth buying.

  • ahh... good times, good times.

  • i've all ways wanted to find out what this was caled after all those years!

  • me too. i finally found the name after looking up toonami on wikipedia.

  • ahh... good times, good times.

  • yea its been awhile since i saw this on toonami like 5 years ago, i havent seen in so long i forgot what it was called until now, i used to think it was the big blue or something like that
