I have had dogs all my life. We have never had to resort to taping the ears. We had a pup with one floppy ear and all is needed is gentle daily massage and thats enough to strengthen the ligaments and increase the circulation in the ear and it worked all the same, without the use of tape... ;p

Depends on the breed. The Chinese Cresteds heavy hair on the ears force the ears down. So the tape just helps.

People do this on many breeds, Pugs, Dobermann, Boxers, Amstaffs, Chihuahuas and so on.

And if the dog dosen't mind it - its not crul. Never :)

no the tape isnt good for it....very unnatural for any dog....and cruel in fact. If its for fashion/show purposes...then that industry is sick

It no more cruel than a collar - the dog don't know he has it on. And its only for a day at the time, till he is 6 months.

Silas is 2 years old now, and have the most beautiful upstanding ears. And he hasn't seen tape since he was a puppy :D

Its not cruel. The dog dosen't mind it - if you are doing it right.

And for dogs-shows you have to make the ears stand - and the hair is too heavy for them to stand on its own, so the tape just helps the ears. And its only for a couple of weeks.

Silas don't have tape on his ears any more.
