  • Your comparisons are weak as hell bud

  • Honestly,I don't wanna start anything cause I'm not that kinda guy,but alot of song will sound similar from time to time.Heck,one-fourths of songs worldwide will sound the same when compared.Another thing is no matter what anyone says,I will always love Linkin Park. And finally to all you people who will start trolling on for example this guy just because he/she disagrees with your statement, you need to chill, you have to realize not everyone likes what you like. Thanks for reading.

  • very poor presentation. you lost my interest after 7 seconds.

  • What song is that on 2:05 min??

  • Reason for Linkin Park changing style? So don't hate LP

  • Megadeth's Trust Drum Intro was used in two other songs but just because of that, you can hate them all. It's how the entire song sounds not just a part because in the end all songs will sound the same if you just listen to a part.

  • Well this is what sells. Nobody is going to care how "unique" or interesting the songs are as long as they sell.

  • Mortalkombat theme is great, :D

  • while i ABSOLUTELY agree with your premise that all pop music is just a recreation of itself.....this was a pretty week approach at delivering that message.

  • Someone get this retard away from the computer.

  • other than slating linkin park for use of the same sounding drum loop the most you've done is found similer drum loops and wow clever you found some similer songs it happends sometimes musicians dont relise it sounds the same so really try alittle harder next time you post a video stating things we know

  • The ending was awesome. Case proven!

  • I actually don't get the Linkin Park thing? I don't know but some of the songs you listed don't sound that much alike. Lol, maybe I just didn't pay enough attention, or you over analyze.

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS, YES ALL MODERN MAINSTREAM MUSIC IS 100% BULLSHIT GENERIC WASTE OF SOUND WAVES

  • There is a book where there is everything in it to explain what kind of notes and music people like. When it comes to Kanye West and hip hop - that is sampling and a whole new other thing.

  • There's only so many ways you can begin a song...

  • Thumbs up Alcia Keys and mortal combat and daft punk is a pretty sweet mix you so remix the 3 songs of theirs

  • making mainstream music is very easy. Simple beats added with catchy lyrics. Sometimes I wonder why I'm not famous. Well time to get to work

  • LOL.... The Alicia keys and kayne west examples is FUCKING stupid.. The only thing in common is the 4/4 beat..

  • k comparing two songs from the same artist? no shit it sounds the same its from the same band. plus you're not even playing the whole song. so you're wrong anyways.

so why don't you stop listening to this mainstream/pop shit music if you're so sick of hearing the same thing over and over again?

dont ever take mainstream stuff seriously. or media. or anything the general public gives too much attention to. learn to be unique and individual rather than like everyone else.

  • ....Okay, fuck you for wasting six minutes of my life....

  • the "with or without you" progression, I V VI IV, in music speak, is about the most used progression ever.. notable exceptions here are glycerine (bush), pictures of you (the last goodnight), crash and burn (savage garden), torn (natalie imruglia), when you come around (greenday) although the timing is a little different.., that was just off the top of my head~ with some research there are probably dozens

  • wow. You are an idiot.

  • the RHCP comparason was a bit of a stretch.

  • Some of these are pretty good, but I think the Alicia Keys-Daft Punk-Kanye West-Mortal Kombat thing is pretty far-fetched.

  • the chili peppers one is very unfair on them. and the semisonic one not even close to snow patrol. same with kanye.

  • dude, it's almost like some bands have the same genre, or even that the same band makes similar songs.

  • Although it's pretty clear that you're a consumer of music, and some of the examples aren't neccessarily good examples, (i.e., No One should've been compared with "Where is the Love", since it's almost a direct rip, and probably intentional) the mash-up at the end was AWESOME and EPIC. You really should try doing mash-ups more often. =) I'm replaying it over and over.

  • they do that on purpose to show they like the song, apretiate there work or even show they like the beat.

  • I don't listen to the radio. The radio is where you go when you DON'T want to listen to music.

  • ha ha. lol. thats great.

  • last comparison is terrible.

also, you do realize that all music. i mean ALL MUSIC is recycled, right?

all of it. it always has been and always will be. thats because in each key, there are only so many variations of notes that sound good together. after only a few thousand songs, your going to wind up with alot of stuff being similar

  • So is your face.

  • Cool dude, it's pretty funny :P

  • Don't forget the constant use of the word "Baby"

  • try helena by the misfits(3 and 4 verse) and sanitarium by metallica (pre solo verse)

  • Linkin Park gets to much beef for their music. Look, Linkin Park is a band, right? So they make music, right? And as a band, they have a certain style, Right? So isn't there, I don't know a REASON for them to have a bit of similarities in songs? And of the others, I'm sure you could dredge up any modern day alternative band, and put them against some other modern rock group. It's alternative, it all sounds the same.

  • I know what you mean. Linkin Park does that because they like the beats. I heard it from the source because of a very old interveiw I saw with them in it.

  • There is nothing new under the sun.

  • Congratulations you discovered the remix...Gold Star

  • this is why jazz is the best kind of music

  • linkin park rulz

  • It all boils down to the fact that music is an industry to make money, and I guarantee that those who like Linkin Park will like more of the same Linkin Park. If the current theme of the day is Snow Patrol, then if you're a music producer, you're going to start making music that sounds roughly the same. People buy it and the same crap is recreated, reboxed, and resold to people who have no taste in music.

  • The problem with Numb and crawling is that its the same tempo, same chords and same style. So they ripped off themselves.

As for RHCP and Tome Petty. Tom Petty has yet to try and sue, so I'd say he has no problem with it.

  • Dude there is only 7 different note(ABCDEFG) there is bound the be some similarities

  • Plus, there's only so much you can do w/ a beat style & speed wise, & still sound good. Plus, some of the examples were a stretch.

  • quarter notes?

  • Are you shitting me? Have you forgotten about sharps and flats? Do you have any fucking idea how many combinations there are if you just randomly generated notes in key for two measures with

  • Again, you still gotta make it sound good. Plus, w/ all the groups out there, signed and unsigned, stuff is gonna sound the same, either purposely or coincidently.

  • yeah man there are only 2 different bits (1 and 0) there are bound to be some similarities.

    Stupid.

  • i love linkin park :P

  • Almost all modern music is based off of jazz and blues, so it can tend to sound the same. Great point about the red hot chilli peppers stealing from Mary Jane's Last Dance.

  • ok sorry for all the comments but that wasnt a good combination to mix crawling and numb. and everyone knows with or without you is similar to shadow of the day. the thing is songs always tend to resemble another especially within the same band. if u listened to more you would realize that all pop music can be strung together. the ones that are intertwined with hip hop which is why its so annoying

  • and does that mean that they play numb, crawling etc on the radio even now? they mainly play new music onlyt here and barely old linkin park songs.

  • but all pop songs nowadays sound EXACTLY the same. i seriously feel like theyre all related.

  • actually the thing about numb and crawling are that they have that same sound in the beginning but they are not the same trust me.

  • Those are poor comparisons, you've just noticed certain musical features and composing techniques within songs and found other songs that have the same features or techniques, this isn't copying, the Kanye West song, Alicia Keys song and Mortal Kombat theme bear pracitcally no similarities, they just have the same beat for a short while.

  • what this man meant to say about the last 3 songs is that they have the same chord progression, but didn't have the words to say it. it is true that the songs are extremely different apart from the chord progressuin, so i don't suspect the artists of copying. + the 4 chord progression is well knonw to be included in more than half the pop music hits. just search on youtube "four chord song" or something like that.

  • I think that this is quite well known already.

Most bands learn from each other.

Some people are influenced by others and almost attempt to look like them too eg Liam Gallagher from Oasis - John Lennon.

Originality shows musicianship, but not all covers are bad, as listen to how simple some of the lines are. Similar sounds ar ealways going to be.

  • No, it's just proof that the music industry is run by less than ten producers that recycle the same sound time and again.

  • its not always the producer that makes the sound though. thats for pop hits. like in linkin park, they make the music themselves. if you watch the making of their albums. they put effort into them and the producer just helps them achieve what they want by telling them what they thought of it. this is what i could figure out

  • I've listened to all of Linkin Park's songs, and I can honestly say there's very little effort put into any of them.

  • i really dont. just by listening youre not gonna get anything ok?

  • @scitek not at all, the only way to produce truly original music would be to give birth to a baby in a cabin and lock him in there with a guitar, everyone is influenced by someone or something else, no two songs are the same

  • @scitek

i agree with everything, but there is an undeniable fail in this video. you say crawling and numb sound the same, but there are clearly differences. you fail to realize the difference between sounding the same and playing in the same key. you can take any songs of the same genre or band that are in the same key and put them together.

  • With that colors, looks like "Adult Swim". Jajaja.

  • I think you're reaching on some of these.

  • Meh. I don't agree with the title you put on your video, but you're entitled to your own opinion.

    Closing Time <3

  • Kayne West stole from Daft Punk. You failed to mention this, and therefore fial in general.

  • I don't fail to mention anything. I clearly state "Which uses a Daft Punk song," right after the song is played. Learn to read and you'll see that. And he didn't "steal" anything, it's called sampling.

  • Oops, sorry, I meant I don't "fial" to mention anything.

  • @scitek

oh, and HOW IN THE HELL is the mortal combat theme popular music? i also heard that buckethead wrote the mortal combat theme, im not sure.

  • @Fluffypopcicle no the original mortal combat theme was a techno club song by some idk techno group but he did perform Goro's theme tho

  • @Nhia89

yeah, but he and some other guys remixed it and the remix made millions within weeks.

  • Hey Scitek, the "Unknown Artist" is KMFDM and thats WAYYYY old. Kanye and Alicia have some explaining to do.

  • Is it really KMFDM? I didn't realize that. I know Utah Saints did a crappy rendition.

  • oh wow!!! you just discovered something!! lol

so what if they sound the same? I already knew that.

  • Goes to show how original artists are today.

  • on the first and second case is probably because is a rythmin base (I´m not sure if it´s called like that on english) and it´s very common as the drums have a kind of standar rythms as well as the bass.

  • You're right to an extent, but the fact that so many songs use the same formula goes to help explain why it all sounds the same.

  • you should put the name of the songs playing.

  • Yeah, unfortunately, I can't change the video since I lost it, but I updated the information to the right so you can see the songs if you're unfamiliar with them. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Me and my friend Mariah were both singing Crawling when she started the chorus to Numb. That's when we realized that they were damn near the same. xD

  • Aw. I like Linkin Park but I have to admit you're right. So observant. Anywayz, towards the end of you're video, I was expecting there to be a scary image or something to pop up on the screen. You know the kind of video I'm talking about? the ones that have you listen closely and look at the screen then scare the sh!t out of you? LOL
