You know I had a wild bird (not sure what kind) fly into our porch and get stuck in it so I had to catch it and when I eventually did it stopped freaking out and hung out with me there for a few hours. I opend the door several times to let it go but it didn't leave lol. Eventually it left but it came back to see us a few times that winter before it left. Haven't seen it since. But it's surprising to see how calm animals can be if you treat them with respect. They can tell when you won't.
My guess is that he was raised by the same people that live in that area. Otherwise he was a pet from someone else an they left him there cause they couldn't take care of him. I know a mean thing to say but it does happen but he is of age to be able to take care of himself AND he also knows how to MOOCH from passers by. LOL. All in all you did make a friend. Most ravens are sociable but this one was way too sociable. He knew you had food and he followed you around like a pet.
I think you are very lucky to have met such a beautiful creature :) And if you look up Raven symbolism you may be surprised. They are not the negative creatures people tend to think they are! Koodos dude this is something you will remember for the rest of your life.
I watched all your raven videos and I found them very amazing! Perhaps you are a reincarnation of the norse god Odin who had 2 ravens as pets, they were named Huginn(memory) and Muninn(Thought) You must know how to speak the tongue of animals haha, did it have a name by any chance?
i htink it was a pet raven and is looking to another human to feed it since it dosent really know how to fend for itself, but its just a guess. awsome video htough ^_^ really makes my day
never seen a wild animal behave like that before, been followed by ducks and geese that thought i had food, but the raven let you stroke it which is bizarre, you obviously have some kind of animal magnetism.
@demonjack123 It was an archery range. No one was there but the bird on this visit. Went back a couple more times to see if s/he was still there. No luck. Got kicked out on the second visit by a Ted Nugent wannabe with a crossbow. Told me to NEVER come back. Wasn't about to argue. As for the knife, it was a Frost Barracuda. Don't remember where I got it... Cheers.
@demonjack123 It was posted PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING and there was a cable and a chain across the road down to it. I've lived in the area my whole life and never tried, but on this day I went for it. Just turfed my little motorcycle around the roadblock and I was in. Glad I did.
@marek0086 If reincarnation is a load of rubbish, why does the bible tell us that Jesus will turn up again? How can he do that if he isn't reincarnated?
@marek0086 its disrespectful... Just because you are christian that doesnt mean you can do whatever you want.If you are christian you would answer with respect towards other dudes religion. For everything in bible there is no evidence same as budism and other religions and that is why you believe, and in that you are same as them.
@ViLLaPiNoZ if it were so inclined, it could have flipped the situation in a flash, grabbed the knife, jacked my pack, and rode off on my motorcycle. i feel i was given some form of pass. my lucky day.

@snardlefarb You are an amazing person and the Raven knew it. ( I am saying Raven because of the tail shape and the color...Ravens are a blue black (or purple black) and their tails when spread out are triangular. Ravens are larger than crows and are typically only seen in parks, woodlands. You are blessed because they (Ravens) are generally shy...the crows are the social ones. Hats up to you hanging out with the bird as you did!
@pateho thanks for the kind words and support. it seems the raven/crow debate will never end. doesn't matter much to me, but find myself in the raven party.
That is awesome xD But I think that that raven may have been hand reared when it was a baby and then released or had grown so used to humans feeding it that it didn't care xD
It looks so cute when it just has it's mouth open beggin all the time lol
i wasn't rational because throughout this encounter, the natural world wasn't either. i thought i did rather well considering, in my time on this planet, ravens just didn't do this. no birds did. but this one tweaked my reality. profoundly.
that is so wild, what an awesome experience! did he ever nip at you? i remember the tour guide at theTower of London said the ravens there sometimes peck at people's eyes and fingers so i was scared to get near them when i was there
That would have been alot of fun! its fun when stuff happens like that and you get it on tape! i talked to a squirrel once, but it looked like it was frozen in fear.
He's cool with you! Seems you're on top of not feeding him too much so he remains able to feed himself. Wish I knew how old he was. Hope you have a long relationship with him.
Reminds me of a local squirrle. Little guy walks right up to me and politely plucks walnuts from my fingers and just settles down with me sitting right there. When he finishes that piece he casually saunters up for another. I can even toss nuts to the birds without spooking him three feet away.
Thanks for all these great videos! I'm playing a Raven in a play and these videos really helped me learn their caw and physical movements. Great footage!

You must read some Edgar Allen Poe to that raven next time....
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore--
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visiter," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door--
Only this and nothing more."
