Ever since the sixties, there has been a ongoing preference to kill the railway, period. If history is a judge, many more bad decisions will be made under the banner of progress.Just think,if all our closed lines were operational,we would be the envy of the world !!! so sad to see this sort of thing still going on.WHEN will this country learn,if this form of travel is what people want,WHY destroy it !! Our goverments simply do not like railways, they like PROFIT.
Many thanks for taking a walk around this fine old station, although the place may be demolished now you have preserved it here on you tube.
As a railway modeller of 34 years I have built many buildings of real stations and indeed based the entire model layout on them, my latest was thrapston sw of peterborough some movies are available on my homepage of the model.
But now I am recreating this building and starting a new layout based loosely on this station, Fine details aquired here, thanks.
Can someone please confirm whether Histon station has been demolished? I haven't been in the area for a while and this busway still seems like a bad dream.
So, by that, I assume the guided bus is not stopping there. Still there's a nice new one going up, right outside the CRC, for all them students and local ne'er-do-wells to grafitti!
Bastards they cant demolish it. Me and my mates at the Great Eastern Railway Predervation Soceity will save to buy it or the contents of the site if we have to.
Hi, I lived in Histon as boy some 40 years ago and remember going from Histon to Cambridge on the train, train spotting with my friends (the trains seem to be D2367 or similar, presumably D for diesal). I can recall a girl at school Linda Egglington, whose father was the Station Master, I wonder where Linda is now?
do up the station, chop down some of the weeds, get a little steam tank engine and have some fun!

If Histon Station is demolished it will be a disgrace.
Well done to those who have opposed this act of state vandalism directed towards a heritage site.
Is there any further news? If there is any further demo planned I will try and schedule a flying visit to add moral support.

No it'll stop at Histon...
But the old Station building, which is of historic and emotional interest is earmarked to be demolished to make way for a carpark!
Odd because cars are the exact thing the GB was meant to help put a stop to. >
NODDINGCAT 4 years ago
< Carparks encourage people to drive somewhere. I'm sure the residents of Histon don't want people driving to the GB stop, through their village.
The station building has already had it's canopy removed by the evil GB people.
The station its self has had a stay of execution, but its future is uncertain!
SAVE HISTON STATION!

No I wasn't I had no idea it was happening 'till I saw it in the paper....
A good show of force against the council's attitude towards people's opinions, needs and sense of right and wrong.
How can a busway billed as measure to reduce road traffic, require a car park at one of its stops, in a built up area?
Granted Park and Ride is a great idea, but that isn't suitable to the centre of a large Village.
There is no need to demolish the station.
