The problem is either reducing the turbinate too much or not enough. My ENT told me its better to have it reduced just a little. You can always go back and do a little more. This video shows that the turbinate was reduced too much.
i am an ens sufferer. The sugeon removes the membrane to open up the nose for easier breathing.
But he does not say whether the air passage going through his nose is warm and humid enough for the body. That is my problem, the air i breathe is too dry and irritable. I can not work properly and focus for a minute because of the problem the ent caused. my life has become miserable because of this surgeory.
@nasri2020 The surgeon was so irresponsible to have not mentioned the serious side effect of the traditional turbinectomy to remove most of the turbinate including the mucosa . Some people are suffering from serious production of mucus continously leading to miserable life in every minute. If the surgeon had told the patients the possible side effect, they would not have done such nonsense surgery.
Quite frankly this looks like over reduction to me. Such a patent airway is not necessarily a good thing - we don't want so much air being able to pass straight through without warming and humidification.

his procedure could cause empty nose syndrome if too much turbinate tissue is removed.

when will this barbaric practice stop? if your patient has not at least TRIED immunotherapy, you have no right to go cutting up their turbinates.
bardcan 2 years ago
Immunotherapy does not hlep with vasomotor rhinitis and it is barbaric to let people suffer with this condition.

No problem with overreduction. Keep in mind the nose is vasoconstricted in this video and this reverses post-op.
