you can tell this guy never played (or at least paid attention to) the other Guilty Gear games' story line. Its confusing I'll admit, but amazing and wonderfully crazy all the same.
GG2's story is confusing as all hell. It takes a few times of reading it to understand wtf they are talking about.
Also alot of characters and stuff from the old GG games are all re-names. It took me awhile to find out that the "Maiden of the Grove" is actually Dizzy when they finally showed her.
ok man in order to make a review of a game you have to clear the game once in order to do a FULL review. The story is bad? are you crazy? CLEAR THE GAME ONCE, 12 levels? And also as a side note, he's obviously an american. There are plenty of people playing this game but you have to correspond with the japanese date and time. In otherwords, our night is like their day, so play at night when they're all on. I know because I'm like..the last american that still plays it hahaha. Guilty Gear is hands down my favourite fighting games, and one of the best game series' in my opinion. However this game unfortunately doesn't interest me at all. If it wasn't xbox 360 only, I probably would have bought it simply cause it's guilty gear. Looking at the gameplay it does not justify buying a new console for it. Quite a disapointment from one of the best game franchises ever. Besides I don't use Ky or Sol much and the whole new story doesn't make me want to play it.

I first played Dust strikers on the ds and it was fun having 4 player vs in a beatm up, it didn't have any rigged moves and the arena was 4 stories tall making the battle not a clusterfuck . . . when i first heard this was coming out i thought finally a good beatm up on the 360, i hate street fighter 4 it's a zangeif spam fest. But nope we get another dynasty warriors . . .
Here in PAL land yes the UK we just got this game today a year later wondering were any updates released? this is a 505 published game in Europe. I just hope they spent some time on improving the game.
All the update they release for GG2 are available for all three regions. the last update (1.46) only added some graphical changes, and the main purpose of the update was to prepare the game for the PAL release.
the game is mainly geared to multiplayer, while the single player is really just a glorified tutorial. for what it's worth, when you learn how to play correctly, the campaign can be pretty fun, as the game is complicated. there's also split screen multiplayer. online rocks, but deserted.
A Guilty Gear hack n slash...not surprising that nobody can be found online. I love the GG fighting games, but I've never even heard of this, but it doesn't look like my cup of tea.
not too bad of a review, but you seem to have misunderstood the concept of the game. it isn't meant to be playedas DW (pure beat-em-up) it is supposed to be a RTS, just as much as it is supposed to be an action game. for example, your charecter (sol) takes forever to take a base because he not supposed to take it fast, he wasn't designed to do that. you must use your unit (the soldiers) to capture them quickly. unlike DW, you MUST use your units for victory, especially in multiplayer.
I played Guilty Gear 2 Overture from start to finish, hell, I've played all of the Guilty Gear games. So, the story is pretty good in my opinion, it's amazing to be quite honest. The gameplay is solid, simple, and fun. I found that at multiple points in your review, you complained about difficulty, which any reviewer should know, you should never touch on. Difficulty varies with the player. Otherwise, I can agree at points, not so much at others. Try harder.

i have a problem with this review at the enjoyment part when you state that the story mode is "about 12 missions" when there are 20missions. I know this because i beat story mode. Did you just count the slots that were open when you start a new game? Im not trying to start anything i would just like an accurate review. Not a review on a game that you didnt even beat.
The main weak point he seems to find is the storyline. I understood and enjoyed it, but that's only because I'm a Guilt Gear fanatic and have researched this shit aggressively. If you aren't /really/ into the series, you're not going to get it.
Also if you even watched the review to this video, which I doubt. He specifically said he had high expectations for this game, but he was dead wrong and was just average at best. He still reviewed it though.
The reviews aside, some games that may seem like crap to some people, might be enjoyable to others. From what I seen from this guys reviews so far, while certain sites give certain games a bad score, he might give a average or above average scores. And while some games might be scored way above average on certain sites, he sometimes scores slightly or way lower. That is why he is willing to try every game.
Also when did I say he buys games just so he can do reviews? I said he enjoys gaming, but doing reviews as well. Okay besides games like "Turning Point". Half gamers are those idiots who is super narrow minded and play "Halo" online 24/7 get good at it and think they are the shit, but when you ask what Halo is about they can't give you a answer. So no one really has the right to complain, I mean they can always just watch other reviewers.
Also if you look at Whitey's collection, there may be a lot of games that you might think of as being the so called shit games as well. But in my own opinion, true gamers, especially reviewers should be open minded and give certain games a try, no matter what critics may think.
It can also be cause of entertainment purposes, you know like that Angry Video Game Nerd. Who plays shit games, but a lot of people watch his videos cause it's entertaining. This game looks like those damn "Warrior" games which I am not a big fan of and would only get it if it's just that damn good. Also Whitey doesn't seem to be a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series, but played it and reviewed it anyways, by giving it a try.

It's cause Whitey is a badass reviewer, and would play the shit games so we wouldn't have to and allows the viewers to save their money. And most viewers probably agree with a lot of stuff he has to say. I personally like his reviews over gametrailers cause his reviews usually tends to come out a lot quicker, plus he just doesn't give a fuck. Like what others or game companies thinks. I wasn't really looking forward to this game and would only buy it if the price drops. But probably won't now.
Actually your question was sort of stupid. Why does he buy these shit games? A good reviewer don't only play the good games, but the shit games as well, to test it out if it fits their taste in gaming. If Whitey ONLY reviewed the good games, than people a lot of people won't bother to watch cause they know it's worth getting, besides some negative aspect of that game he might give insights on.

GG2's story is confusing as all hell. It takes a few times of reading it to understand wtf they are talking about.
Also alot of characters and stuff from the old GG games are all re-names. It took me awhile to find out that the "Maiden of the Grove" is actually Dizzy when they finally showed her.

ok man in order to make a review of a game you have to clear the game once in order to do a FULL review. The story is bad? are you crazy? CLEAR THE GAME ONCE, 12 levels? THERE ARE 20 MY FRIEND 20 including the movie scenes.In one thing you are right, nobody is playing this game i played like 3 online battles. Guilty Gear is hands down my favourite fighting games, and one of the best game series' in my opinion. However this game unfortunately doesn't interest me at all. If it wasn't xbox 360 only, I probably would have bought it simply cause it's guilty gear. Looking at the gameplay it does not justify buying a new console for it. Quite a disapointment from one of the best game franchises ever. Besides I don't use Ky or Sol much and the whole new story doesn't make me want to play it.

I first played Dust strikers on the ds and it was fun having 4 player vs in a beatm up, it didn't have any rigged moves and the arena was 4 stories tall making the battle not a clusterfuck . . . when i first heard this was coming out i thought finally a good beatm up on the 360, i hate street fighter 4 it's a zangeif spam fest. But nope we get another dynasty warriors . . .

All the update they release for GG2 are available for all three regions. the last update (1.46) only added some graphical changes, and the main purpose of the update was to prepare the game for the PAL release.
the game is mainly geared to multiplayer, while the single player is really just a glorified tutorial. for what it's worth, when you learn how to play correctly, the campaign can be pretty fun, as the game is complicated. there's also split screen multiplayer. online rocks, but deserted.

not too bad of a review, but you seem to have misunderstood the concept of the game. it isn't meant to be playedas DW (pure beat-em-up) it is supposed to be a RTS, just as much as it is supposed to be an action game. for example, your charecter (sol) takes forever to take a base because he not supposed to take it fast, he wasn't designed to do that. you must use your unit (the soldiers) to capture them quickly. unlike DW, you MUST use your units for victory, especially in multiplayer.

I played Guilty Gear 2 Overture from start to finish, hell, I've played all of the Guilty Gear games. So, the story is pretty good in my opinion, it's amazing to be quite honest. The gameplay is solid, simple, and fun. I found that at multiple points in your review, you complained about difficulty, which any reviewer should know, you should never touch on. Difficulty varies with the player. Otherwise, I can agree at points, not so much at others. Try harder.

i have a problem with this review at the enjoyment part when you state that the story mode is "about 12 missions" when there are 20missions. I know this because i beat story mode. The reviews aside, some games that may seem like crap to some people, might be enjoyable to others. From what I seen from this guys reviews so far, while certain sites give certain games a bad score, he might give a average or above average scores. And while some games might be scored way above average on certain sites, he sometimes scores slightly or way lower. That is why he is willing to try every game.

Okay besides games like "Turning Point". It's cause Whitey is a badass reviewer, and would play the shit games so we wouldn't have to and allows the viewers to save their money. And most viewers probably agree with a lot of stuff he has to say. I personally like his reviews over gametrailers cause his reviews usually tends to come out a lot quicker, plus he just doesn't give a fuck. Like what others or game companies thinks. I wasn't really looking forward to this game and would only buy it if the price drops. But probably won't now.

Actually your question was sort of stupid. Why does he buy these shit games? A good reviewer don't only play the good games, but the shit games as well, to test it out if it fits their taste in gaming. If Whitey ONLY reviewed the good games, than people a lot of people won't bother to watch cause they know it's worth getting, besides some negative aspect of that game he might give insights on.

Not sure if you allow requests, but you should review Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness for the PSP. Great game!
