I like KA's have two so i can build two haha its nice to find a friend who doesn't want a ka that runs with about 170000 miles and now has a sr thats got blown turbo seals winning. And theKA in my garge getting torn down to start piecing together a pretty built bottom end.

As far as drifting is concerned, I believe that the SR is more suitable because of its powerband and because of the larger aftermarket available. It has a higher redline and it tends to have more high end, where as the KA has more mid.
Not only do you have to turbo the ka24.. but it needs to be tuned. No matter what you do to it.. it redlines at just over 6k rpm. SR20 is a race built and proven engine in japan. KA24? Honestly do you ever hear of people swapping in ka24s? Why does everyone have to be biased because of what they own. An sr20 is reliable,cheap to mod, and has loads of potential. Just slapping a turbo on a ka24 will maybe make the same hp numbers.. but it cant hold boost for shit. Get over it.
@mmdaniels33 The KA has loads of potential as well. With tune, forged internals, t3/t4 setup it's a beast to be reckoned with. On stock internals and the right tune a well maintained KA can be pushed to about 12 psi.

KA motor = $0(i alrdy have it) sr20 = about $2,000. Then building up the motor should cost about same price for both. So no matter what, i waste 2000 more on the SR and then it still loses to KA... ill stick with the ka thanks. Plus, i have owned both so i know. o and stop yelling.

I have had the luck of driving both the SR20det and a KA24det and can tell you that they have very different characteristics. The KA can be built to be perfectly reliable with time and money as can the SR.
I have a 240sx and my buddy does a really good Ka24de ecu tune for $50 and your old ecu, he just exchanges you a ecu thats tuned. very soon he will finish his e85 tune which is beast. right now he only has it for a ka24e but you need to mess with your timing to avoid premature detonation

best bolt on is the pulley, and an ecu upgrade, its the perfect combo :) o and make sure u change ur cat. conv. every once in a while(maybe every 3 or 4 yrs) makes a big diff.
Wow thats pretty impressive for a n/a ka! That's almost as fast as my stock 2001 5 speed max. I also have a 98 altima with 2k1 ka24de i was planning on going KA-T but I think I may change my plans and do N/a ka with high cr pistons and itbs :)
why? it works great, thats called a chirp... my turbo 240sx jumps from like 35mph to like 52mph when i shift into second, its just quick shifting something u maybe dont know about.

sorry about the stock phrase, i meant i havent done anything to engine, just lil things here and there. By upgraded ecu i mean i got my ECU tuned(it has faster throttle response, no speed limit, and my car pulls way harder than a normal 240sx). I think the fastest ive gone up to was 140mph :)
