These guys are REAL martial artists. Highly skilled and ferociously tough. It does my heart good to see that this is happening in America - we've become a nation of weak, whiny, fat, lazy pussys. These guys are AWESOME.
is there a novice division. I've got tons of submission grappling, brazilian jiujitsu, gung-fu, and thai exp. but no weapons whatsoever. I'd still love to do this.
@pedro90 there are no didvisions, weight classes, or rules (except 1). As in the street, you really don't have the convenience of being equally paired up. Best thing is to tell people you've never fought like this before. many experienced fighters will help you pair up with others OR fight you and take you along this journey themselve (push, but not break)
kudos to those who fought. just one thing i want to point out: grappling mentality in FMA could develop bad habits. look at 6:47, the big guy decided to take his opponent to the ground to pound him out. the guy below reverses and pulls out a knife and starts stabbing at 7:10 (good job btw). imagine that happening in real life. still, good job to everyone.
@ytokijkla No sense in responding. Keep your "dog" ways and I hope it works out for you in a real life situation. Id love to see the end result of the dog method of "swinging for the fences" and grappling while holding a stick or knife. Escrima/Arnis/Kali is a passive/defensive art. Im filipino and my family has deep seeded roots in filipino martial arts from numerous regions. Your "Gatherings" are an offensive display of our culture. Its easy to be a tough guy with pads and head gear.
@joepuno Thank you, I wasn't going to reply to an "obvious" ignorant person. Saying that "your family has deep seeded roots in filipino martials arts" does not make them experts. It's like saying my mom is a chef...doesn't quite make it genetic to be a good cook. And saying that Stick fighting is a "Cultural" issue is like saying Muay Thai is cultural to Thais...His 28 years of life experience requires many more years of experience before chiming in here.
@nosaj03 If you went to a gathering and challenged someone to go at it without head gear and pads, it wouldn't surprise me if you found some takers! Pretty stupid thing to do IMO. First of all, you would be putting your life in grave danger and second, you would miss the essence of what a DB's gathering is all about. Sound like you have to much foolish pride! dog tom
Flipping awesome. Although I have only been able train locally I hope to make a gathering asap. Dog Brothers videos have not only enlightened me mentally but have taken my martial arts training to a whole new level. I love breaking it out on unsuspecting training partners.....Thanks
In 1990, I thought Dog Brothers was cool, but crazy! I was 22 then and Dog Brothers was in the infant stages. Now I'm 43 and being given a Dog Brother name. Shows you that when I was young and cocky, I was not willing to be humbled and desired to stay in my false realm. Now I'm older...much older, and fully understand and embrace the learning experience and crucible. Real fighting is not pretty as in training, but with a good foundation, there's a glimps of it in combat. Woof!
I would absolutely love to train with the Dog brothers! Does anybody have an idea when they visit the UK or Europe?

A group of genuinely tough, dangerous, but honourable and respectful guys. Now thats a rare thing indeed, much respect gentlemen.

This is great entertainment but not practical and really a perversion of the true filipino martial arts.

You can't be fscking serious.
AKE evolved from sword-/machete-fighting. It can't get more active/aggressive than that.
> "Its easy to be a tough guy with pads and head gear."
*shakingheadindisbelief*
Imagine yourself walking up to the "dogs" restating your statement adding: "pads and head gear are for pussies. Who's up for barenuckle?"
You honestly believe there'd be a shortage of punters?
