Thanks for the review Craig - nicely done! I have the Canon HF G10 now and I'm looking at upgrading to the XF-100. But I want to make sure I make the best choice so I'm interested in your opinion on the Sony HXNRX70U which is in the same price range. Have you compared it with the Sony. Which do you like best - relative strengths & weaknesses? Any advice is appreciated.
The manual focus works pretty well but the auto focus is also very good. As far as the audio there is a limiter but I wouldn't count on it. Keep your gain around 5 and you should be just under 10db. I have used an Audio Technica 8015 and a Sennheiser wireless Mic and they both sound great. I will upload a video soon with some test footage of various scenes. Check out my channel for the Ipad 2 review shot with the Canon XF100 in 1280 by 720 HD. I also used the Sennheiser Wireless Mic.
