this movie was a remake of 1,2 and 3. cuz mrs. voorhees has a brief moment, then it goes into 2 and what I mean is that jason had the bag and then found the mask. If you pay attention to the deaths you can pin-point which movie they came from, like the hatchet to the back was like the wheelchair death in 2, the screw to the eye was in 3 so its all a complete throwback to the early movies.

Seriously, if by some miracle, Jared P's character here had managed to channel SAM WHINCHESTER in this movie, Jason would have cut down like a little zombie bitch! Considering the whole 'Supernatural' background, I think that would have been FAR more interesting.
There must be something in the water at camp crystal lake. Serioulsy, why are all the couselors SO horny? Most it it happens the first day too, serioulsy, I wouldn't want kids like that watching my kids, I'de be afraid they would just start randomly drilling one another at camp fire.

Really, the scene with the campfire and the bear trap was the most original. Everything else, he's just using the machete. He did use a bow and arrow as well as an axe and a fire poker. It just didn't wow me as far as originality is concerned. If they plan to do another one they need a new approach.

this was a full price for me. loved Derek Mears and thought that this had better acting than a lot of the originals. one of the few remakes that is as good as the source material (right along with TCM).

Friday the 13th is getting boring..crystal lake, sex, drink, drugs, kill, - almost all franchise has the same story, and can't the president of the united states shut down crystal lake forever like blowing it up and why are those people kept on going to that lake knowing several murders happened. Halloween is much better.
I liked it allot better then My Bloody Valentine, I watched both because of supernatural. Also, I never watched the other Friday the 3th's. Well I've seen some of em, but it was to long ago for me to remember.

@DayBreakization Just go to blockbuster and browse the asian horror films. There are a lot of good ones and they were all subtitled so I don't recall exact names. I remember one where this doctor had humans trained as dogs on leashes. It was the freakiest shit.
i dont understand why they have intense sequences of horror violence the first 20 minutes when everything after is just going to be a huge pile of let down... they should have cut to that group of teens partying near by the same night and jason just continuing the momentum, that would have been just as long but cut out the bull.
ugh the rest of the film kinda pissed me off, the Killer cut improves it but the theatrical version is just a downgrade of that .Atleast it was better then Elm street!
Also I can't really blame them for not doing anything really different. Change was a problem for this series. 5 was good in my opinion, but some fans didn't like it's idea and the movie didn't do as well in theatres. 9 and 10... no comment. Here they at least went back to the basics and made it feel like it fit in the series. My only complaints are that they were too over the top with the kids and that ending SUCKED. Overall Bay didn't wreck this as much as other franchises at least. Low Matinee
The first time I saw it I thought they did a great job and I really disagreed with spill's review, but yeah it isn't the best. Friday the 13th was always a bit more straight to the point than Halloween or Nightmare on Elm St. so on that they did alright. Plus Mears made a pretty good Jason to me. But as Carlyle said it really isn't as good after the title comes up. However it was MUCH better than House of Wax, 2001 Maniacs, and Nightmare on Elm St (remakes I mean). Those were just awful.
Holy cow! The last 40 seconds when you mentioned the crops I remembered that aspect of the movie suddenly, I believe his first kill was when one of the campers was right in the middle of a weed field, and in some instances something like that just may happen in real life. Funny stuff lol.

Jason making an MRE out of a girl in a sleeping bag is very original. Glad they didn't just have him pick her up and wack her a gainst a tree. Thats been done. That campfire kill was just about the only original thing. Most of the other times he just used the machette or an axe or a screwdriver and whatever else. He wasn't a resourceful as he could have been. I was told that in one of the sequels, he penetrated sauna stones into a guy. That takes some thought. I've only seen 1,2,3,11 @ 12
I liked this movie, but I really think they showed too much of Jason. He was too much in plain sight. The scene where Clay and Jenna see him carrying a body to the campsite. The point is supposed to be that he is like Predator. You never are really going to see him until you turn around and watching a machete or some other weapon swinging towards your face. The original was pretty well discrete about revealing the killer. It was a seriously creepy movie. Creative kills for 09'... contud.

I am so fucking tired of these Jason movies. There is no fucking excitement at all in these series. It's basically an asshole who never says anything. Comes back from the dead for the 15th fucking time. Kills some kids who can't harm him cuz he's already dead. Then he dies out of some fucking miracle. But in the next one returns. It is so predictable it is laughable.
I thought this movie was average. i really liked derek mears as jason, but the plot/story line was really weak. The 1st part of the movie was good. The kids seemed like typical F13 kids, they gave jason a nice re-introduction, and the setting was in the woods. The second part of the movie was really watered down and the characters were really annoying. plus that cabin/mansion looked like a hollywood set. didn't have that old-school F13 creepy feel to it.
I have to say this movie I guess because I saw it on the big screen right in the front to where I was like almost laying back watchin it but it really made me jump it kinda scared me I have to say the first ones didn't make me jump as much as this one but it didn't really progress the story or make it better but I enjoyed it for it was.
@cjg1029 I agree, it's in all fairness, not that frightening, and this is coming from someone who can't stomach horror movies easily. There was only one point in the movie which made me jump........ the ending! Don't worry. No spoilers here.
Its the same formula as the first few friday films, but it just doesn't delivere any cool kills or suspense. Its overall a very mediocre film. Plus i dont understand how its a remake if its not the story of the original friday the 13th.

This movie sucked. Almost all the kills were very predictable, the story elements were ridiculous, and everybody except for the main character (same as Jason X) is a moron. I don't care what anybody else says. Jason X kicked ass! The only problem I had with THAT movie was that almost everyone was an idiot. This movie had all THREE bad elements.
Please it was good... Kept the fun, kept the story, made him fast, and added a whole bunch of good kills... It was what it was supposed to be and i applaud that

Change was a problem for this series. 5 was good in my opinion, but some fans didn't like it's idea and the movie didn't do as well in theatres. 9 and 10... no comment. Here they at least went back to the basics and made it feel like it fit in the series. My only complaints are that they were too over the top with the kids and that ending SUCKED. Overall Bay didn't wreck this as much as other franchises at least. Low Matinee

The first time I saw it I thought they did a great job and I really disagreed with spill's review, but yeah it isn't the best. Friday the 13th was always a bit more straight to the point than Halloween or Nightmare on Elm St. so on that they did alright. Plus Mears made a pretty good Jason to me. But as Carlyle said it really isn't as good after the title comes up. However it was MUCH better than House of Wax, 2001 Maniacs, and Nightmare on Elm St (remakes I mean). Those were just awful.

Holy cow! The last 40 seconds when you mentioned the crops I remembered that aspect of the movie suddenly, I believe his first kill was when one of the campers was right in the middle of a weed field, and in some instances something like that just may happen in real life. Funny stuff lol.

Jason making an MRE out of a girl in a sleeping bag is very original. Glad they didn't just have him pick her up and wack her a gainst a tree. Thats been done. That campfire kill was just about the only original thing. Most of the other times he just used the machette or an axe or a screwdriver and whatever else. He wasn't a resourceful as he could have been. I was told that in one of the sequels, he penetrated sauna stones into a guy. That takes some thought. I've only seen 1,2,3,11 @ 12

I liked this movie, but I really think they showed too much of Jason. He was too much in plain sight. The scene where Clay and Jenna see him carrying a body to the campsite. The point is supposed to be that he is like Predator. You never are really going to see him until you turn around and watching a machete or some other weapon swinging towards your face. The original was pretty well discrete about revealing the killer. It was a seriously creepy movie. Creative kills for 09'... contud.

i thought this new one was as good as any of the older ones...its not the best on the series...but i wouldnt call it bad...i like jason in this one...he is running, setting up traps and whatnot...he is using bow and arrow...plus he has his own liar and there are tunnels tht he use to pop up in different parts of crystal lake...

I am so fucking tired of these Jason movies. There is no fucking excitement at all in these series. It's basically an asshole who never says anything. Comes back from the dead for the 15th fucking time. Kills some kids who can't harm him cuz he's already dead. Then he dies out of some fucking miracle. But in the next one returns. It is so predictable it is laughable.

I thought this movie was average. i really liked derek mears as jason, but the plot/story line was really weak. The 1st part of the movie was good. The kids seemed like typical F13 kids, they gave jason a nice re-introduction, and the setting was in the woods. The second part of the movie was really watered down and the characters were really annoying. plus that cabin/mansion looked like a hollywood set. didn't have that old-school F13 creepy feel to it.

Its the same formula as the first few friday films, but it just doesn't delivere any cool kills or suspense. Its overall a very mediocre film. Plus i dont understand how its a remake if its not the story of the original friday the 13th.
