  • I've been in that room!!!

  • a pleasure to hear him in a variety of settings. tremendous talent.

  • like the ride

  • 1:12 best

  • Haha I played That kit he is on when I was there last lol

  • my mind has just been blown.

  • Talk about speed!

  • dude is FAST

  • 1: 15 = drum rape

  • i'll bet he's never taken a lesson...

  • @MrSoundman028 He's studied with Legends....starting with his dad who has toured with R&B superstars back in the day. I mean hell he called Will Kennedy of the yellow jackets his Uncle.

Also check out his younger brother Steven Bruner....AKA Thundercat.....Sick bassist!

  • @MrSoundman028 Actually bruner's dad (Bruner Sr.) is a pro touring drummer he called Will Kennedy of the Yellow Jackets his "Uncle" and Marvin "Smitty" Smith was his childhood hero as well. He's just been around so much music that life was his music lesson. :D

  • @MrSoundman028 He has though. His Dad is a professional drummer as well and he considers Will Kennedy from the Yellowjackets his uncle lol.

  • how do u get this good?? smh lol

  • how in the hell does he move his hands and feet so fast

  • how many feet does he freakin have!?

  • @drum6banger It's all single pedal.......

  • @drum6banger One foot on the kick pedal the other on the hi-hat :)

  • now THIS is some good drumming! amazing!

  • frustrating how these people play so fast! lol! Practise is under-rated! Amen!

  • The UK needs a Memphisdrumshop.

Theres nothing as big here is there? or am I just way out the loop?

  • All the Memphis drum shop vids are sick! The speed on this video is just as unique as brushes. I know a ton of people hate on just "fast" players but I believe that music in general shouldnt have any rules. Just cause we talk with slang or an accent doesnt mean we cant communicate. Keep being you and keep posting videos like this one MDS

  • its cool

    its fast

but imho there is no natural flow to this. It sounds aqward and random

  • a true drummer !

  • Who is faster on the kit? Tony Royster Jr. orrrr Ronald Bruner Jr.? So hard to tell.

  • @Danielcrspo They're both equally fast drummers....but Tony is a bit cleaner (Like Dennis) and Ron tends to risk it (Like Billy Cobham)

  • @Danielcrspo Dennis Chambers haha

  • whay is the other drummer even playing?

  • @tldozen Because Ron wanted to jam with someone....Believe me he stopped when Ron started to blaze at 2:06

He even waved "Hi mom I'm being destroyed by one of my favorite drummers!" lol

  • How in the world is he so fast!!!???

  • @Danielcrspo

    1. Having a dad thats a touring drummer

    2. He was mentored by Will Kennedy,Dennis Chambers and others.

    3. Constant practicing with a click track. :)

  • up and coming??? i think he came already.

  • @robdown LMAO!!!! I was just about to say the same thang and then I looked and I saw you already said it ....

  • what ride is that?

  • @tatoleon

    some constantanopple ride i guess

  • It don't make no since to be that good....dang.He make you not wanta play drums any more...lol

  • He makes the guy next to him look like a fricken piece of toast...

  • @Dakotaspani LMAO

  • I love how the other guy just stops when ron starts goin crazy lol

  • what highhats are those

  • that other dude needs to stop playing so we can hear the REAL beast!

  • I'm surprised that his kit didn't burst into flames... Phenomenal talent!

    Great channel, too!

  • so tight :)

  • He plays like John Blackwell

  • @dtktjtx2 John Blackwell would humbly disagree :)

When I chatted with him on facebook He calls cats like Ronald "The Big Guns" lol....

  • dude he is rocking a iron maiden shirt...i love him lol

  • this man is not even human

  • that kit is tuned low for a pearl reference series kit

  • was 2:20-2:24 sped up?

  • @Grasshoppa065 Nope he's naturally that fast...believe me I've seen him live....

  • @Grasshoppa065 no real speed....Seen him play live with Stanley Clarke

  • wow bruner is unearthly fast !!!

  • 0:34 ........dude how do people do that!?!?!?!

  • That guy isn't up an coming. He's already there!

  • He should be featured in discovery's Time Warp

  • Haha, 1:12! =D

  • what size rack toms are those?

  • man. I so wanna come visit your shop. sucks that I live waaay up here in BC Canada. Aint nothing like your shop here, not even in Vancouver.

  • im not sayign that is speedy up but every video of ronalds seems to be

  • from 2:05 on it gets really good...

  • God... Can I just have all those cymbals in the back? Please?

  • its got a sweet groove up til about 0:54, then it just transforms to face-melting mind-blowing amazing

  • It's Dennis Chambers in his prime.

  • @spacitydrummer4JC dennis chambers is an amazing drummer. but i don't think even dennis in his prime cld mess with ronald bruner as far as technicality. the thing people don't get about ron is that its not so much the complexity of the stuff he does but its the speed he does it at that makes him stand out

  • Yeah, exactly. His speed just made me think of Dennis.

  • this is the awesome dude that played with chaka khan , george duke and mike manson on the northseajazz version of take the a train :D

  • WTF !

  • @zildjiandrum1 thats exactly what i said, like 50 times...

  • Ooh i enjoy Ronald´s playing alot. I remeber seeing him in my city (Mexico city) with the Stanley Clarke band, they were like only 40 people on the show jajaja but it was a great show.

  • if thats his bro hes annoying....but dang theres like 2:25 of stuff he does that i cant do yet....grrrr

  • Haha this guy is nuts!!

  • this is in fast forward

  • @zerussomaniac right...

  • @thisstinks92 clearly

  • what type of snare is the other drummer using?

  • @wyndell84 A Pearl Marc Quinones Signature Q-Popper 12x5 Timbale Snare

  • @memphisdrumshop Is the Q-popper good for kit playing? or just for percussion purposes, because I love that sound! it's the sound I've been looking for!

  • Is the other drummer in the shot so we know your not in fast forward? haha that is crazy.

  • AHAH HELL YEAH

  • oh my god

  • que diosssssss es un diosssssssssss

  • He and his brother are rhythm section BEAST!!!

  • awesome toms sound!

  • Jazz solo ftw!

  • Got sum fast hands!! He promo vids r sweet 2 yall should ckeck em out!

  • beastness...what brand drumset is that btw?i like the sound

  • Pearl Reference Series

  • hahah with a leather jacket ahahahaha

  • awesomeness

  • nice sounding ride

  • Awesome drumming men!! Greetings from México

  • Da truth !!

  • And this he plays with his fat jacket on!!!??? :)

Imagine what he'll do without his jacket on.... :)

  • just like the camera adds ten pounds it makes people seem a little bit faster. not to say this guy is LIGHTNING quick cuz he is. but there are things that I hear back on recordings and im like dang I didn't think I was playing that fast. lol

  • 1:12 hello

  • it looks like they sped the vid up.

  • @NICKxSUTTON Nope not at all Ron IS that fast.I don't think a internationally known drum shop would speed up a drum video......Plus his drums don't change pitch when Ron does those really fast licks he's just very precise. People thought the same thing when people saw Dennis Chambers or Billy Cobham play but that is all natural speed

  • people who need to ask if this is sped up need to improve their drumming vocabulary

  • hah amen to that. or they need to watch other RB Jr vids.

  • dis be sleepho

  • so true

  • @NICKxSUTTON i saw dude live. look @ more vids cuz in every single 1 he goes the same speed if not faster.

  • This cat is way faster than I thought.

  • Is he wearing a iron maiden shirt?

  • hey can someone tell me what kidn of heads is rondald playng? thanks if someone could reply

  • all right ! you win !

  • yo he has speed juss like tonyroyster u cant get anyfast than that or u will break ur hand trust me

  • @drummagn3t14 yea theyre kinda on the same page, but i just like tony more cuz his grooves and fills are cleaner. this cat doesnt hit rims tho lol hes sick too.

  • @drummagn3t14 have you heard of their influences......Billy Cobham or Dennis Chambers?

Those two guys are the reason why R.B. and T.R. are so fast and controlled.....

  • Is the best !!!

  • lol at 1:15 XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • look @ his foot @ 0:33...enough said

  • 2:00 -2:20 wow

  • I think Bruner's about to break the sound barrier.

  • no grooove

  • @drumjunkie99 What are you talking about? LOL......No groove.....he's playing a groove at :23

  • I'm gonna go ahead and say anyone Stanley Clarke calls up to play drums can groove.

  • I agree with funkbeastbasslover.......YOU HAVE to have a serious sense of feel and groove to play with Stanley or any legendary bass player.....Ronald might be busy but Stanley digs that Ron can be busy and groove....

  • 1:11 I'm outta here =D

  • why does his bassdrum sound like a cowbell?

  • The guy playing just the snare and the hats has a bass drum connected to a cow bell post, so his sorta bass drum is a cow bell, hope this helped :P

  • why would you do that? lol

  • It's built like that......

  • whenever I let out a subtle laugh during the drumming, I know that I love it. This guy got 3 laughs.

  • Ronald is insane. I understand all the hate for the "gospel style" drummers, but I hear nothing but beautiful music when I hear him play. Amazing player, I can't wait to see where he goes.

  • @ctdjazz listen homey, i've been saying the same things. and on top of that he's an incredible str8 ahead player. the cat can prettymuch go where ever he wants musicly. i can't wait till he really hits his stride(he's still young and cought up in the newness of being "that dude")

  • that needs to calm down, its not about playing as a fast as possible all the time

  • Dude......he's a pro.....He frikkin plays for Geroge Duke,Stanley Clarke and other Pros...plus he wasn't playing for a gig....when he's at a gig his playing is very chill....

  • i dont deny that he is an has loads of talent but he still has to grow up a lot, ive seen him live and he does play great but he still overplays a lot

  • Have you seen him play with George Duke and Chaka Khan covering "Take the A Train"?

He doesn't go crazy until he gets a small solo.....So he knows when he gets to overplay or not

  • @paisteguy799 look man they hire him for that. do you thing all those people would let him play like that if they did'nt want him to? thats how they hear the music being played. in a modern drummer interview stanley stated that he like that ron was "out of control".

  • @paisteguy799 dennis told a story about him playing with john mclaughlin and how he was play what he thought was tasteful and what he thought was appropriate and john literaly stopped the show, pulled dennis back stage and asked him why he was playing like a "wally". dennis' reply was that he was playing what he thought was appropriate. john's reply was"thats not i hire you for". if you personally think its overplaying cool but thats not how the artists hiring ron see's it so essentially ......

  • @paisteguy799 ..............it went over your head unfortunately.

  • @paisteguy799 so you know more than george and chaka and stanley and marcus and kenny garrett , huh? you need to go sit down somewhere with the hating. you aint being hired by nobody so i'm sorry to say but your words mean ish.

  • dammmnnnn.....

  • haha i love the other guy at 1:04 he's just like man what am i doing here and just gives up

  • what ride cymbal is that?

  • Zildjian 22" K Dark Medium Ride Cymbal.

  • he's 2 good lol. hey check out jason carroll's drum solo

  • that other dude needs to quit playing and let the man drop some jaws

  • oh my god im grinning ear to ear.

reminds me of the dude from the mahavishnu orchestra. im so jelous of that talent

  • Wow, up until this moment I was convinced that Tony Royster Jr and Thomas Pridgen were the young guys who would carry the Dennis Chambers/Billy Cobham torch. I've heard of this guy but I hadn't heard till right now and I think he blows Pridgen and Royster out of the water

  • What about Chris Coleman?

  • he's awesome too. I guess I shouldn't get into the "this guy is better than that guy thing", I'll just say they're all awesome. But bruner is the only guy I've gotten the same kind of chill from watching as I got from Cobham and Chambers first time I saw them

  • The little kid is trying to play together and make some music. Ronald just goes wild :)

  • hahahaha, I've probably posted a comment before on this vid but I keep watching it and it still makes me do back flips. fn amazing!

  • his flippin hands are crazy fast....all of his singles are clean and tasty!! he's a beast!

  • That was immense! He really let rip...:)

  • that popper snare the guy is playing on the left ( most left drum) is fab.. I have one.!!

  • were did u get that pooper snare from and what type is it

  • pearl. Nottingham UK.. They are a cross between a timbale, with snare off, and a snare on. I use it wor that reggae drop beat, so I have a 'proper snare too.

  • Does anyone know what kind of ride cymbal he's using?

  • Zildjian 22" K Light Ride

  • i like how the one drummer drummer tried to find the beat of ronald and just gave up!

  • He knew where the beat was it's just Ron was doing so many awesome things.....he had to stop and watch.....lolz

  • Yeah, if you where next to that. It doesn't matter how good or fast you get you still stop and look.

  • That was passion unloaded- awesome

  • This is why we have to practice, so we can all just turn on that 'chops mode' and roll all over the kit!!!

  • cool cat. He tried to pick up one of my friends at the drum scene festival in Australia. What a character

  • yo man i met him there to i was working though i saw him backstage and spoke to him nicee guy

  • Who's that playing on the side of Ronald? Lenny White?

  • His name is Chris Bowns. He's a Memphis native.

  • Amazing pocket and chops, met him a while ago......supernice guy!

  • i WANNA KNOW WHY THIS DUDE HAS ON A LEATHER COAT WHEN IT'S 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE!!!!

  • i think its to go along with his leather LA cap lol

  • he's so cool that he doesn't feel the heat ;)

  • What pedal used there?

  • its not bout the pedal its the bout the technique and development of speed that come over time of repeating it..

  • It's also about feeling comfortable so you can be able to play. Maybe he wants a better pedal than what he has or something easier to use

  • insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • damn!

  • glad i went from travis barker to ronald bruner ahah

  • was this with dubble bass?

  • He is only using a single pedal!

  • yall set lil pat up man! lol you still good lil pat he just GREAT!!!!!
