@MrSoundman028 He's studied with Legends....starting with his dad who has toured with R&B superstars back in the day. I mean hell he called Will Kennedy of the yellow jackets his Uncle.
Also check out his younger brother Steven Bruner....AKA Thundercat.....Sick bassist!
@MrSoundman028 Actually bruner's dad (Bruner Sr.) is a pro touring drummer he called Will Kennedy of the Yellow Jackets his "Uncle" and Marvin "Smitty" Smith was his childhood hero as well. He's just been around so much music that life was his music lesson. :D
All the Memphis drum shop vids are sick! The speed on this video is just as unique as brushes. I know a ton of people hate on just "fast" players but I believe that music in general shouldnt have any rules. Just cause we talk with slang or an accent doesnt mean we cant communicate. Keep being you and keep posting videos like this one MDS
@spacitydrummer4JC dennis chambers is an amazing drummer. but i don't think even dennis in his prime cld mess with ronald bruner as far as technicality. the thing people don't get about ron is that its not so much the complexity of the stuff he does but its the speed he does it at that makes him stand out
Ooh i enjoy Ronald´s playing alot. I remeber seeing him in my city (Mexico city) with the Stanley Clarke band, they were like only 40 people on the show jajaja but it was a great show.
@memphisdrumshop Is the Q-popper good for kit playing? or just for percussion purposes, because I love that sound! it's the sound I've been looking for!
just like the camera adds ten pounds it makes people seem a little bit faster. not to say this guy is LIGHTNING quick cuz he is. but there are things that I hear back on recordings and im like dang I didn't think I was playing that fast. lol
@NICKxSUTTON Nope not at all Ron IS that fast.I don't think a internationally known drum shop would speed up a drum video......Plus his drums don't change pitch when Ron does those really fast licks he's just very precise. People thought the same thing when people saw Dennis Chambers or Billy Cobham play but that is all natural speed
@drummagn3t14 yea theyre kinda on the same page, but i just like tony more cuz his grooves and fills are cleaner. this cat doesnt hit rims tho lol hes sick too.
I agree with funkbeastbasslover.......YOU HAVE to have a serious sense of feel and groove to play with Stanley or any legendary bass player.....Ronald might be busy but Stanley digs that Ron can be busy and groove....

i dont deny that he is an has loads of talent but he still has to grow up a lot, ive seen him live and he does play great but he still overplays a lot
@paisteguy799 look man they hire him for that. do you thing all those people would let him play like that if they did'nt want him to? thats how they hear the music being played. in a modern drummer interview stanley stated that he like that ron was "out of control".
@paisteguy799 dennis told a story about him playing with john mclaughlin and how he was play what he thought was tasteful and what he thought was appropriate and john literaly stopped the show, pulled dennis back stage and asked him why he was playing like a "wally". dennis' reply was that he was playing what he thought was appropriate. john's reply was"thats not i hire you for". if you personally think its overplaying cool but thats not how the artists hiring ron see's it so essentially ......
@paisteguy799 so you know more than george and chaka and stanley and marcus and kenny garrett , huh? you need to go sit down somewhere with the hating. you aint being hired by nobody so i'm sorry to say but your words mean ish.
Wow, up until this moment I was convinced that Tony Royster Jr and Thomas Pridgen were the young guys who would carry the Dennis Chambers/Billy Cobham torch. I've heard of this guy but I hadn't heard till right now and I think he blows Pridgen and Royster out of the water
he's awesome too. I guess I shouldn't get into the "this guy is better than that guy thing", I'll just say they're all awesome. But bruner is the only guy I've gotten the same kind of chill from watching as I got from Cobham and Chambers first time I saw them
