@MyHeavyfuels, I believe so many of these really great performers are so unknown from poor promoters and poor managers. It is very sad that they didn't get the notoriety they deserved. Thanks to YouTube many of them are just now being discovered. Discovered by not only young folks but from us older folks that actually lived back when these entertainers were performing and still never heard of them.
Koko will live in my heart and mind for as long as this ole white boy lives on this earth, I love the blues, nothing that is out there now days can even come close to this wonderful music or this lady! RIP
Ordinary I think. Very few women can sing the blues really. That's not a sexist remark they just can't seem to do so by male standards. How can you compare Koko to Muddy Waters? Muddy is the Rolls-Royce, Koko is more like the Russian- made Lada. Sorry to have to say this, but there it is...
@paulkate72 You obviously don't know SHT about the blues. KoKo Taylor sings to your SOUL, and can hang with ANY man in blues, on ANY day. GROW a soul, THEN you can comment on a QUEEN. WTF is wrong with you.
@ThgStallion - Thanks for your comments even if they were peppered with obscenities. Look, I don't mind if you disagree with what I said about Koko, but please do it objectively and dispassionately. And we all have an opinion even if it's different to yours. Maybe I was a little harsh in what I said about Koko but that's all I have to say. Cheers!
Hey wait a minute; don't go around dissing a music legend like Miachel Jackson! He was a great great artist; so until you can top him, please keep your mouth shut! Now to my comment; I love koko; she's a very soul-ful vocalist; great song. I love the blues. Love you koko, And for the M.J. hater; I LOVE YOU M.J. R.I.P.
I have listened to 3 versions and this lady wins out of them all. I have never heard anything else by her, but she is dynamite!! I love her sound. she gives it her all. phyllis..
What a tremendous talent and a great beautiful hard drivin blues voice. Can't get enough of it. Rest In Peace Koko. You are Number One in our hearts. Miss ya.
IS amazing and sad :( Only 3 coments here... and or that freak Michael Jackson are thousands ! I guess the true artists are dieing quiet and alone and few ppl are going in heaven and many in hell ! I`m sure Koko got her wings already and plays the blues in heaven like she always did on earth ! DIVINE ! R.I.P. Koko and thank you for the great music you left behind ... I will keep listen your music till the day i`ll die too.... If i`m lucky i hope i will meet you again ...Peace !
@MrHeavyfuels Well Michael sang pop, and it is more popular than blues. I liked some of Michael's music, but I think the media went overboard with his death.
@MrHeavyfuels Michael Jackson is no freak and is an artist at the top of tops. Even if his last albums weren't the best of Art, he is a true artist, just like Koko Taylor and many other known and lesser knowns. there is plenty of bullshit to pick on for real.
You are absolutely correct classayladay. I saw Coco many times through the years playing at local summer fest and there were not many like her. R.I.P Coco. One more great musician added to the big band in the sky

I got to meet her in June, 2005, at Kingston Mines in Chicago. She sang "Ernestine", and I got to dance with her. My God, what a night.
