You didn't answer her question... You tack on opposite corners because the metal in the HAZ is expanded, and when that metal cools, it will contract and cause tension and tend to pull. That way you control (and reduce) how the metal will be pulled back.
@ixfxi I get worse than that just walking outside in the summer here!!
Great safety tip though. You should always wear your leathers or at the very least long sleeves. Cover up guys and gals, this stuff burns when you least expects it to.
You used to lift weights?

@AugendesAbgrunds Still try to 3 to 4 times a week. If I could just stop hurting myself in the process everything would be grand..

@TheNomorevideos Now that is a great question! I am sorry, I don't know the answer. I don't think so but I am not sure.

@TheNomorevideos Not that I'm aware of. This is just a good construction practice.

Nice video. Love the big clamp. Never even thought about the magnetic field of the magnet interfering with the weld, but it does make sense. Thanks!
VisorBlue 1 year ago
@VisorBlue it is amazing to watch the arc bend when you get to close to the magnet. Sure does make a mess of the weld too.

Thanks Kevin!
I wish I can weld like you my friend!!

I use those magnets all the time. They also make them where there is a switch on them so you can turn it off , to get the metal dust off of them.

@1970chevelle396 I have to get me some of those. I keep looking at them at the welding store but never get around to buying them.
kevincaron 1 year ago
@1970chevelle396 I bought them at Summit Racing. I think they were just under $ 20 a piece
