  • I always used to think he said "ohh WITCHES take me, take me over" instead of pictures lol.

  • @Skillz990 Thank you! I couldn't figure out what he was saying either.

    It definitely sounds like "witches".

  • Simon carefully looks left and right at every street corner for any oncoming Vauxhalls. Then the fence goes apeshit psychedelic.

  • I didn't know this was that old. (: It used to play on Teletoon in the early 2000s.

  • Oh wow,I haven't seen this since being a kid in the 80s. Wow,the shows that time forgot. Ah,what times those were in front of the tv.

  • I raped the REPLAY button

  • I used to love this cartoon!! "Well you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true".... What an awesome memory from childhood!!

  • I am a little surprise that some Hip-Hop or rap artist has not taken the melody and made a song of it. Or a Bieber cover...just saying...

  • @andmaketherain this song is for white race only

  • 1 person is stuck in the Land of Chalk Drawings.

  • They must have repeated this in the 90's as I was born in 1985 & have always remembered this theme song too. Kinda sticks doesn't it?!

  • Is Harold and the purple crayon based on this?

  • Used to see this on Captain Kangaroo in the 70's

  • Used to see this on Captain Kangaroo in the 70's only in the U.S. it was narrated by CK

  • I wonder if Dexter from Dexter's Lab is somewhat based on this character.

  • That song is so majestic and eerie at the same time - essentially England being defined In a few bars. And, Is that a woman or a kid singing?

  • until recently i had no memory of this cartoon and i honestly thought for about 30 odd years i had made this little tune up myself in my head. it would out of nowhere pop into my mind on some sort of loop, then bury itself for another few years.

its melancholy tones must have made a big impression on me as a child.

  • @tedmaulz Ain't that a trip? With me it's kind of similar, but I know it's NOT made up/in my head. There's a short/few second tune/video that's been in my head for 30+ years "It's a big blue world......after all....". I believe it was a segment of some kids show. It's NOT "Big Blue Marble" though. I remember only the tune, & clips of kids from different countries. It was made probably mid-70's I'd guess. I doubt I will ever solve the mystery. Anyway, isn't nostalgia great? :-)

  • dude, you're not the only one who has had this stuck in their head since '78. make it stop! please make it stop! lol

  • This was the highest quality video on you tube that I could find for this beloved show. Well done! Thank you for posting!

  • @tanjentsdotcom I found/downloaded about a dozen episodes from stagevu, if you're interested. (free)

  • Didn't Captain Kangaroo play this on his show?

  • i love that fireworks noise...

  • It's the Tootsie Pop Kid O.O

  • @Dasecks OMG I never noticed that!

    makes sense

  • My name is simon.

  • Till this very day, both the introduction and various episodes of this cartoon still ring in my head, just like the case with CHAPI CHAPO .

  • This intro used to creep out the crap out of me as a child....still do..

  • i loved this cartoon when i was little and still do.

  • :D

  • Wow. Chalkzone ripped this OFF

  • @germywad Imagine that!

  • This was before they dumbed down cartoons for kids. They don't give kids enough credit....

  • We named our newborn Simon in part because of my memories of this show!

  • Can I cry now?

  • 1 person drank their Hateraide today

  • love the mellotron intro

  • The theme song to this show is so memorable. Thanks for posting :)

  • Are you looking at my bum?

  • They started playing this show at like noon in the early nineties on my local station, i was hooked as a kid. But all I could remember for years was that the kids name was simon and he had world of chalk.total guess at the title, but somehow this feels really significant.

  • I can't remember it but my parents tell me that when I was less than a year old I heard that sound effect at the end and began to laugh, so they rewound the tape so I could hear it again. They filmed me laughing, but the tape buckled :(

  • hello my name is Simon... no really, it is

  • My how long has it been that I seen this last?I was 7 maybe 8.I loved that song.Cool vid.Good to see Simon again as a man in his Thirties.I love Youtube.

  • I miss those days,the late 70's early 80's....

  • This theme song has been stuck. in. my. head since 1978. ;)
