A British car show conducted a head on crash test at 80 mph between a Volvo 960 and a Renault Modus, a small car. The Modus crushed the front of the Volvo and boom! The Volvo's cockpit collapsed. DON'T BUY THE BULLSHIT, VOLVO HAS A VERY POWERFUL MARKETING DEPARTMENT.

@MilibandDavid Why so much resentment? Have you even ever owned a Volvo? The test you speak of was conducted by Fifth Gear and demonstrated how modern cars are built with more rigidity in a smaller package. There were no real safety laws (or at least none as serious as today) back when the 740 was originally designed. At the time, Volvo was the only car company to really harp on automotive safety. The 700 series (as well as the 200 and 900 series) were very safe and revolutionary in their day.

@MilibandDavid You act like the 740 is being sold today and marketed by Volvo as a very safe car. There is no bullshit in Volvo safety when hundreds (if not more) lives have been saved by a Volvo. And also, Volvo has a powerful marketing department? I don’t know about you but I see a lot more commercials advertising Mercedes Benz and Honda than I do Volvo.

And yes, as a guy here states correctly, Volvo was the inventor of 3 point seatbelts as well as side airbags as well as many other car safety technologies.. Volvo for ever !!

More marketing bullshit from Volvo, that roll over test proves nothing. The truck vs car test was good and the suv vs car too. But the speeds where low. Also you notice the head on crash between the two (shit) 740's was cut just before the cockpit collapsed. Volvo=total fucking bullshit.
