@freshaliciousx Hi! When learning by ear, I normally just listen to the song on my ipod and try to play along with the left hand to work out the chords. From there, you can work out what key it's in and then learn the right hand melody to it :) If you're struggling to work out chords, I'd recommend looking at the guitar chords for it (ultimate guitar is generally a good place to look) and go from there! Ultimately, the more you play, the easier it gets :) Thanks for listening!
@LoveConquersAllFears Hi, an easy way to play that part is to just play the high notes, so it goes: B G# A A G# E, B G# A A G#, A A G# F# E lowB E D#. That's 0:42 - 0:54
then 0:54-1:04 is the same, but playing C# instead of B at the start of the bar. Hope this helps!
during the whole fast part thing around a minute in that i mentioned before, can you describe at all in any detail exactly what you are doing there? I've been trying to mimic it but I can't seem to do it right. thanks
@Bernadev Well, in the right hand the part is played so there is an initial C# in the right with a C# chord in the left in the first beat. Then in the second there are two 'crushed notes' of C# and be before the G# which comes on the second beat with another C# chord. Then there is an E before the third beat which repeats the first two beats with C# C# E G# E in the right hand. That's the main rhythm throughout that section.
On the B B E G# E, I play it slightly different ... (character limit)
@Mattyd951 to the tutorial and play B B E G# E only once and then on the second time do a G# F# E B on the way down which might be what's throwing you :P
Sorry the explanation's not great, but it doesn't have to be identical, just play whatever you think suits it :)
at around 1:15 in while you are doing that cool thing with your right hand you switch it up a little bit instead of playing the usual C# C# E G# E and the B B E G# E thing, you play something slightly different, what is it? it's too fast to tell
@Bernadev Ah, for that part I play a D# D# E G# E in the same rhythm with a B F# B in the left hand - I'll add it to my tutorial, thanks for pointing it out! :)
@spinninginncircles Generally in the chorus, I play the chord together, but they're all octaves with the fifth note: e.g. C G highC. It doesn't really matter how you play them. Just do whatever you think sounds best! :)
Lovin' the piano! I did a cover of this by ear too, but I should've took more time to make it better I guess.. but wow this is great. It's nice to see people who can learn anything by ear :p
@musicalkid1303 I played it all by ear, so unfortunately I don't have any sheet music. I can write up the chords and basic note patterns on the description if that would help? :)
Awesome cover! I would love to play piano by ear, I always play & sing with sheet music. How did you learned that, by yourself? :) thanks!

I'm new to piano, and I'm having trouble keeping up with your right hand in the chorus. What is the right hand playing @ 0:42 - 0:54?
