After GM released the numbers for the new duramax, Ford retuned the 6.7 to give it 400hp and 800lbft, which is a free 15 minute software install for those that already bought the 2011 with the old tune. If YOU knew what you were talking about, this wouldn't be a surprise. And are you really going to argue displacement between a 6.6 and a 6.7?

@460EFI it was a typo...i meant 735..and yes..ford had to go tune the pcm to get more hp to keep up with GM...and they arent that much further ahead of the Duramax...i mean..fords motor does have 2 turbos haha...plus the ford weighs more...and is slower than the duramax...
@egak20 ill admit, the duramax pretty much whooped the new stroke in a head-to-head compairison done by diesel power mag. (ill also say that the duramax is a effin good motor, backed with a proven tranny, and its a shame they put it in such a POS truck.) and really two similarly equipped trucks (again makin reference to the head-to-head compairison) weigh within 400 lbs of eachother. the new 6.7 does NOT use two turbos like its 6.4 cousin, but rather a single turbo with mirrored impeller wheels.

i would love to buy one, but with the new emissions standards it will extremely hard to remove the dpf and the urea injection system. not that it cant be done, it will be that much harder to pass the emissions test EPA and CARB has for it.

I hope they're right about that "Ford Tough" slogan because every friend I know that has had a Ford 6.0 and 6.4 has had numerous issues with the exception of the 7.3. Whoever is looking to buy a truck should just play it safe and go with a Cummins or the Duramax...
Cummins and Duramax are good engines. only downsides are Dodge's transmissions, and GM's IFS/tie rod problems. Ford is pulling ahead with overall tough trucks. of course the 6.0 and 6.4 were the worst diesel engines ever released. but they nailed it with the 7.3 and that's what they based their new engine off of. i'm excited to see GM's and Dodge's response. because right now, Ford has it right.
yes, i'm seriously going to miss the 7.3, but the same team that made the 7.3 made the 6.7, so we'll see if it lives up to the 7.3 and expectations of the consumers.

@bobwatters They have a 4.4 deisel that was going into the F150 for 2011. It is currently in European spec Land Rovers. Ford was about to give it the green light, but they sent out a survey to F150 buyers and that survey said if they wanted a deisel, they would buy a SuperDuty. People can want, but if they dont actually buy the damn things Ford will just lose money so why do it? Its a risk that Ford and all the others have found not worth taking.

Ford, youve done it again! went from an awesome vehicle to a beast vehicle first it was the mustang then taurus and now the new super duty! seriously guys whats next a deisel f-150 or mustang maybe. you guys are my heroes. ford is the only true american car company now!!!!!

@badrubberpiggy25 ford did do it right. and the 2011 f150 was going to have a deisel, but a survey showed that most people that waned a deisel would just get an f250. but i know for sure the 2011 f150 will get ecoboosted

@EatmyDust1311 an ecoboost engine would be nice but i dont think it would do the same for a truck as it has done for the taurus (and its not said but basically the same concept, in the mustang) but i think the best results would be from a deisel engine: More power and better fuel economy.

@badrubberpiggy25 Write to Ford man, I cant help you. I am dead certain if more people requested a deisel F150 you would get one. They didnt plan to make a crew cab Raptor, but with less than 1 years demand they are already confimed for 2011. Just tell em what you want, and that you WILL buy it

@EatmyDust1311 thats true ford listens they are good about that a diesel f150 would be awsome but harder for them to do with the whole designing and engine thing but there was a concept for one a few years back

@bobwatters They have a 4.4 deisel that was going into the F150 for 2011. It is currently in European spec Land Rovers. Ford was about to give it the green light, but they sent out a survey to F150 buyers and that survey said if they wanted a deisel, they would buy a SuperDuty. People can want, but if they dont actually buy the damn things Ford will just lose money so why do it? Its a risk that Ford and all the others have found not worth taking.

@EatmyDust1311 yup u hit the nail on the head with that one as much as some of us would like to see it its about who would buy it thats why ford didnt need a bailout they know what they are doin. It would be nice but americans are not big on the diesel market they think they are only for big trucks unlike europe where they have plent of very clean burning small cars that run them and get amazing mpg's and power from them

@bobwatters eurodeisel is still too dirty for the epa. and the ford sd does have a urea tank. the ony new truck that does not is the ram, but that thing is sh!t so it doesnt really matter. and no deisel, "clean" or not, is as clean as gas

@orbitofdoom16 thank you! my dad's truck was one of the last 7.3 they put in the F250 and its lasted us well over 200,000 miles, coming on 11 years now and still everything is original except the steering box and the water pump. havent had a single problem since those two!
