Played this at my son's funeral... He was 20-years-old and was killed in a head-on collision with his girlfriend.. He loved this song. I miss him so much... And his boys have gone through hell not having him around..
I love and miss you, Brian... I'll see you soon,,,,
Thank you for posting this, even tho it makes me cry. My son Doug started getting into trouble at 17 too. Drugs. I sent him this song a few years back. About 8 years ago he turned his life around. Accepted Jesus as his Savior and hung around his family more. But in May of 2010 the damage of the drugs caused him to have a massive heart attack and pass away within hours. He was only 39. I was devastated of course but so thankful that God allowed us to have him for those 39 years!
@Judyp77 So sorry to hear of the loss of your son. The last 8 years of his life were probably the best he had, ever. Happy for him that he turned it around. Happy for you, that you got to witness and share in the positive changes in his life. Happy Holidays to you Judy.
@Judyp77 You're welcome, and I hope your holidays have been peaceful for you. I know sometimes it's hard to be reminded of your loss when others are celebrating. If you haven't seen the Ben Breedlove video here on youtube yet, check it out. Enter his name in the search box (this comment box doesn't allow URL's). If you watch his video, it may give you some insight about where your son Doug is now. Take care.
@StrangeFictionFanMag ....I did watch Ben's video but was disappointed that he never mentions Jesus. Someone on that site told me to watch another video that he says Ben is very open with his thoughts on God. I haven't watched it yet but will soon. It's just that as a Christian I believe you can only go to heaven one way. And that is by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. Obviously others don't agree. That's why God gave us all free will, huh?
@Judyp77 Free will, but it's a double-edged sword. There's a lot of leeway depending on where you get your religious instruction. What was so insightful about Ben's video was that anyone, regardless of belief, could feel moved by his experience. There are many questions and few concrete answers about the afterlife; we mostly do not know what will happen until we get "there". He was comforted by his sneak preview. I'm glad he had a chance to share with the world. Happy New Year.
I remember a Muslim Pakistani guy I worked with coming with my co-workers and I to sing Karaoke. He liked this song even though he wasn't Christian and it was funny to watch him sing this and other "American Cowboy Songs". His fundamnentalist brother kept on telling him Allah would damn him to hell if he kept singing those Satanic songs. Lol
Great song, I use to listen to this band in Hixon Tennessee at Terry Blivens place. I always wonder how they didn't make it big. Then one day they did. Great bands never die, they just get better with age. Just like wine. Thanks for sharing this video.
Boy does this song relate to me. I've done alot of things infront of my parents, and TOO my parents that I'm ashamed of now. But they have always loved me even when the devil took control of me.
thank you for posting thissong. have been looking for it for a long time. it is a great song. have seen the others but the original is what i wanted to hear.
@toughheath You're welcome! I had added it but forgot to make it public, so it sat there for a while without any play. So it was marinating long enough, should be perfect by now :)
This is one of my favorite songs by a band which is underappreciated! Thanks for posting and should you have other Confederate Railroad songs to share love to listen to them.
