In 1971, Indira Gandhi should have merged Bangladesh into India. This would have firmly buried the two nation theroy. Bangladesh belong to India. It should be merged !

Given, any land first belong to the people that inhabitate that Land. Bangladesh should have been merged, with India. In the future though i am quite certain it will merge with India !

In my view Bangladesh has been independent for just 41 years. If Bangladesh is to progress it will choose secularism, with a liberal government, at this point it will resemble India. Bangladesh has always thru its history been a part of India. Also there are about 100 million Bengali speaker in India itself, and about 25 million muslim bengali speakers. Check the wikipedia India-Bangladesh relations. I believe Indira Gandhi was a fool, she should have merged Bangladesh.

Pakistan's still believe in the "Two Nation Theroy". That the Muslims and the Hindus belong to a different nation, India though refuses to believe in such. This is why India claims Kashmir, and why it has a legal claim over Bangladesh.
