@NathanCollie From what I understand turd immitations work well. Where I come from, carp are commonly referred to as "sewer bass". However, in all seriousness, I hear crawdad imitations and aquatic insect immitations like hellgramites will do the trick..
I live near merrymeeting bay in Maine and the one word that comes to mind when i hear carp is...yuck. Those nasty things u can catch with corn and they are always nosing around in the mud. Thank you i prefer to flyfish for smallmouths and the sea-run brookies that come up the river.
Carp are as hard to take on fly than the most warry trout. And once hooked they are pound for pound one of the best fighting fish in fresh water. Especially on light tackle. And once harvested, that is one less breeding invasive fish in our fisheries. And if you are feeling really spunky. The smaller fish actaully do make a great meal.
