I've owned about 45 bikes, mainly Japanese but the since 2004 I've only owned European bikes. Chalk it up to higher disposable income and a better european make support network in my new location. Yet, I find myself looking at the GSXR750 and 1000 and seeing current pricing and laughing to myself saying, you've never owned one and they seem cheaper, in price only than ever. I'm buying a new GSXR750 this spring. It's simply time to own what I feel is one of the best motorcycles ever built.
Well I hope you didn't buy that 2011 ZX10R because Kaws. as recalled all of them & will destroy them, so if you got they will be buying it back from you!!!!!
I'm still waiting for Suzuki to call me, so that they can have my opinion on the new GSXR1000. If they don't call soon, I will probably be buying the 2011 ZX10, and trading in my 2008 Hayabusa. I've got to stay #1, and its tough being on top. But, I am the Top Hairy Butt on a sportbike. I've got to live up to my reputation. Practice makes perfect. I know Suzuki does NOT offer traction control, and that's unfortunate. I like Suzuki too, but thats the way it is. Look for me on the racetrack!
~I currently own and drive a 2008 Blue and White GSX-R1000 Bike that is still in mint condition(because I'm always cleaning it and I take good care of it).I recommend you buy a Suzuki GSXR K9 but it's your decision. If your a beginner at riding motorcycle's,I recommend buying a starter bike like a GSX-R600 or 750.A 1000 is for experienced veteran motorcycle drivers only. But like I said, you choose whatever bike you think is right for you. It's your decision.
@Newtamaki thanks for the information. but im still blurr that what you mean about riding 1000 is for experienced veteran motorcyce? is it too heavy or hard to handle?
For example, generally speaking,if your not holding on to the bike properly and if your not sitting on the seat properly, the bike will leave you in the dust. It's got incredible horse power. It's recommended for experienced drivers only.A Super Bike isn't like a 4-Wheeler dirt bike where you just turn the steering bars to the left or right and it goes whatever direction you turn it.With a Super Bike it's a little different.
~With a Super Bike, you have to use your body weight and when turning the steering bars, use your whole body weight to turn the bike left or right. It's difficult to explain but I'm sure you get the idea.Yes,a 1000 is a little bit bigger & heavier.
the sv is a cheaper bike thats still sporty the gsxr is way to go i have the k8 and its a beast with no probs so far and i have over 20 k miles on it. Suzuki is the way to go
It's a one off, I have had loads of Suzuki's - SV1000S, GSR600, GSXR750, and currently a GSXR1000K8 - Never had one problem mate. Suzuki are the best looking bike (apart from K9 standard pipes LOL) and they have more Kudos than the other Japanese bikes.
Can anybody help me I am fairly new to riding motorcycles and I am looking to buy a 2010 CBR 600, R6, or a GSXR 600. I am not getting a bike to race or do any kind of tricks on I am just looking for a nice easy to ride good looking bike to cruise on. I was leaning towards the 2006 GSXR 600 over tthe 2010 model just because I like the looks of 06 better . from what i read people say the R6's are better beginner bike. I am just wondering what I should get.
@cell511 If you are looking for the best city bike (not for racing I mean) take the 2010 CBR 600. It is the most confortable sport bike. The R6 and the GSXR are mostly made for racing, so they're not as confortable as the CBR. Also, you'll be much more able to do longer rides with the CBR. Hope this can be helpful to you.
@cell511 buy honda. i have suzuki sv650 with low miles and it has problems all the time. i am very disappointed. all hondas i have owned were very durable and easy to work on. just my 2 cents. peace.
@shagy2k5 Not a good idea mate. Buy a slower bike and learn to corner first. It's easier to then go on a faster bike. If you like sport bikes, get something like a CBR400 or ZX4R. If not a GSX650F may be the choice for you. A big bike may scare you too much at the beginning or even hurt you badly. Test ride as many bikes as you can first. A 400cc is plenty good at the beginning.Peace bro
beautiful machine, cant wait till the new 750 comes out, apparently the only thing that is from the previous model on the new 1000 is the fuel cap, everything else is all redesigned props gixxers
i have th k7 as well an i love it. the k9 is the only bike at the shop i havent ridden yet. i still think i would rather have a new k7 than the k9 but i wont know till i ride one!
@JOHNNYGIX same here I'm wondering whether my next bike will be a CBR. The exhaust is a lot sleeker too... I don't really care for a loud one, just a small one... getting rid of the fender looks like a bit of work on the CBR with the turn signals.
I'm afraid you're the one who doesn't know about bikes. The GSX1300R shares no substantial parts with the GSX-R1000, not in chassis or engine and are largely developed separately. The busa is a different category of bike, faster in a straight line, but less agile on a circuit. Both are awesome.
I think hayabusa is the fastest bike because it runs about 340 km/h and R1 and GSXR1000 are electronic limited to 300 km/h. But ordinary people cant use that speed anyway =)
HOLY ^$%# dude! i saw on Wikipedia MSRP is 13,000? my uncles friend who has been riding motorcycles since he was 15 and is now 40 somethin n couldnt keep the front end from popping. Harley's are good n all but...188 mph with restrictor? girl bike my &%*@...
I bought the gsxr 750 k8 orange/black as my first bike with the mode selector and thought i would just keep it in c mode but that plan went out the window. Now i would recomend starting with an old craiglist bike that if you accidently dropped it would not matter. You know work out some of your basic riding skills then go with this. but if you can afford to fix it then who cares twist the throttle and hold on.
There is something wrong with you if you get bored of a 600. There is no way you would ever ride it to it's FULL potential. There are pro riders who will still say they will never ride to the fullest. The bike will always have more to give especially on the road.
I want the opinion of an experienced rider... I am about to get my first bike, and some of my friends say i could handle the 1000 with enough discipline but others say i would kill myself. And I dont want to buy a 600 if im just going to be bored with it in 6 months. Any tips? Thanks.
I have the 2006 gsxr 1000.. but this 09 is bad azz!!!!!!!!! and for the 09 they are already put on the east coast.. but only some dealers.. i want the 09 or the 2010 so selling my 2006gsxr-1000 for 7g.. new off show room floor for 14.500 only 600miles on it..
Suzuki gsx-r 1000 beats all sportbikes, even the new R1 ,at least, I read a lot about this two bikes and in 5 different circuit test, the suzuki beats the yamaha for 2-3 seconds at lap. The suzuki owns the circuit, but I admit, the yamaha can give a little bit more emotions in an all day run on legal road. So SUZUKI FOR CIRCUITS AND HOT LAPS, YAMAHA FOR EMOTIONS ON LEGAL STREETS. That's not just my opinion, but the opinion of more and more bikers and expert reporter of sportbikes. Thnx
If you are a beginner I think you should buy a suzuki gsxr-600, the 1000 is just too powerful...But the enthusiasts and the feelings which the 1000 can give, are simply unbeliavble.
17-happy with my 09 250. probably gonna sell it. Ive been lookin at basically- the R6, gsx 600, or zx6r. all which are in the same class.... and all of them look great.
I have the 07 and they are a great bike!! handle well lots of power but i did get rid of the dual pipes and put a 4 into 1 system on it and it sounds great! And who cares which is better the GSXR or R1 they both have there pros and cons. Just be happy to be on a bike.!

GSXR is awesome.. I like the performance and strong..

I would have to agree and disagree. Gsxr-1000 is freaking awesome looking. but the hyabusa is so much faster but has less handling than the gsxr.

Thnx

that's not what i saw on MCN; check motorcyclenews and they picked the R1 both on and off the track but I still give props to the gsxr too!

uumm...
is this good for beginners?
how about enthusiasts?
kastutan 2 years ago

Man gixxers cheap as hell..Who would want to buy such a weak ass bike anyway??Its good to buy a gixxer if its your first time riding but once you get the hang of riding, might as well step up to a real bike..Gixxer is a bitch bike..You may be a bitch yourself..So its perfect for ya.
