Well the end of SnS S is a total cliffhanger... She reveals something that happened to Yuji at the very end after the credits, but it's good news because it definitely leads to the 3rd season. I heard it comes out this winter. :)

Well, the anime has followed the visual novels pretty closely, so if you know what the VNs are about, you know what'll happen in season 3. And the reason they're biding time before releasing season 3 is because the last shakugan no shana VN hasn't been released yet.
