Only in certain cases would you grab the barrel. And because the gun is not on your body, I would spin to the hand that is touching you. Take down into an armbar, then mount on them for the gun, it's just me.

Lol no good - basically teaching people to make a desperate grab for the gun and kick in the nuts. Better than dying, yes. Best method? Hell no.

As soon as you start to turn and move that arm, you are racing him on how fast he can twitch a finger :/

To the other comment @gitarrPwnz if others have been shot, that twitch would be instant, at least when he has you standing there he doesn't want you dead (yet) or you would be - wait for a better moment to fight back.

Sure it's a risky move, but what's the alternative? Do nothing and get shot anyway? As far as kicking the testicles, that is common in krav maga because it's effective.

i completely agree with you. A lot of self defense instructors tell their students to give up wutever the attacker wants, it's not worth ur life. The self defense part only comes in when you've given everything the attacker wants but the weapon is still pointed at you. I hope i'll never have that happen to me.

@ dxlowkey, probably not a bad idea. look, if the attacker wanted you dead, there's a great chance he would've put a bullet in you at a distance. he closes that distance because he wants something from you. DxLowKeY gives the attacker the money he wants, DxLowKeY maybe lives to fight another day. But maybe the money wasn't enough. That's where Mr. Waldman's (and others') Krav Maga instruction will keep you alive.

Any gun disarm especially when the gun is further away from u is really dangerous, if u feel u must try it to live u need to remeber sound concepts like get out of the field of fire, control the weapon and do not give up control. This is not bad, but anything from this position is risky.

dear kravcam i have a suggestion. the gun defenses are really good but i have one tip, do it with a loaded airsoft gun and ask the guy with the gun to shoot like he would do when his gun is pulled away, then we can see if your hit with the little balls from that airsoft gun, please guy thumb this up so they can see it

@ricvalley What you're hoping for is that if they're bigger they are slower, and that they aren't big enough that you can't reach the gun. What he doesn't explain is you also blade your body while pushing with your hand. Add a kick to the groin and it doesn't matter if your opponent is bigger than you, as long as he isn't so big that you can't reach.

i really doubt someone will hold a gun that close to you and in that position. If someone wanted you dead they would keep a small distance between you and the gun.

Well, notice the defender is twisting his body so that the assailant's arm ends up running parallel. This severely shortens the distance. So, reach isn't the problem if the assailant is taller than you. There's more likely going to be issues of leverage if they're taller. Unfortunately I don't know enough about Krav Maga or even gun disarming to judge what kind of leverage problems there might be, if any at all.

With the stricter laws and with longer sentences for repeat offenders any assault with a weapon for robbery or kidnap will more then likely end in death for the victim. I would rather die fighting then die going out like a pussy. Criminals are more and more just murdering the victim so as to eliminate a witness. So unless you carry a gun.. disarm techniques are valuable.. it could be the only think between life and death since not fighting back is more and more meaning death

yeh, that's kind off right because i use a paintball gun, and my mate will load it and try to fire it before i disarm him, and probably about 3/4 times i will do it. using different attacks each time

Surprise is a martial artist s only hope against a gun.Guns and firearms technologies are the ultimate martial art of killing. Hand to hand combat is obsolete compared to these. Note that the introduction of firearms in Japan ended the centuries old Samurai culture. The only thing we as martial artists can do when it comes to guns is learn to use them safely, as for learning gun disarms never try them in real life unless you're close enough and are ready to kill or die if you make a mistake.

This is a shitty position to be in. This is the first Krav defense that I've seen that addresses the gun being in the attacker's rear hand. It's not a great defense, but I don't think there is one for this position, short of talking your way into turning around...

Bad technique, I believe.. you never intentionally off balance yourself, especially trying to fend off a pissed off pistol-packer.. quick and fluid motion towards the gun, yes.. but do not LUNGE.. or you'll end up on your face, with a bullet in the back of your head.

the angle you remove the gun from his hand makes it near impossible to hold on watch closely at the twist and pull and it's supposed to hit fast so there isn't much time to react and fight for the gun.

I wouldn't say sure fire there was a GUY in my high school that would let people kick him in the balls for money. Yes it was a guy and yes people would kick him there their absolute hardest. I have only seen him go down from one kick. but i've also seen him eat them for lunch. thats why multiple attacks are best to different body parts. Oh and this was daily thing never saw anything like it ever again.

that said, of someone wants to shoot you, the won't come up to you and hold it against you. They will jsut fire at you and there's nothing you can do.

Here, the point is that you are defending against someone mugging you. If you consider your life less valuable than your ipod, i recommend you try this move.

Its meant for high risk situations, this particular one was designed for combat if someone is definitely going to kill you. Obviously if you were one the street and threatened for your money you'd just let them have it and be on you separate ways.
