You are right that Christians shouldn't lecture on subjective morality, as it is just that. I do believe Christians and atheists both hold good and bad subjective morality, as we are all human, believe it or not. If you blanket out whole issues to be discussed, you are just burying your head in the sand though.

I don't defend my morality, I simply explain where my basis for morals lies. I find that most theists hear that my concern lies with a sense of responisibility towards the other 6.5 billion people on this planet and that it is a personal responsibility of each of us to ensure that we contribute to the well-being of others, it tends to leave them.....well, gob-smacked. They really never have much of a response.
I've never understood why a future wiser you should keep a promise to a previous less informed you either.
The last time a theist accused me (without provocation) of having no morals, I asked him reasons to be good without god and he couldn't tell me a single one! He genuinely has no moral philosophies outside of "behave or get the eternal crap beaten out of you".

Haha, now after fully watching, I agree with everything accept one thing. I believe that any person who is being rediculed on their morality should defend themselves as it is an attack on a person deepest integrity. Even if the person attacking you is a hypocrite, it's never a good idea to just say "Fuck you" to them since they'll just use that against you and tarnish your reputation. It's a delicate matter, but I think it's something that is worth defending.

I just don't like putting them in the position of being a judge of how anyone else should acts. They don't deserve that position given their track record. Any charity that I support wasn't supported so I can boast about it. I did it because I thought it was worthwhile. I think most atheists do. Only theists brag about.
@emikochan13 I think when people donate anonymously it shows that they really care about the cause. They aren't looking for a thank you or to brag...they did it cause they felt it was right. But too many times I see comments from theists boasting about donations they have made as if we don't do the same thing.
@rationalwarrior I was just noting that it's not really a subject that theists and atheists differ on, I see atheists bragging about donating and theists bragging about it, and both donating anonymously. It seems to be a deeper issue than god belief...
Aronra's most recent video is a good explanation on why I give to charity, it shows that your money goes somewhere. I can only present what my morals are and I leave it to how I present myself to help a person determine if what I'm saying is true or not. If my morals are good morals, and I have a logical reason behind them, than that's all I need. I don't really mind putting them in a position to judge as long as they know it's going to come back on them.

I ignore the "starting point" stuff because I'm still me, the world still sucks and nothing has changed but the calendar. However I do want to make some changes in my life. Not because of the new year but because it's about time I started.

Haha, now after fully watching, I agree with everything accept one thing. I believe that any person who is being rediculed on their morality should defend themselves as it is an attack on a person deepest integrity. Even if the person attacking you is a hypocrite, it's never a good idea to just say "Fuck you" to them since they'll just use that against you and tarnish your reputation. It's a delicate matter, but I think it's something that is worth defending.

@elvebrothergenju I respect that. The problem is though...who do you do that online? Anyone can say they do anything online and it can't be verified. I just don't like putting them in the position of being a judge of how anyone else should acts. They don't deserve that position given their track record. Any charity that I support wasn't supported so I can boast about it. I did it because I thought it was worthwhile. I think most atheists do. Only theists brag about.

@emikochan13 I think when people donate anonymously it shows that they really care about the cause. They aren't looking for a thank you or to brag...they did it cause they felt it was right. But too many times I see comments from theists boasting about donations they have made as if we don't do the same thing.

@rationalwarrior I was just noting that it's not really a subject that theists and atheists differ on, I see atheists bragging about donating and theists bragging about it, and both donating anonymously. It seems to be a deeper issue than god belief...

Aronra's most recent video is a good explanation on why I give to charity, it shows that your money goes somewhere. I can only present what my morals are and I leave it to how I present myself to help a person determine if what I'm saying is true or not. If my morals are good morals, and I have a logical reason behind them, than that's all I need. I don't really mind putting them in a position to judge as long as they know it's going to come back on them.
