  • Thanks, I will.

  • I love it!! Any history lover's gotta love it!

  • Cool video! Keep them coming!

  • @angelloveshistory22 I actually did one about Lincoln's grandfather awhile back. Right now I'm reading a book about Daniel Boone, and it turns out he led Lincoln's grandfather through the wilderness to Kentucky.

  • As always,I enjoy watching these.

  • Too bad you didn't dress the anchor in toga...any thoughts about that?

  • Cool, what a original and creative idea to do this, keep up the good work, man !! Thankx for sharing !!

  • Hiya, lots of interesting subjects :) You don't realise how much Roman culture permeates our society today for instance the term 'jurisprudence' was still used when I got my degree in 1996 I remember a student being awarded this at the degree ceremony. Glassblowing a Roman technique and also a traditional trade for many years where I live not far from the Roman Wall. These Romans were a clever bunch! luv Mitsy x

  • Hi there...great video!! Can´t you also do a video about Atlantis? What do you know about the subject? I think it is a really intersting matter!

    Ciao!

    Ulf

  • @Caecarulf Actually I already did. I made one called 'Finding Atlantis' about a year and a half ago. National Geographic had a new special out last month with the same title -and we have very different ideas about it. Check it out here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=-cvT44vbkhA

and let me know what you think.

  • this is a very fun way to learn history ;-)

great video, i will check out your other stuff too.

  • another great video, congratulations friend :)

  • Another great video, congratulations friend :)!

  • Absolutely beautiful and interesting. Wow. Thumbs up

  • I just can't imaging living back then. Urine used for dry cleaning? Who would ever think. Fascinating. But someone has already said that.

  • @AustTubeYou With all our natural resources running out we may someday have to consider going back to some of these old ways. But I sure hope not.

  • @tokarski21 I agree but only to some agree. I think that with the way things run thats exactly what will happen, when it does, I think people may be more happy. I miss the old ways :(

  • @travelerman3 You are right. There are many useful 'old ways' of doing things that we'd be better off doing again. I remember getting mustard plasters when I was sick as a child, and as a parent didn't know how to prepare one for my children. And dried urine is supposed to make wool feel much softer.

Thanks for the message. Best regards.

    -.

  • When will we learn our lesson and get out of Germania?

  • @Ebuverthebicepcurler That's what she said.

  • @tokarski21 She knows her history, that's sexy in a woman.

  • Awesome as usual.

You look like a certain tv star. Though for the life of me I can't remember his name. I'm sure you've been told that before though.

    Keep the vids coming.

  • @Thayer79 Actually I haven't until now. Who could it be...?

  • @tokarski21 I can't remember. I almost want to say Mr. Ffeeney, but you don't look that fat and old, so it's not, but it's someone along those lines.

  • @Thayer79 I guess I was hoping for Johnny Depp, but at least it's not Mr. Furley from Three's Company.

  • @tokarski21 Lol. Nor Grandpa from The Princess Bride.

  • @tokarski21 Just for clarification. Mr. Feeney from Boy Meets World, but trust me not him either.

  • This is amazing. What a great idea. Keep them coming mate : )

How like Rome each succeeding empire is!

  • Great video, great upload friend.

  • This is great. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

  • Tarnation...!

  • Execellent as usual, theyre of such good quality its no wonder it took so long for another!

  • @BiffaTW And I'm a bit lazy sometimes.

  • I had forgotten how fabulous are your reports, which makes historical facts available to the "generally uninterested masses" of uncultivated people... Congratulations, my friend, and please keep up such a valid, excellent work!

    AVE!

  • @meadmaiden Thanks! Glad you liked it.

  • Thumbs up, always interesting and nice to see one of you new videos in my inbox.

  • @aerobroken Thanks - great hearing from you.

  • @tokarski21 Any plans to cover the early AD 30's? :?

  • @NodDisciple1 It's hard to say - I'd like to eventually cover everything. Is there an event or person you're thinking of?

  • @NodDisciple1 Well, the Early Christian Chruch, maybe the fall of Jerusalem and Masada.

  • you have really original videos... I don't have any word to describe it :) inovative, imaginative, correct and smart :) bravo

  • @CroPETROforever Coming from someone who obviously appreciates history as much as you do, I thank you.

  • @tokarski21 Really, this is so inovative and imaginative and in the same time accurate and informative on new way of teaching history... You could sell this idea to TV hehe :D really great... and bravo.. :)

  • @CroPETROforever Thanks Daniel. You know, I really would like to sell the idea and make it my life's work, but I've found that is not so easy. No one (besides wonderful viewers like you) seems interested, and I don't even have many views - but that hasn't discouraged me, and I truly enjoy doing it and will continue to do so. Take care, and I'm sure we will talk again.

  • @tokarski21 Don't let that discourage you, views will be higer with time, you will (I'm sure in this) get so called "big-bang" of views in your video when your videos gets known for their originality... don't worry... I know "nature" of youtube very well :) you too take care :)

  • excellent video

  • History doesnt seem to have changed much over the millenia ...

  • @CSIWEMBLEY They do say it repeats itself.

  • @tokarski21,

Absolutely brilliant, like nothing else on the internet. Also relevant is how fascinated I am by the Roman Empire.

You have created something close to "You Are There", on CBS decades ago, in which Walter Chronkite introduced historical events portrayed by actors. "You Are There" helped lead to my great interest in world history, differently offered by "Intrepid Berkeley Explorer" travel videos and stills, plus over 400 clips on YouTube.

Why modern dress and no toga?

  • @intrepberkexplorer I remember'You Are There' from my early TV days - thanks. I didn't dress in period clothes because in all my other 'History Headline' episodes each news item is from a different time, and I want people to relate it to today. Also, I don't have the wardrobe.

  • Can you do one on the Jesuit Gunpowder plot or, the Pope Nicholas V role in the African transatlantic slave trade?

  • @aethiops007 Thanks for the ideas. I will look into them.

  • THANKS !!!!!

  • @mrmakemakkara Most welcome.

  • Replace Rome with American

  • @tekfunk You could do that.

  • Another excellent video. Thanks for posting and sharing.

  • @PropagandaBuster My pleasure.

  • Want to see the world? Report to the nearest Legion recruiting station near you. Not a Roman Citizen? No problem, long service has the possibility of citizenship and advancement beyound your station.

  • Keep up the good work man ;)

  • @tantoi10man I'm trying. Thanks.

  • I just love these vid's - always glad to see a new one - they make history so easy to digest. As usual, tokarski, you've done a great job.

  • @gmaureen You are too kind. Thanks.

  • Any satire on the Jesuit Gun Power plot?

  • I really enjoy this channel!

  • @aethiops007 I'm glad - thanks!

  • This made my day logging on and finding a new video from you.

I enjoy your productions very much.

Thanks for the great information :)

  • @gvpcachnc I appreciate that. Thanks.

  • Great video!

  • @Susanoo58 Thanks!

  • @azzarbprime Thanks.

  • Yay new video!!!!!!!

  • @crazyloverofcats That's what I said when I finally finished it.

  • Well made and welcome back :D

  • @TheSleeplessArtist Thanks. Glad to be back.

  • hmmm very original and funny format. I wouldf maybe downplay some of the audio effects (not the music, more the swisches and swhoozes..) they kind of "fox-business-news" the viewing experience... apart from that minor minor detail, I enjoyed this video a lot. Thank you very much :)

  • @DiggingNorway Glad you liked it.

  • That was very enjoyable and informative.

  • @TiminPhoenix Thank you.

  • I was just thinking about your vids and thinking "I wonder if he'll ad some new ones soon" Its kinda weird but I'm still really happy you added a new one!

  • @Nightman221k I was wondering how long it was going to take me to get it done, too. Thanks for waiting.

  • Very enjoyable!

  • @smrne Thank you for watching.

  • Welcome back. I missed your videos.

  • @ThomasSheridanArts Thanks - great to hear from you.

  • That is no exaggeration about the importance of olive oil. In Greek mythology, several deities were contending for the naming rights to one of the great city-states, and offered the citizens various gifts in exchange. Posiedon, for instance, offered the horse. But, because she offered them the olive tree, the people named their city for Athena, thus Athens.

  • @leftysergeant I read that at times the punishment for cutting down an olive tree was death.

  • Nice video, but whats up with selling urin? What did they use it for?

  • @MonMccool123 Stale urine was used as a cleaning agent for clothing for many, many years by most cultures. Works something like vinegar. I assume the stink goes away after it dries. It was against the law to throw away your urine in some places. You had to leave it in a bucket by your front door for the "urine collector."

  • @ThePaintingClinic Thank you very much for the reply:)

  • Good work on the Roman edition.Let us not forget that this week in 1775 the American rebel Patrick Henry gave a moving speech in front of the House of Burgess at St. John's Chruch in Richmond,VA.In it, he spoke in favor of massing the militia to fight of the British, saying "Give me liberty or give me death".With the trouble in New England as of recent, this speech will influence the Sons of Liberty drasticlly.

  • @tenfed1861 Thanks.

  • Curious, have you heard of the book series history: fiction or science? If so what do you think about that?!

  • @meshyis I heard about it awhile back, but I don't know more than I've read about on-line. For me, something like the New Chronology helps validate what's already known, but I do like hearing other perspectives that go against the grain of current thought. Keeps you thinking.

  • @tokarski21 ..So that information doesn't bother you?! It doesn't confuse your perspective on the history you know about?

  • @meshyis Yeah, it can confuse me. Of course, in my case that's not too hard to do. I hear something different, look it up, read a little, think about it, and either make up my mind or try to find out more. I'm not a scientist or a historian, so I don't take it personal - but I do like to believe I've got it right before I put it out on youtube.

  • @tokarski21 ...Ok, I understand. Well, I'm looking forward to your next commentary. Hopefully it comes soon.

  • Always a good one, but I do miss the period jumping ):

  • @kattaylordesign Yeah, I wanted to change it up a bit - looking at the year 11 as we work our way through 2011. It actually took a lot of work, and I'll be back to the old format next edition. Thanks.
