I love how she spends most of the fight just standing there avoiding him, and then throws him down once and he's immediately out cold. I don't think that fall would knock out a 4-year-old, but it's cool 'cause she made him seem like a total faker with all his fancypants moves that went nowhere.
@landrykkb Oh you won't hear an argument out of me on that. Lynda is one of the most beautiful women on earth to me. i was actually replying in response to cublovers saying her butt was big. He or she obviously doesn't know what a big butt is. All you have to do is look at lady in some of these rapper's videos to see what a big butt looks like. Lynda was/is not close in that ball park. That's not how she's built which is fine. Doesn't take away one bit from her overall beauty.
Lynda Carter rocks! Just like in real life, just stay out of kicking distance and kickers look like imbeciles, usually winding up off balance and scared cuz they don't know if you're gonna be on them before they know it or not. Stay far enough away and they can't do squat without having to close the distance too. I like how she mimicked his kicks as if she was just toying with him and trying them out too. Her sidesteps and throws were awesome!
You have to remember this series was done THIRTY YEARS AGO.
Women action heroes were limited to WW, The Bionic Woman and (kinda) Charlie's Angels. The show plots and action were far, far slower than in any show today.
I remember watching this show when I was a kid thinking 'damn she's so fast and strong and cool' and now watching the episodes, wondering 'what the hell, they're soooo sloooooowwww...'
@sickphil71 No I never wore high heels, it's a show it was written in the script she would win. In the comics of the 1960's and 1970's Wonder Woman was nowhere near as powerful as superman. She took on such Characters as the paperman, giganta the gorilla girl, Egg Fu, the Angle, Dr. Psycho and the original Cheetah. They were nowhere near as powerful as Titano, the kryptonian dragon, Zhavam, or Brianiac that Superman fought.
@hydrolito That was my point. Although I was stating it sarcastically, WW in the comics would have been too powerful to even trouble with him. I do have an issue with how the fight was executed on TV. With the exception of Superman in the 1950s, TV versions of super heroes were generally substantially weaker than their comic counterparts, especially in the 70s and 80s.
@sickphil71 One of the differences between the comic book version of Wonder Woman and the TV version of Wonder Woman is that in the comic books Wonder Woman has natural powers that can be taken away when her bracelets are bound by a man, whereas on TV the source of Wonder Woman's Amazon powers is her magic belt when she's away from Paradise Island. Also, in the comic books, Wonder Woman goes berserk when her bracelets are removed, something that doesn't happen on the TV show.
If I was fighting her, I would go for the jujutsu boobie grab takedown, then enjoy the hell out of the ground wrestling ... In the end, I would win the wrestling with a PIN
Whats funny is that the guy is obviously an imitation of Bruce Lee......... a very bad one. Wonder Woman was fortunate she only fought an imitation and not the real thing............Cuz that fight would probably have been a little different!
Best part of this scene wa at 0:22 whe the guy lets loose a screem and charges her ...... and she just grabs him and throws him right through the crate. The look on his face when he climbed out was priceless. I was LMFAO.
If I were that guy I would have studied to have become a ninja master and concentrated on attacking her costume with lightning fast moves so that it would come apart at the seams.
That guy really needed to work on his speed and technique. I would have liked to have seen him knock her out with some ancient Chinese nerve hold and capture her.
The problem with this fight scene is that this guy is such a bad martial artist, and Wonder Woman is so powerful, that you know that Wonder Woman will defeat him. The only chance that this guy had of defeating Wonder Woman in a karate fight was if he had a friend sneak up behind Wonder Woman and remove her magic belt to make her powerless. But even a powerless Wonder Woman would probably defeat him anyway, that's how weak he is.
The writers really didn't use Wonder Woman's full powers, did they? She's nearly as strong and fast as Superman. That fight could have been so much better. But hey, it was the 1970s and for its time, it must have seemed incredible the way it was.
Thats actaully pretty funny - he comes at her screaming and kicking like a crazyman, and she just grabs him and throws him head first through a crate.
Wonder Woman vs. a Bruce Lee wannabe. The only chance that this bruce Lee wannabe had of defeating Wonder Woman in a karate fight is if he had a friend sneak up behind Wonder Woman and remove her magic belt to make her powerless. Actually, this guy was such a bad martial artist that even a weakend Wonder Woman probably would had beaten him.
He was only intent on getting his foe.She was strong enough and quick enough to defeat him.I don't know if she is as rock-hard as Superman, but I do know that when I take one look at that gorgeous babe,I become rock-hard in ******** and feel like getting close another way.
Oh and last thing... How can a guy in apparent good shape fall unconscious after having his ankle twisted and falling on the ground as gently as I get in bed at night? No wait! If she's as rock hard as Superman is, why does she even bother avoiding his kicks at all? How much was the scriptwriter paid for this? Did I choose the wrong job?
And just what was the karate boy doing there? Looking at the wood empty boxes? He just stands there like enemies were on the first NES fighting games, simply waiting to be beaten by the hero!
My god... It's a good competition for that Captain-Kirk-Versus-The-Lizard-Man scene... Could even be worse... When she actually tries to kick, good thing the camera stays up enough for us not to see much of it! To think people were once buying this (or simply saying "yeah, it's a good show!")...
I think it just "looks" that way due the "prehistoric" swimsuit she has on, can't have any part of her "cheeks" pokeying out. It was a kiddie show for crying out loud!! But yes it does look like she is wearing "depends".
@webmaste - He looked like a REAL idiot. I fell out of my chair laughing at 0:20 when he started yelling and screaming and kicking.. and she just grabbed him and threw him head first through the crate. Then, he climbs back out all pissed off looking to fight her and he looked like midget - she was much bigger and taller and just towered over him. Then he wiffs on more kick attempts, hurt his hand hitting her in the abs, before she KO's him on the pavement and talks trash while he's out cold.
Don't misunderstand me though. Lynda was and will always be a beautiful woman regardless. Same as Lindsay Wagner. She wasn't big up top like Lynda but it didn't take away from her beauty anymore than Lynda not having a gratuitous bottom.
This Guy wanted to kick the shit out of a nosy annoying woman and after he kicked himself nearly unconcious, he agreed to be tied up and tell ww the whereabouts of the stolen missle.
Of course, my question is always how the hell can she do the fight scene wearing those freakin heels? In most running scenes, her boots were flats. Just once I would like to see a blooper where she threw a kick and broke a boot heel and fall. Would've been funny.
That WAS actaully pretty damn funny - he comes at her screaming and kicking like a crazyman, and she just grabs him and throws him head first through a crate.
Similar humor to Indiana Jones just simply shooting the sword wielding Arab.
the scene in Indiana Jones, he was supposed to use his whip to fight the sword guy, he was hot and tired, so he just "shot" him, and they left it in, it became a classic! lol
That was funny - crazy karate man trying to take on a super amazon. He came out fighting but was cowering before she threw him like a rag doll. Then she talked shit after he was out cold. How funny.
this karate ninja guy is a little screwy in the head, but he's in disbelief when he puts in 100% effort plus to try to kick the shit out of a woman and loses. it is a little bit on the s & m side in that after all that effort, he's defeated he's going to be tied with that lasso and forced to tell her the whereabouts of Como's henchmen
There is the fight sequence from "The Mind Stealers From Outer Space" where she slugs it out with "Zardor". Then there is the fight sequence in "The Boy Who Knew Her Secret", she slugs it out with an Alien shapeshifter.
in the pilot episode she beats the crap out of Marsh (the spy) by punching her. in "the skateboard wiz" she punches a guy in the gut. it was less common for WW to punch, but she more often threw the bad guys and/or restrained them. it was her WONDEROUS technique!!! ;) actually, it was a departure from all the male super heros and villians that appeared on TV before her. they were making WW more original and keeping her lady-like charm intact.
Well, I have "heard" differently about why the "fight" sequences were less elaborate because supposedly "the TV censors" were cracking down on TV violence back then. So most of the fights became shoving matches.
In reality though, if you watch the first season vs the third, Lynda used a lot more kicking and punching techniques (karate inspired) in the third. First season was always the grab, shove and throw methods. Even Diana Prince used karate techniques against people that were trying to capture her.
Yeah, by the third season "they" did try to show that even without her powers "Diana" was still a fighter within. I guess that the production team figured "If she is an Amazon Warrior" she should put up a fight super powers or not.
