They've "stimulused" us to death, running millions of jobs and businesses big and small overseas and across the West. The ones they haven't killed outright. Actually if you look at a recent UCLA study you will see that researchers are now finding that Roosevelt's policies prolonged the Great Depression and it was the war and all of the industrial production that went along with the war that brought us out of it. The things I heard President Obama talk about would certainly create jobs, while helping the environment, lowering energy bills, and eventually help lower costs increasing what stays in the bank account, instead of going out the window. actualy a lot of blogs and media outlets are posting large parts of the bill. but many parts simply outraged me. as i mentioned before it establishes a system so that all medical records will be kept by the federal government so they can help regulate health care. it is none of their damn business what i see my doctor for. and if this was about creating jobs then you would see many more projefts for construction and research within the bill. there is some but it is an insultingly small amount.

The Iraq war isn't over and has not be paid for yet. So we don't know the cost. Some estimates are as high as 3 trillion when long term health care of our wounded are added in.

I read the stimulus and the part that pissed me off the most was the expansion of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
The tax credit is paid to businesses that hire:
-ex felons
-16-25 year olds who haven't worked or tried to educate themselves in the past 6 months
So if a law abiding HS graduate and a HS dropout drug dealer compete for the same job, our tax dollars will pay the business to hire the dropout criminal.
Bribing companies w/our taxes to hire criminals isn't a priority for me!

There are those that believe that soon there will be a new world order and Mexico will be joined with The United States, and Canada, forming the North American Union. I would hate to see this happen. I just can't imagine it. I do have an Aunt who is half American Indian and half Mexican born in San Antonio in 1925, and she is the most wonderful person I have ever known in my life. She is loving, kind, compassionate, and has always worked hard all her life, and volunteered too.
Her mother died when she was young, at the age of 11 her dad died, and went to work in a hospital as a nurses aide. She contracted TB there. After her hospitalization she continued to work to support her siblings. She met my uncle at a hospital and they married and he brought her up here to PA. She became a pillar in her community, and our family.
We should give Mexico California in exchange for Mexico. Let the Mexican people have a fully developed, modern "country" California. They must agree to send the population of Mexico to California.

Government "pork" is far less than the "pork" people buy on a regular basis. There is so much good in this bill, for education, infrastructure, health care for the masses etc, so be positive. I do not pretend to know everything, but I do know that I love this country, I miss the days of the fifties, and sixties when my dad who was a machinist by trade, union organizer, and entrepreneur gave our family a good life. My mom stayed home and took care of us, taught us respect, and went to church with us on Sunday mornings. Our grandfather lived with us until the day he died in 89. My mom welcomed all into our home, and helped the less fortunate. She taught me to care about others.

Actually if you look at a recent UCLA study you will see that researchers are now finding that Roosevelt's policies prolonged the Great Depression and it was the war and all of the industrial production that went along with the war that brought us out of it. Take that into consideration when looking at the deficit. The deficit was exacerbated by foreign trade imbalances. Keynesian economics need be applied globally to fix this problem even today. They have to provide no less than minimum care for whatever ails them. The big problem is they seek emergency room care for runny noses, earaches, etc;, things they should consult a doctor for. But, having no health insurance and low paying jobs, tso it's no wonder they go to the hospital at taxpayers expense.

I have no doubt that this is a political play by the Republicans, but be advised, it is one by the Democrats as well. These groups are perpetually posturing themselves politically. I don't trust them. The ignorance shown on both sides of the aisle helped create this mess. Hopefully, this infusion of taxpayer funds will have a positive effect. The people need to see some kind of leadership from Washington. I doubt the dems had a chance to read the bill themselves. It's all posturing by both parties. The reps have become fiscal watchdogs?? both parties are a joke. that aside, this bill is a bigger joke. the way to help our economy heal is to first identify what went wrong. overextension of credit, at both the personal and corporate levels. if you own more than you can afford or plan to pay back, you're part of the problem, not just the CEOs. the problem isn't one particular group's fault, it's the culmination of ignorance and greed in our people. and putting people temporarily to work basically fixing potholes is not creating jobs

The things I heard President Obama talk about would certainly create jobs, while helping the environment, lowering energy bills, and eventually help lower costs increasing what stays in the bank account, instead of going out the window. We didn't get into this mess overnight, and it will take time to get out of it.

actualy a lot of blogs and media outlets are posting large parts of the bill. but many parts simply outraged me. as i mentioned before it establishes a system so that all medical records will be kept by the federal government so they can help regulate health care. it is none of their damn business what i see my doctor for. and if this was about creating jobs then you would see many more projefts for construction and research within the bill. there is some but it is an insultingly small amount.

The Iraq war isn't over and has not be paid for yet. So we don't know the cost. Some estimates are as high as 3 trillion when long term health care of our wounded are added in.

I read the stimulus and the part that pissed me off the most was the expansion of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
The tax credit is paid to businesses that hire:
-ex felons
-16-25 year olds who haven't worked or tried to educate themselves in the past 6 months
So if a law abiding HS graduate and a HS dropout drug dealer compete for the same job, our tax dollars will pay the business to hire the dropout criminal.
Bribing companies w/our taxes to hire criminals isn't a priority for me!

Greed sneaks it way into everything. It is a shame. Many good ideas, and high ideals have been ruined by someone's greed, and selfishness. We are in this thing together, and if we could unite, and keep our minds open to new ideas, change, and acceptance how much better our world could be. I have made wrong decisions in my life, and learned from them. I am open to learning. I have many conservative views, I am pro- life, yet for the death penalty when the case is clear cut.

You know what they say about hind sight. But, I think that more attention and money should have been put into creating a stronger US, war on drugs, rebuilding our manufacturing base, creating alternative fuel industry, and reigning in corporate greed, and I would have voted for a Republican if this were the platform. My first choice was Ron Paul, but no one gave him a chance. I have little faith in our political process, and media involvement. I think we need balance Capitalism/Socialism.

I said a balance between the two. Have you ever read about Norman Thomas. He was a union organizer, he did not want to give money to bums who do not want to work, he wanted the hard working to be given fair pay and decent working conditions as so greedy business owners did not walk all over those who were making them richer, exactly what is going on in China and Mexico today. If the Mexicans had better work conditions and pay, they would not come here.

If Mexico didnt have a corrupt political system that could ensure its citizens could get a real education and thus created real prosperity, then they wouldnt have to invade this country and a be a burden on our economy. There are those that believe that soon there will be a new world order and Mexico will be joined with The United States, and Canada, forming the North American Union. I would hate to see this happen. I just can't imagine it. I do have an Aunt who is half American Indian and half Mexican born in San Antonio in 1925, and she is the most wonderful person I have ever known in my life. She is loving, kind, compassionate, and has always worked hard all her life, and volunteered too.

Her mother died when she was young, at the age of 11 her dad died, and went to work in a hospital as a nurses aide. She contracted TB there. After her hospitalization she continued to work to support her siblings. She met my uncle at a hospital and they married and he brought her up here to PA. She became a pillar in her community, and our family.

Your language is totally inappropriate. There is not need for that type of language. It is time to stop fearing government because the government is the people. Government "pork" is far less than the "pork" people buy on a regular basis. There is so much good in this bill, for education, infrastructure, health care for the masses etc, so be positive. Presently non legal aliens who work, using false SS#s are contributing to the SS system and unable to collect, pumping up the system. In NJ, they are not allowed to collect welfare, food stamps, HUD, or medicaid. Only immigrants who paid taxes and SS 10 yrs. prior to 1996, and are legal qualify. uniform law reform is needed throughout the nation.

I do not pretend to know everything, but I do know that I love this country, I miss the days of the fifties, and sixties when my dad who was a machinist by trade, union organizer, and entrepreneur gave our family a good life. My mom stayed home and took care of us, taught us respect, and went to church with us on Sunday mornings. Our grandfather lived with us until the day he died in 89. My mom welcomed all into our home, and helped the less fortunate. She taught me to care about others.

I did spoke out opposing many of Bushs policies. I do however believe in Supply Side economics. Or as the liberals call it, tax breaks for the rich. Providing tax invectives to those with the power and resources to create jobs makes sense. It worked all throughout the mid 1980,1990s and much of this decade. That is of course assuming there are no other bailouts,and the GDP dosn't contract worse than expected.
