Hypothetically, what if you had to fire this rifle at an upward angle? For example, a police officer has to shoot at an upper story window of a house. Will it jam instead of ejecting the case from the front?
Question .. How would you clear an ejection port jam (jam of the ejection tube itself.. let's say in a worst case scenario and a rock gets jammed in there). Do you have to take it apart, or is it easily accessible?
FS2000 F2000 FN bullpup precedes Kel-tec RFB by several years... same forward eject tube system... it would be the first truly left or right hand gun.
Seems to me this Bullpup would lend itself better to putting boots to butts in a CQB. I like the 7.62 x 51 much better than the 556 just for the fact of size and pure power. There is extra weight to be considered, but in a woodland survival situation the gun could be great protection, plus that round will take a freakin elk down.
First things firs great job on the video. But even the p90 is technicaly an ambi bullpup and its been out for alot longer than the RFB. keep up the good work on the vids.
@DirtyBird303rd the RFB is an ambidextrous semi-automatic rifle, the p90 is deemed a bullpup submachinegun, I think he meant the first fully ambidextrous bullpup rifle on the market
that is not the first ambi bullpup.....maybe you should do your research before you make a review on a relatively new bullpup..... you have FN Hers..... the Aug......maybe you should look up what the red coats on the other side of the pond us.....or maybe even the ausie's......and while you are at it.... how about straighten up your man cave you got there......chicks dig clean dudes
@awildazzloony It says on the Kel-Tec website that it is the first TRULY ambidextrous bullpup, because of the forward ejection method, so unless the actual company that makes this weapon is wrong, you would be incorrect.
"The first ambidextrous bullpup on the market." is incorrect. The FN F2000 was in production in 2001. Sorry guy, but you need to get out more often ;-)
@jtschau he said the first "TRULY" and it is just that because you can change the cocking lever on the RFB, but not on the FN2000, you should listen to detail ;-)
@kewlneasy88 How did I know you'd try to talk down to me like that? Alright. I'll give you that they'd make a .308 CQB rifle cause there's a market for that, but being that that thing's got plenty of barrel to be a Designated marksman rifle, probably comparable to the M110, I don't see calling this guy out puttin a scope on the thing as a legitimate gripe. Actually, I don't see that it was designed for CQB in the first place being that it's in .308. But who knows.
@Harris91 Hey harris, don't even bother with this guy (kewlneasy). He is severly retarded and every chance he gets, attempts to let you have a peek at his vast and expansive firearms knowledge. To sum it up, he knows more about firearms than anyone, anywhere, at all times, and he is the only US vet to use youtube, everyone else must be a poser if they are not him.
@CombatMasterpiece Man, kewlneasy's stupidity is almost beyond comprehension, I wonder if he realizes that a bullpup rifle like this can go from QCB to long range DMR XD ...did he only watch the first 5 seconds???
@nightember Yeah, I've read his comments on other pages and you can just tell he's a bit slow, IF he actually was in the military he was scrubbing toilets. And don't worry "Quarters Close Battle," still makes sense to me.
Thanks for making the video. FYI, The FN F2000 is also forward ejecting, ambidextrous, as well as a bullpup design. It was designed in the late80s/early90s, and launched in 2001.
A lot of people dont know this but Kel-Tec's plant is small and they can only make 1 type of gun at any given time. So they make X amount of the RFB, then they switch over and make X amount of the KSG, etc etc. They are too affraid of loosing business if they have to shut down for a week or two and move to a larger building.
lol, you guys look like you were bullyed to much at school. ;)
no offense, just a thought though. ;)
now to be serious: lefty or righty, doesn't matter for shooting. i am right handed and i can do both hands with a rifle. shooting is just a matter of practice.
wow, a really expensive kel tec firearm, thats a oxymoron if I ever heard of one. I handled one at work when they first came out and I was VERY unimpressed with it. You would think they would up the plastic a bit, its the same flimsy ass plastic as any of the keltec guns on the market, only thicker. This gun should really be around a 1000 bucks, not 1300+ if you can find it that cheap, id rather go with a M1A or a nice fal, something thats actually battle proven.
@SonofLiberty1990 are you just pissed off you can find one? i have carried a p3at as a backup for years. it has been all over with me and never failed. i beat the sh** out of it and it's about as flimsy as my plastic glock. If you can find one for 1300, go for it! you could flip it for a quick 400 dollar profit!
sound like you are just pissed at the availability of the rfb or maybe the cost. p.s. your civilian FAL is not battle proven, nor is your civilian M1A copy
my fal is battle proven, only dif on it then the military real deal is a dsa reciever and few compliance parts. there is a rfb down the road for 1500 nib, and I will pass. M1a and fals ARE battle proven designs, the RFB is still in the testing stage and there is absolutely no military or LE interest. If i had 1500 bucks to piss away on a heavy ass bullpup gun made by keltec, id take it but I dont so I make my purchasing decisions wisely. Im not jealous or pissed, just given my op
@SonofLiberty1990 you can believe what you want but your civilian version of the FAL isn't even close to the battle proven full arsenal parts on an original FAL. Not only wont it stand up to rapid firing, it wont stand up to the crud and mud like a military version will. I'm only infantry and have been shooting for 20 years, what do I know.
Wow, you do realize I built my fal off of a demilled MILITARY parts kit, and DSA has contracts with the military and law enforcement. Imbel still currently manufacture FALs for the Brazilian military and the dies and machinery were from FN in belgium, so yeah I think my gun is perfectly fine with mil spec parts installed and a few thousand rounds later without a single jam proves my point along with common sense
@STORM6490MT My FAL is all military parts save the fire control, piston and the receiver, and those are made off of the original blueprints. (with refinements like sand cuts in the bolt that make it MORE reliable than it was as an ORIGINAL, FALO)
@STORM6490MT (your erased comment "A numbers matching arsenal weapon is far superior to your parts kit build. How the hell can you argue that? One's more tacticool?")
Yeah, it's more TACTICOOL, and you haven't seen my build. Built it because, I can. Honestly, I prefer my M70 Win, it doesn't stretch, tear, and demolish brass. Find an "arsenal" FAL that doesn't. And that doesn't have a garbage trigger. Quite frankly, I think you're a pogue. Stick that in your pipe and light it..
@STORM6490MT I know what you know: how to puff up on youtube. FALs are still crowbars. Mud & crud? Hmmm. Sand seems to work just fine (@ making them lock up) I suppose your 20 years of infantry taught you how to use an end mill to make sand cuts? Better than FN, IMBEL, or DSA. My stuff goes "bang" with every squeeze, I've been shooting for 35 years, and you're still a pogue. Go throw your stuff in the mud...
@robertcollins1825 your inability to have a conversation on the level without getting emotional gives me great insight as to what kind of person I'm dealing with. I don't do any basic CNC machining. I have an armorer who spent years in the Colorado School of Trade after the military. If you still believe that your parts kit build is as dependable as an original one the good for you. Maybe some day you will learn. You simply don't have the ability to obtain the right steel, tempering etc. Wise up
i like how u don't need any tools to take this apart besides a punch, just looking at it the disassembly of the gun. Rfb looks like a lot of cleaning compared to an ar10
I'm seriously thinking about this for my first rifle (in case the world takes a crap in the next few years). I don't like the idea of being out-gunned by the military variants of weapons, so I've been looking over the various SA "battle rifles". The RFB looks to be the best package as far as value for what you get.
I'd just like to point out that the RFB weighs less than the M1A (both without scopes attached) and is more than a foot shorter than the M1A, both with 16" barrels. I think that the "heftiness" that you were experiencing was because you aren't used to such a compact package weighing that much, but that is the beauty of bullpup designs. (location of statements regarding package design: 4:20)
great vid. can you tell me what that cylinder poking out above the barrel is for? why is it sticking out? this is the first RFB vid where I've seen it sticking out like that....
@williamED15 the AUG is ambidextrous the same as the SA-80 family is ambidextrous...everything BUT the brass ejection, which is the primary problem with lefties using bullpups. The problem is, there's only a few ways you can make a forward ejecting weapon, and FN and now Kel Tec have locked down two of the biggies, so anyone else looking to get into the market is in for some hefty royalty fines.
@ms3bani & Le FAMAS F-1 beats both by about 40+ years give or take as The FIRST truly ambidextrous Bullpup. But for Civilians in The States, who have a choice of purchasing a Bullpup, the FN FS2000 looks MUCH better than the RFB (Which stole the FS2k's forward ejecting system) Since the FS2000 was a prototype since 1995, IMO it's an over all better looking and handling Bullpup with less recoil, a higher Mag Cap, & with the FNH Tri-Rail it just looks even better. I love all Bullpups though.
@ms3bani actually the H&K g-11 was an ambidextrous bullpup and it was functional in the late 70's. Well before the P90.. in fact it's pretty obvious several of the most unique features the P90 has where first done on the G-11.
@ms3bani Ambidextrous bullpup. Even before the FN p90 was the Steyr AUG. You could switch which side the shells eject by an easy disassembly and reassembly almost as simple as field stripping.
@aikidokamks I believe the first production run had that on the gas system although i'm not sure what it is for. Mine does not have it and my serial # is in the 600's.
@XvChriisvX do you have anything to back this up or is it just comment spam? I Have yet to see any vid where the RFB has been knocked for its combination of usability price and quality.
@HammerheadWOC meh, this gun is actually pretty cool, its jus the rest of kel-tec, they seem.... pretty not good? i dont wanna say crappy, i had to clean my grandads kel-tec .380, its jus not a brand i like i guess, more of a opinion i guess =/
@XvChriisvX my thoughts exactly. Their little pistols seem junky to me, though I havent met anyone once who complained about one. And I worked in gun stores for a few years. The RFB felt really nice to me, which surprised me. I would like to put one through some dusty/dirty use and shoot a lot out of it, see how it does.
@labartic lol nice, the problem about the lil pocket pistols, their really hard to break down =/, they were to me, but eh, your not gonna be using that in afgainistan or whatever, they do get really dirty, my granddad keeps it in him pocket and theres alooooot of lint buildup, idk if that will do anything, its just something i noticed
i just put this gun on lay a way today at wild west traders in austell ga, i am thinking of hog hunting with it and just home defense. any thoughts on types of glass?
One of the issues I've noticed with this rifle, in a bulpup design is that the .308 produces a lot of kick that the rifle doesn't compensate very well for. In that sense, it wouldn't be very reliable in a high-stress situation where every round counts.
Iraqveteran first of all thanks for the videos. I want to know how you feel about not being able to buy full autos? And how you feel on semi-automatic weapons in a WROL situation and if it really matters if we can't have a full-auto or not. What do you say to the critics who say it really doesn't what assault rifle you get today because they were built on platforms of full auto, but they are all semi-automatic anyway, so they all shoot the same.
Finally got to shoulder one of these rifles this weekend. I wish a company like Sig would make a .308 bullpup, Kel Tec has had some quality problems in the past. While I'm sure they got this rifle squared away I'm a little put off by their build quality sometimes on their other guns.
Wow What a fag, you would die so fast in a war, espacily when you shoot like a wanna be black gangster. You probly dident hit shit when you kept pulling the trigger and the gun is made by the 2nd worst gun comapny in the world, high point being the first and i bet you have a high point as well. Go suck a dick fag.
throw that thing in water and mud and shoot it ...see if it is well worth it for combat situations,,dont think so, If you dont have the time to clean it and are going to be shooting in really but really bad situations i will go with the Bushmaster ACR!!! but the gun looks nice and sturdy, yeah go look it up you will see this field test of the acr how is being thrown into the mud and shot! its pretty crazy
The ACR was built to be a field weapon from the bottom up. The RFB was built as a civilian rifle and a proof of concept for smaller calibers to come. Naturally one might understand that a military rifle would take better to abuse.
@Iraqveteran8888: How would you rate this weapon as far as longevity is concerned? How many rounds, in your opinion, would you say the structural integrity of this rifle stand up to? Would this be a good service weapon? Do they make bayonet lugs for it?
@KJOSCOT Its a tough design. It needs to be kept pretty clean, but it's combat worthy...Just go to a gun store and hold one and youll see what I mean. Built very well and with pride here in the good ole US
@Iraqveteran8888 I would love to pick one up, but there are none around because Kel Tec has been dragging their feet with the over one year's worth of back order list. They should outsource to Colt, Ruger, or someone to get this fantastic design into mass production. How long did you have to wait for yours? Are there any problems with heat on the cheek when firing? Does it come with a lug?
Another question if you would please, how well would an ACOG (Aimpoint flavour) sight work on this weapon? I would like to thank you for posting this video. It really was informative and useful. Kudos, and thank you for your service to our country dear sir.
@KJOSCOT keltec makes a bayonet for it. the order to fix bayonets has not been given since vietnam. putting one on such a short rifle is a little silly. whatever trips your trigger.
it's in it's infantile stage and would not make a good battle rifle. plastic wears out under average GI abuse.
unless you have access to free uncle sam ammo, you couldn't afford to shoot it to death.
wait till the second generation comes out for more dependability.

The RFB looks to be the best package as far as value for what you get.
LoboLoco8908 10 months ago
I'd just like to point out that the RFB weighs less than the M1A (both without scopes attached) and is more than a foot shorter than the M1A, both with 16" barrels. I think that the "heftiness" that you were experiencing was because you aren't used to such a compact package weighing that much, but that is the beauty of bullpup designs. (location of statements regarding package design: 4:20)

great vid. can you tell me what that cylinder poking out above the barrel is for? why is it sticking out? this is the first RFB vid where I've seen it sticking out like that....

rfb is the first ambidextrous bullpup?
no sir. the FN P90 predates it by 21 years! the FN PS90 beats it by 6!

@Iraqveteran8888 sorry but isn't the fn f2000 a forward ejection bullpup ?

@Iraqveteran8888 At 1:19, was that a failure to cycle?
benner2000 8 months ago
@ms3bani steyer AUG beats even that
williamED15 11 months ago
@williamED15 There's a problem with that. The Aug is not Ambidextrous.
HandelMcmandle 11 months ago
@HandelMcmandle swear? dude i could have sworn it is
williamED15 11 months ago
@williamED15 the AUG is ambidextrous the same as the SA-80 family is ambidextrous...everything BUT the brass ejection, which is the primary problem with lefties using bullpups. The problem is, there's only a few ways you can make a forward ejecting weapon, and FN and now Kel Tec have locked down two of the biggies, so anyone else looking to get into the market is in for some hefty royalty fines.
ERAUsnow 11 months ago
@ERAUsnow i have never seen an L85 left hand shooter before
williamED15 11 months ago
@ERAUsnow Nothing on the AUG or SA-80 is ambi. The SA-80 doesn't even have side-switching ejection as the AUG does.
patsfanczar 11 months ago
HungarianLegionnaire 11 months ago
@ms3bani actually the H&K g-11 was an ambidextrous bullpup and it was functional in the late 70's. Well before the P90.. in fact it's pretty obvious several of the most unique features the P90 has where first done on the G-11.
Just not military bought it.
jagdtigerfukthis 7 months ago
@ms3bani Ambidextrous bullpup. Even before the FN p90 was the Steyr AUG. You could switch which side the shells eject by an easy disassembly and reassembly almost as simple as field stripping.

I can't remember if I asked this a long time ago or not, but would it work to put back up iron sights on the rail, or is that just kind of dumb?
ThaddeusMcSpalding 1 year ago
@ThaddeusMcSpalding - One could probably do whatever they want with a rifle, but a .308 with open sights just sounds kinda 1967.
KiwiStalk 1 year ago
@KiwiStalk I know, but I was wondering if it would work well. Just back up sights in case I dropped the thing on cement and shattered the optic lol.

oh kel-tec, you try so hard to be good but you end up sucking, every, time
XvChriisvX 1 year ago
@XvChriisvX do you have anything to back this up or is it just comment spam? I Have yet to see any vid where the RFB has been knocked for its combination of usability price and quality.
HammerheadWOC 1 year ago
@HammerheadWOC meh, this gun is actually pretty cool, its jus the rest of kel-tec, they seem.... pretty not good? i dont wanna say crappy, i had to clean my grandads kel-tec .380, its jus not a brand i like i guess, more of a opinion i guess =/
XvChriisvX 1 year ago
@XvChriisvX my thoughts exactly. Their little pistols seem junky to me, though I havent met anyone once who complained about one. And I worked in gun stores for a few years. The RFB felt really nice to me, which surprised me. I would like to put one through some dusty/dirty use and shoot a lot out of it, see how it does.
labartic 1 year ago
@labartic lol nice, the problem about the lil pocket pistols, their really hard to break down =/, they were to me, but eh, your not gonna be using that in afgainistan or whatever, they do get really dirty, my granddad keeps it in him pocket and theres alooooot of lint buildup, idk if that will do anything, its just something i noticed

@dhunter48951 Try an Aimpoint Comp M4, or .308 Trijicon Acog T-33. They are expensive, but very much worth it IMHO. Hope it helps.
KJOSCOT 1 year ago
One of the issues I've noticed with this rifle, in a bulpup design is that the .308 produces a lot of kick that the rifle doesn't compensate very well for. In that sense, it wouldn't be very reliable in a high-stress situation where every round counts.
NightmareKato 1 year ago
wrong guy the first ambidexious bullpup is the fs2000 and if you would lean in to your shots it will absordb most the recoil and improve your groups
vampireabby 1 year ago
Iraqveteran first of all thanks for the videos. I want to know how you feel about not being able to buy full autos? And how you feel on semi-automatic weapons in a WROL situation and if it really matters if we can't have a full-auto or not. What do you say to the critics who say it really doesn't what assault rifle you get today because they were built on platforms of full auto, but they are all semi-automatic anyway, so they all shoot the same.

Finally got to shoulder one of these rifles this weekend. I wish a company like Sig would make a .308 bullpup, Kel Tec has had some quality problems in the past. While I'm sure they got this rifle squared away I'm a little put off by their build quality sometimes on their other guns.

guycanivet 1 year ago
@guycanivet RFB > ACR
fatoni698 1 year ago
@guycanivet

KJOSCOT 1 year ago 2
@KJOSCOT Its a tough design. It needs to be kept pretty clean, but it's combat worthy...Just go to a gun store and hold one and youll see what I mean. Built very well and with pride here in the good ole US
Iraqveteran8888 1 year ago 7
@Iraqveteran8888 I would love to pick one up, but there are none around because Kel Tec has been dragging their feet with the over one year's worth of back order list. They should outsource to Colt, Ruger, or someone to get this fantastic design into mass production. How long did you have to wait for yours? Are there any problems with heat on the cheek when firing? Does it come with a lug?
KJOSCOT 1 year ago
Another question if you would please, how well would an ACOG (Aimpoint flavour) sight work on this weapon? I would like to thank you for posting this video. It really was informative and useful. Kudos, and thank you for your service to our country dear sir.
KJOSCOT 1 year ago
@Iraqveteran8888 Just a few questions:
Does it operate using direct inpengement?
Did 2 round squeeze bursts feel awkward?
Did the magazine release catch cause any problems?
Would you recommend this for home defense?
Thanks
williamED15 11 months ago
@KJOSCOT keltec makes a bayonet for it. the order to fix bayonets has not been given since vietnam. putting one on such a short rifle is a little silly. whatever trips your trigger.
it's in it's infantile stage and would not make a good battle rifle. plastic wears out under average GI abuse.
unless you have access to free uncle sam ammo, you couldn't afford to shoot it to death.
wait till the second generation comes out for more dependability.
