I'm really torn between N8 and E7! I'm a student and wouldn't probably need all the business features in E7 but I like the fact that it has a qwerty keyboard and a big screen. On the other hand N8 has a great camera and a place for a memory card.. hm.

i traded my nokia E7 for a ericson ark and trust me the E7 is by far the best and most comfort phone out there fuck all those cheap plastic peaces of shit with good software. Nokia has good soft + good hardware thats how phones should be and they just got pushd away by a dumb soceity thats such a bullshit they have the best phones by far !
@EmFernie I currently own a G2 and i'm totally loving it! Tried the E7 at the nokia store a few months back. Gave up on it right after trying the slider mechanism which felt stiff and unnatural so I can't comment on the software.
For normal usage I've never had any problems with the G2's hinge. I prefer Android over Symbian due to custom roms which improves speed and usability over stock ones. But my advice is to go test both phones out before you decide. =D

I know that in some phones that are touch screen AND have a keyboard, you can also type a text msg on the screen (Not only on the keyboard) Can you do that on the E7?
Forget about Android and iPhone. Symbian's still the best! I got this two weeks ago at Axiom and I haven't regretted it, and I got two years warranty of course, since it's a Nokia. Damn good!

For whole life I used to play with symbian a lot more than an average user, but I was bored of it, my last symbian phone was N86 and now its N900 but whn i came to know about Symbian^3, im in love once again with it,
And guess what, you can also get some HD games of Iphone4 and new apps are also being made what else do u want?? Symbian will never be a faluire though there ups and downs.

Boycott Nokia! I've been in one of their factories in Romania. People were payed 200USD/month, not allowed to form a syndicate, their contracts were renewed each 3 months - if they did not comply they would be fired. Overtime was poorly payed or not payed at all, but required. NOKIA IS MODERN SLAVERY and with each product you buy from them you condone their labor practices. Their policy is: if people are poor and accept to work for little money, make slaves out of them. Nokia is evil.
Just looking at this phone makes me frustrated. The lags are irritating, as well as the fact that you have to press several times on the screen for it to react. Ant the menu is still too complicated. unfortunately, it's still a Nokia.

The thing I love the most in this phone is I can put it on the table or somewhere when I watch something from its screen. I have had iPhone3, it is ok, but I have to hold it in my hand all the time when I use it.
I watch a lot of movies, use alot of Youtube and play a lot of games with my phone, so I think this is the best choice, because my hand has already been sore :D Can´t wait for it!
@buniaaron There are WAAAAY better devices for watching movies than the E7. This devices screen resolution is low considering the screen size, the processor and RAM is that of the average budget smartphone, and the OS is generally seen as boring, clunky, frustrating and unintuitive. I have an iPhone 3Gs and am planning to upgrade this year to an Android device. Tbh, you should do the same :)
What I like the most about Nokia's N900 is the fact, that it was not promoted as a mainstream phone . It's really more for insiders or people who want to have a reliable, expanding OS (Linux).
Guys, you should all stop whining and complaining about Symbian. If you don't like it; here's an idea: DON'T BUY IT!
If every single phone manufacturer produced the exact same thing, choice would not exist and the market would become boring, the progression of technology would slow down! If you like Colours, go to android, if you like a locked up system which you can't accidentally modify, go with apple/IOS.
If you want android, go to HTC or Samsung. Nokia don't want it and neither do i!
@paulito893: Never mind, I prefer my N900 :-) Linux and Symbian is like day and night when you are familiar with softwares ;-) But in the end it's up to the customer. I think, that Symbian might turn out to be a big fail for Nokia in the future as it is not attractive for programmers and too sensitive. Using a Linux based OS from the very beginning would have been better and safer..

But is the opposite extreme...windows phone...the right answer? WP7 is so closed it doesn't even allow custom mp3 ringtones/alarms etc...a feature that's been on mobile phones for...well, a LONG time. nokia-faithful customers (like myself, sorta) will have a hard time adjusting, i think. if anything they need both android and WP7 lines of phones; like HTC/Samsung/LG etc provides.
Hunterbgpz you're right dude! if it's only a prototype then i suggest that they should put at least 1 ghz processor and there you can put android(2.3 gingerbread at least) or windows 7 OS... this way it would be better...
P.S. redesign the keys since it covers a lot of space and it's very small...

Android? Nokia are not going to embrace android, and this is by choice! Android runs on the Desire-Z @ 600mhz, this phone's hardware is more than adequate for it.
This phone looks a lot snappier than my mate's HTC Desire HD @1ghz and this is due to a more efficient OS (Symbian).
I wouldn't buy the Nokia E 7. The fact that Symbian is the OS is horrible and makes it crappy. I don't get it why they don't use Linux for this phone? The N900 might be thicker and heavier but is definetly better running and offers more possibilites with its Maemo (Linux).
@Moonbasebrothers n900 is for enthusiasts and developers. It's an awesome phone to play with, I loved having xterm on it. I overcloked my mate's one to 1.1ghz (all I needed to do was load a new kernel onto it, very easy). That being said, it lacked a lot of 3rd party apps that symbian had, and it was too heavy to fit into my pocket.
The n900 only sold 100k so it's not beneficial for nokia to use maemo here.
Also, E series are for business smartphones, not geeky projects ;)
This would've been truly the best phone with a 1ghz processor, can't even imagine it with a dual-core... it will still be the best Business Phone out there for at least a couple of more years!

@elizarock69 If nokia wanted to use android, they would. Nokia are not appealing to the same market as android. As I said in my comment at the top, competition is a good thing. I don't want every phone manufacturer to produce the same phone. If you want Android, why not go for a Samsung or HTC phone? Let Nokia produce phones for business people (E series) and whoever else they chose to market their phones for.

N900 is a hell of a lot of fun to play with and for geeky projects.
E7 is ideal for a practical kind of phone, it is a business smartphone afterall (I've never used one though so I'm only going by research here). My E71 is a business smartphone and it's the most efficient I've used. A lot better for me than my old 5800XM!
I don't know about the other one. What are your needs/wants from the phone?

well X6 doesnt have multi touch so u can pinch to zoom for example, plus it runs on older symbian.. this one here has multi touch and symbian 3 which is alot faster! (nokia fanboy)

@mustangbarry I partly agree. The camera "sucks" and the screen _resolution_ is bad, but the colors and the black are astonishing! I was like wow! It's the new CBD screen-technology from Nokia :) The keyboard is also the best I ever tried on a qwerty phone!

Just looking at this phone makes me frustrated. The lags are irritating, as well as the fact that you have to press several times on the screen for it to react. Ant the menu is still too complicated. unfortunately, it's still a Nokia.

OMG!!! This will definetely be my new phone! It is just like the world´s smallest laptop!
The thing I love the most in this phone is I can put it on the table or somewhere when I watch something from its screen. I have had iPhone3, it is ok, but I have to hold it in my hand all the time when I use it.
I watch a lot of movies, use alot of Youtube and play a lot of games with my phone, so I think this is the best choice, because my hand has already been sore :D Can´t wait for it!

@buniaaron There are WAAAAY better devices for watching movies than the E7. This devices screen resolution is low considering the screen size, the processor and RAM is that of the average budget smartphone, and the OS is generally seen as boring, clunky, frustrating and unintuitive. I have an iPhone 3Gs and am planning to upgrade this year to an Android device. Tbh, you should do the same :)

What I like the most about Nokia's N900 is the fact, that it was not promoted as a mainstream phone . It's really more for insiders or people who want to have a reliable, expanding OS (Linux).

Guys, you should all stop whining and complaining about Symbian. If you don't like it; here's an idea: DON'T BUY IT!
If every single phone manufacturer produced the exact same thing, choice would not exist and the market would become boring, the progression of technology would slow down! If you like Colours, go to android, if you like a locked up system which you can't accidentally modify, go with apple/IOS.
If you want android, go to HTC or Samsung. Nokia don't want it and neither do i!

@paulito893: Never mind, I prefer my N900 :-) Linux and Symbian is like day and night when you are familiar with softwares ;-) But in the end it's up to the customer. I think, that Symbian might turn out to be a big fail for Nokia in the future as it is not attractive for programmers and too sensitive. Using a Linux based OS from the very beginning would have been better and safer..

But is the opposite extreme...windows phone...the right answer? WP7 is so closed it doesn't even allow custom mp3 ringtones/alarms etc...a feature that's been on mobile phones for...well, a LONG time. nokia-faithful customers (like myself, sorta) will have a hard time adjusting, i think. if anything they need both android and WP7 lines of phones; like HTC/Samsung/LG etc provides.

Hunterbgpz you're right dude! if it's only a prototype then i suggest that they should put at least 1 ghz processor and there you can put android(2.3 gingerbread at least) or windows 7 OS... this way it would be better...
P.S. redesign the keys since it covers a lot of space and it's very small...

@zidanefreya88 he was actually talking about the processor to make it faster and not to castrate it with android or win...i can't write this...it's to evil even to think about it....they using symbian because they build a tool and not a toy. for everything else you can use andoid, iOs or w'+... the alternative to the nokia E series is a blackberry. but not andoid ^^

Android? Nokia are not going to embrace android, and this is by choice! Android runs on the Desire-Z @ 600mhz, this phone's hardware is more than adequate for it.
This phone looks a lot snappier than my mate's HTC Desire HD @1ghz and this is due to a more efficient OS (Symbian).

I wouldn't buy the Nokia E 7. The fact that Symbian is the OS is horrible and makes it crappy. I don't get it why they don't use Linux for this phone? The N900 might be thicker and heavier but is definetly better running and offers more possibilites with its Maemo (Linux).

@Moonbasebrothers n900 is for enthusiasts and developers. It's an awesome phone to play with, I loved having xterm on it. I overcloked my mate's one to 1.1ghz (all I needed to do was load a new kernel onto it, very easy). That being said, it lacked a lot of 3rd party apps that symbian had, and it was too heavy to fit into my pocket.
The n900 only sold 100k so it's not beneficial for nokia to use maemo here.
Also, E series are for business smartphones, not geeky projects ;)

@elizarock69 If nokia wanted to use android, they would. Nokia are not appealing to the same market as android. As I said in my comment at the top, competition is a good thing. I don't want every phone manufacturer to produce the same phone. If you want Android, why not go for a Samsung or HTC phone? Let Nokia produce phones for business people (E series) and whoever else they chose to market their phones for.

N900 is a hell of a lot of fun to play with and for geeky projects.
E7 is ideal for a practical kind of phone, it is a business smartphone afterall (I've never used one though so I'm only going by research here). My E71 is a business smartphone and it's the most efficient I've used. A lot better for me than my old 5800XM!
I don't know about the other one. What are your needs/wants from the phone?

N9. it has 512mb ram and E7 256mb, N9 has 1ghz intel and E7 0,680GHz ARM11.
N9 is 2x better! 50% more performance in games nad using this!! 50% faster! so.... yeah the N9 is best nokia

I'm sorry, but Nokia makes pretty nice hardware, however their phones SUCK!!!!!!!!!! :P You would have to PAY ME to get me to use one of these! (A lot) I would choose a feature phone over one of these any day. I would MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH rather have an iPhone or Android. Only phones I would consider. This is junk. If you payed me to use one for a week I would use the money on an iPhone 4...

well X6 doesnt have multi touch so u can pinch to zoom for example, plus it runs on older symbian.. this one here has multi touch and symbian 3 which is alot faster! (nokia fanboy)

@mustangbarry I partly agree. The camera "sucks" and the screen _resolution_ is bad, but the colors and the black are astonishing! I was like wow! It's the new CBD screen-technology from Nokia :) The keyboard is also the best I ever tried on a qwerty phone!
