I mean it was gutsy to develop a diesel powerplant to race esp the stigma that diesel has, of being slow and all. but i guess they were looking at it on the aspect of fuel efficiency (less pit stops) and durability (less mechanical break downs) kudos to that AUDI. The 4 rings of fury as i call it.

I love all german cars, but audi is the one i have the most mixed feelings about, sure they pioneered the rally scene for a period (where are they now). There was a period where they were plagued with transmission problems, i must say though i am proud of them for taking the chance and developing the tdi v12 that they enter in the 24hr of le mans, i am a very big fan of diesel. I think they took a page out of subarus book on how to build a robust transmission with an awd system

@DrKrycek: there is a big difference between audi and vw. just sit down in audi an close the door. the sound of closing the door is way better than the noise a vw makes when you do that.

Sadly mistaken. Funny how people compare Passats to A4's even when the frame & platform of the car is different along with the entire drivetrain and suspension. The Audi A3 is the only car that was based off of the Golf but there's a reason you don't see ANY A3's in this video. ;)

Sorry... but the Golf is a copy from the A3. The A3 is from Sept. 96 (just like mine) and Golf is from 98. And the Passat and A4 platforms are the same, I can garanty it! I've have a firend who works in Audi. ;)

Ahh but that would depend on which platforms you base your answer upon? the first A4 had 2 seperate platform bases 2wd and awd, the awd B5 platform was made especially for the Quattro models, the 2wd platform B5 chassis was adapted for the Passat by means of giving extra legroom to rear passengers, the syncro and 4motion are indeed different again? the passat is more likened to the A6 in respects of roominess.
