Right, the only reason some people might construe this film as being a "flop" is partly due to the harsh editing. This film in it's entirety (the Extended Cut) is a creative masterpiece and really should be the only version anyone watches.

@joecrookes Thats bullshit. I liked this movie too, but it had a lot of problems: boring middle, lack of good protagonists, poor pacing. Also it didnt really feel epic enough, and the silliness which served Mad Max so well doesnt work here, because in Mad Max there were a lot of gruesome, heavily realistic bits, and that sort of gave it a nightmarish qaulity. This film is a bit too Hollywood to properly capture the horror of its reality, and I think thats why the film falls flat.

I agree, this IS one of the best movies ever made. Probably the only reason it didn't get so much attention is becasue Steven Speilberg didn't work on the film, all of his films get too much attention. Films this good that are never made by him alway's get bad rep and no spotlight.
