Jethro Tull, The Minstrel Looks Back 1969-1977 2DVD features concert footage from Tampa 1976, London Hippodrome 1977, Beat Club 1970 plus rare footage from Thick as a Brick/Passion Play tours more info available at Tommygunvideo please see our youtube channel for link/clips/more details
This is the greatest double bill concert in rock history. Early blues-pre prog. rock Jethro Tull combined with The Who nearing their peak as a great live rock band.
I have listened to this band from the "This Was" Era. I have seen them 5 plus times... just last month @ Red Rocks Colorado 2011... I play flute because of Ian. ...As John Lennon once said to a reporter who asked if he could "hear" the music over the screaming girls... he said "It's OK ... I have the album at home" !!!
If you want tp see this in high quality, go to the Wolfgang's Vault website. It has then entire concert. It's fantastic. They also have the Who performance from this same date.
In fact, Wolfgang's Vault is an incredible resource for live music and video. Definitely one of the finest sites on the web for live music.
In saw Jethro Tull on the Aqualung tour in 1972 in Florida. It was one of the last shows with clive Bunker. todat, it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. clive Bunker is an incredible drummer. Jethro Tull was heavy and jamming and loud!!!
you are right.. The show was at an amusement park called Pirates World in Dania Florida. It was spring break in 1971. I read that Clive Bunker left the band in Florida so this concert may have been one of his last shows. Jethro Tull was heavy and tight and Clive Bunker did an amazing drum solo. The back up band was Curved Air from England and they were very good.
@oregonbobv thats quite awesome that you saw clive live with the band you might have seen the last show with clive i know i downloaded the bootleg recording of it from some site that has a lot of tull boots. I'll have to check to see where that show was played out. My favorite drummer in the band there was something about his style of playing don't get me wrong Barrie was a great replacement but i liked clive and cornick being in the band
Great song and performance! Track needs editing though. It can be done with the right equipment. I miss the old long haired hippie bands. They were so cool and these videos are totally awesome.
This was released on the Aqualung in 1971 so I'm not sure what you point is. Tull have never stopped using acoustic instruments. Ian is a unplugged type of guy.
Its kinda cool watching this show and comparing it to THE WHO gig that also played that night. Same cameras, same quality. Clive sitting where Keith sits, both wearing white t-shirts and both looking very similar when they play fills.
the kid's were so loud at the beginning that they have to cut out all the counselors screams of "quiet down" weren't heard. But yet another WICKED Performance by the Machine created by Ian Anderson called Jethro Tull.
They Rock and Ian's Flute Solo is a typical whole hearted whole body and soul pour out.
Gonna see them in CA in a couple of months....Rock ON!!!
This is amazing...

Sorry, but I'm always going to love skinny,long-haired men..even if it seems like nobody looks like that anymore.
Big and macho repulses me.

I uploaded a SICK REMASTER of this concert, including the headliner The Who, in my channel. Thanks BR for this original mix.

Wore Aqualung out several times growing up. It's an antidote to mindless dogma and blind faith.

To bad you don't have this lineup anymore i personally believe this is the best tull lineup there ever was.

What made Tull so incredible was not just the AWESOME sound and the lyrics.... Rather the absurdity of the whole TULL experience.
