Ok so I watched the entire video.....This man needs to refrain from spreading his ideology on people. pt 2- Most kids dress weird due to insecurity. What good does it do to mimic the very thing God is trying to set them free of? That's my biggest problem with allot of Christian rock, though I can't with a clean conscience say that all Christian music with a rock style is wrong.
There's nothing wrong with a Christian song having lead guitar spots and to sound very modern. But Christian rock goes wrong when they embrace the "rock culture" of the world. They'd have a much greater impact (if their goal was evangelism) to dress totally normal and play their music without all of the hype of a stage show. I grew up in a church that was legalistic. For the longest time, I struggled with breaking out of that conformist thinking. When I did, I went into oblivion and rebellion against Jesus. It was not the Gospel that was applied to me; it was the church's legal standards. When you press somebody about what is right and wrong, make sure you, yourself, acknowledge that you're a sinner. Make sure you press them with what the Bible says not on your dislikes about the world.

After listening to CCM for 30+ years, I fail to see it as "evil" and "wrong". What do u mean "expose" as if u have some inside knowledge no-one else has? Throughout history, the church has rejected most musical instruments and concepts that you likely listen to now. As for the word "grace" It can be applicable to other situations, for example sometimes parking officers will offer a driver a bit of grace and allow them to overstay their time limit.

@OldUgly Any way the bible says a little yeast (rock n roll) will eventually work through the whole batch of dough, the rock n roll freak shows need to be removed from the church. The rock n roll freak shows are there because selfish musicians want their cake and eat it to, put another way they want to be both in the world and at the same time enjoy what the world has to offer, in this case Rock Music. But rather than feel guilty they devise a plan to merge the two, God hates the mixture!
I give my music away (not trying to announce with trumpets) just trying to make a point. I'm not in it for the money. My goal is to reach someone with music so that they might be saved through the power of the Holy Spirit. I've heard it said the road is paved with good intentions. I am a Christian guy who loves God and am grateful for what He did on the cross to save me from sin. I will never claim not to make mistakes as that would be unrealistic and a lie. I don't wear makeup ever, I don't dress up to play music, when I write lyrics and music sometimes I don't think it's even coming from my own brain entirely because the words and tunes come to me so fast sometimes. But I can tell you that I love the sound of a cranked up amp thumping crunch from a guitar! Is that bad?
The way I'm understanding this, is you believe there is nothing good about proclaiming the Gospel if it is accompanied by the sounds of rock music. Granted I think it's possible another genre term could be in order. But if God's word doesn't go out null or void, how is it possible to righteously judge the sound of the music, if the message of the lyrics are structured to reach lost souls? Well I have a question. Why is it any different for a believing musician in blue jeans to use electricity to produce audio for the sake of bringing people to God, and a believing guy in a suit to use electricity to produce video for the sake of bringing people to God? I'm reminded of the 2 guys Jesus spoke of in a parable. One guy states that he is glad he is not like those sinners, while the other beat his breast and asked forgiveness for being a sinner. Jesus said the second was more blessed.

One thing that I don't understand is how you can take one thing and say that it is evil because of where it originated. in the bible it says to equip oneself with a sword and a helmet, which are tools of war. War has been slaughtering people throughout history. Why would the Word of God call Salvation a helmet, and the Spirit a sword? Is a sword (like rock music) the devil's because he used it to kill or God's because its in his Word and he used it to protect?
I really like this! Okay I love Christian Rock and always will, but I love finding small little flaws in these things. I really love how they are trying to help (I really do) but they have small flaws. For instance, while there are some "Christian" musicians who are living the life of the world, but most reach out to the hurt and the helpless (I've seen it with my eyes). I believe some of this is true. I also believe the CCM industry is more focused on making money then saving souls now. Once Sanctus Real covered U2's "beautiful day" and Sparrow records allowed it, it opened my eyes to whats going on with the CCM industry. Then they won a dove award for it! Why? That song has nothing to do with Christ, salvation or Christianity. And at worst... it could lead Christians to think U2 is good godly music and embrace them.

Im a Christian metal musician, and i know and acknowledge that this skill wasn't just given to me for no reason. God gave it to me and i told myself to not take this for granted. The whole band is very humble when it comes to our skills and we are not ashamed.
A Christians source should be the Bible and not his heart. What does the Bible say ? Well it's there 2 Corinthians 6:15 So whether you like the idea or not you are arguing against God. Look I played Metal and I have a home studio. There are other forms of music other than Rock. I miss playing metal on stage as well, but the Bible is my guide. I personally know people who have been introduced to non-judgemental christianity by listening to bands like Skillet and 12 Stones. What you've shown in this video, is a small number of bands that appear to have sold out to fame and fortune.
In the Old Testament, there is clear witness "Given by God", where people were inspired "BY GOD" to sing and play all manner of instruments in Praise to Him. Would you now take that praise away from God with how you seem to be judging "All Rock music".
Some rock music "is extreme", some not always peaceful to the ear, but shouldn't Jesus Christ be the judge of that - "Not You"?.

I had never heard those two clips before in my life. But I could feel in my spirit that the first clip was unclean and dark, but the second clip didn't have a negative effect on my spirit. I just learned of an experiment done on mice who were played different kinds of music. I had band mates that just wanted to drink and pop pills but I removed myself from that. I still went to practice and did a lot of writing for the bands. Sure, the lyrics were kind of dark, but it wasn't in my heart. I wanted to pass a message to people that life is "Dark", but the "Light" will ways win in the end.

There's nothing wrong with a Christian song having lead guitar spots and to sound very modern. But Christian rock goes wrong when they embrace the "rock culture" of the world. They'd have a much greater impact (if their goal was evangelism) to dress totally normal and play their music without all of the hype of a stage show. I grew up in a church that was legalistic. For the longest time, I struggled with breaking out of that conformist thinking. When I did, I went into oblivion and rebellion against Jesus. It was not the Gospel that was applied to me; it was the church's legal standards. When you press somebody about what is right and wrong, make sure you, yourself, acknowledge that you're a sinner. Make sure you press them with what the Bible says not on your dislikes about the world.

"the message of the lyrics are structured to reach lost souls?" There was absolutely nothing in those lyrics that would convict a sinner of guilt, if i heard that song on the radio i would not ever connect that song with salvation. The driving beat that appeals to the flesh, that's it! I don't think the singer ever mentioned the Lords name.

I was thumpin' around on an Epiphone acoustic that my father had given me shortly before he passed away from an 8 yr long battle with cancer. The idea was spontaneous and it really is how I feel about the gift of life and the gift of salvation. As for your comment about conviction of sinners, who else would I be referring to but God, when I mention grace in the song? Who else offers such a thing? Did you notice the verses I referenced thoughout the vid? Did you not hear me say "thank You Jesus" @ the end?

You may know what you were singing about but how many non Christians would have figured it out? I'm guessing none. As for the word "grace" It can be applicable to other situations, for example sometimes parking officers will offer a driver a bit of grace and allow them to overstay their time limit.

Some songs are structured 2 describe testimonies that would appeal 2 and be understood by believers, people who have already been convicted & can relate to the message. @OldUgly Any way the bible says a little yeast (rock n roll) will eventually work through the whole batch of dough, the rock n roll freak shows need to be removed from the church. The rock n roll freak shows are there because selfish musicians want their cake and eat it to, put another way they want to be both in the world and at the same time enjoy what the world has to offer, in this case Rock Music. But rather than feel guilty they devise a plan to merge the two, God hates the mixture!

I give my music away (not trying to announce with trumpets) just trying to make a point. I'm not in it for the money. My goal is to reach someone with music so that they might be saved through the power of the Holy Spirit. I've heard it said the road is paved with good intentions. But am I blowing it for the ones I'm trying to reach because I chose a style of music that some prefer? I'm being serious about this! I've been clear in my conscience about it. Am I wrong? I want to know!

I am a Christian guy who loves God and am grateful for what He did on the cross to save me from sin. I will never claim not to make mistakes as that would be unrealistic and a lie. I don't wear makeup ever, I don't dress up to play music, when I write lyrics and music sometimes I don't think it's even coming from my own brain entirely because the words and tunes come to me so fast sometimes. But I can tell you that I love the sound of a cranked up amp thumping crunch from a guitar! Is that bad?

The way I'm understanding this, is you believe there is nothing good about proclaiming the Gospel if it is accompanied by the sounds of rock music. Granted I think it's possible another genre term could be in order. But if God's word doesn't go out null or void, how is it possible to righteously judge the sound of the music, if the message of the lyrics are structured to reach lost souls? This doesn't make any sense. Am I to assume just because u have nice hair and a suit on that u are right?

Well I have a question. Why is it any different for a believing musician in blue jeans to use electricity to produce audio for the sake of bringing people to God, and a believing guy in a suit to use electricity to produce video for the sake of bringing people to God? I'm reminded of the 2 guys Jesus spoke of in a parable. One guy states that he is glad he is not like those sinners, while the other beat his breast and asked forgiveness for being a sinner. Jesus said the second was more blessed.

One thing that I don't understand is how you can take one thing and say that it is evil because of where it originated. in the bible it says to equip oneself with a sword and a helmet, which are tools of war. War has been slaughtering people throughout history. Why would the Word of God call Salvation a helmet, and the Spirit a sword? Is a sword (like rock music) the devil's because he used it to kill or God's because its in his Word and he used it to protect?

I really like this! Okay I love Christian Rock and always will, but I love finding small little flaws in these things. I really love how they are trying to help (I really do) but they have small flaws. For instance, while there are some "Christian" musicians who are living the life of the world, but most reach out to the hurt and the helpless (I've seen it with my eyes). They tell people in a world of sin that there is a way out.

I believe some of this is true. I also believe the CCM industry is more focused on making money then saving souls now. Once Sanctus Real covered U2's "beautiful day" and Sparrow records allowed it, it opened my eyes to whats going on with the CCM industry. Then they won a dove award for it! Why? That song has nothing to do with Christ, salvation or Christianity. And at worst... it could lead Christians to think U2 is good godly music and embrace them.

Look I played Metal and I have a home studio. There are other forms of music other than Rock. I miss playing metal on stage as well, but the Bible is my guide. I respectfully disagree, especially with your statement that there is no such thing as a "christian homosexual." Yes, homosexuality is a sin, but we have all sinned. Is there no such thing as a christian sinner? I freely admit that I am a sinner, but I am still a Christian. I personally know people who have been introduced to non-judgemental christianity by listening to bands like Skillet and 12 Stones. There are musicians who have a God given talent, and there are others who have a satan given talent, and it is evident in the fruits of their music. I hope that answers your question. :)

What you've shown in this video, is a small number of bands that appear to have sold out to fame and fortune.
In the Old Testament, there is clear witness "Given by God", where people were inspired "BY GOD" to sing and play all manner of instruments in Praise to Him. Would you now take that praise away from God with how you seem to be judging "All Rock music".
Some rock music "is extreme", some not always peaceful to the ear, but shouldn't Jesus Christ be the judge of that - "Not You"?.

@JayEvangelist09 God - God Bless you for your comment, but God's Holy Word tells us different than what you have stated to me in your reply, please read (Luke 6:37) for the proof of this, God doesn't contradict Himself. Yes "one day" we will judge angels in Heaven, for scripture states this (1Corinthians 6:3), but notice how the scripture uses the word -"shall".
For now we're instructed to do what The Father tells us to do in His Holy Word and that is "not to judge or condemn" - God Bless :o)

I had never heard those two clips before in my life. But I could feel in my spirit that the first clip was unclean and dark, but the second clip didn't have a negative effect on my spirit. So if I could discern the difference between the two, doesn't that make Christian Rock ok, according to the logic of this video? Don't get me wrong though, I think all Christians should go back to the 1st century model for our worldview. How we eat, dress, live, the holidays we keep and everything.

Movies use music to convey a mood ALL the time! No lyrics, just the music. the music in a horror movie is going to be way different than the music in a romance. It defies common sense to say music is neutral. But as a culture we have totally lost common sense....

Great video - thanks! I hate it when stores play rock music, it's everywhere. It's not the lyrics I mind, it's the music. What a relief when I walk into a store playing classical. I just learned of an experiment done on mice who were played different kinds of music. They don't understasnd lyrics, but the ones who had to listen to heavy metal got stupider and more agressive each week. They might have even got stupid enough to believe music is neutral.

What I don't get is if I play one of my Christian bands' songs on an acoustic guitar I am told ,"Mmm, that's a nice Christian song", but add electric instruments, drums and we're told "Oh your Satanic!". ......WOW! Now come and cast the demons out of our guitar amps please!!!! Get the point, Christians have a right to entertainment in this world too and who knows, a non-Christian may get some inspiration too!. I like my music heavy and that's how I'll listen to it thanks!

Interesting. I've had some e mails asking me if I was a Christian from several guys and gals, and when I want to ask them a question they vanish. In answer to your questions, since you dont want to get too close, that depends . As for your cruel God who puts people directly on the path to a burning hell and condemns everything from music to candles and everything else, I dont believe in him. He is man made. You're scared of him and his hell fire, that's your Christianity.

I am a christian metal musicain and every second of our music is about christ and every show our only focus is to bring gloy to Christ and to show ppl his love and compassion so the will come to him. Bottom line I know when I stand before him at the end of my life I know he alone holds my heart and that I would never pass judgement on peple I have never held a conversation with. I also dont use the name of christ against his own kingdom...jesus him self said a kingdom devided cannot stand. JESUS

@corey543211 Right on my brother! In my late teens and early 20's I played guitar in a couple of bands. Being a Christian in a secular metal band was hard but not impossible. I had band mates that just wanted to drink and pop pills but I removed myself from that. I still went to practice and did a lot of writing for the bands. Sure, the lyrics were kind of dark, but it wasn't in my heart. I wanted to pass a message to people that life is "Dark", but the "Light" will ways win in the end.

@corey543211 my friend, if you are a metal musician, you have NO kingdom, there's nothing to be divided, you simply are not in His kingdom yet, demons worshiped Jesus, they fell on their faces-it did not made them Christian. True Holy Spirit cannot be present among heavy metal music, those who experienced True Holy Spirit will agree with me. Holy Spirit is tender, loving, You can suppress and hurt Him through sins, how much more with demonic music.

Who is a Christian and who is not is the best question in the world. A christian will condemn being gay, while another is proudly gay. They will condemn paganism, then practice it. They will preach being non judgemental, then judge harshly. They will preach Jesus, with no regard as to how he would see their actions. Then justify it all by saying they are only human. Who is a Christian, indeed that is the question.

We can all twist scripture to suit our own 'agenda/needs'. A prayerful & humble life, seeking truth in & through scripture can be the only way any will know or understand what we ALL should listen to for the edifying of our hearts, & for the glorifying of God.
Perhaps those who are angry or shocked at what this man is saying need to seek Gods counsel & not those who agree with their own thinking.

Apparently, Jeff believes that there are "things of Creation" that are inherently evil or good. As for David and Saul, it was not David's music that changed Saul's mood; it was God, Himself. Remember Saul threw the spear at David while he was playing. God gave us a world and things in it, but it is us that do evil with these created things that God gave to us. I'm sure Jeff's right about some things on this issue, but he's a bit confused on what's evil.
