Excellent instructions - we came home with a monkfish (head already off) from the fishmongers today and your guide was perfect - easy to follow and took no time at all. Thank you.
thanks! that was a wonderful and easy step by step to handle a monk fish! Never tried it before and bought myself one yesterday and will try to cook it today. Thanks again!
have to be careful of them out on the boat they can bite right though your boat and are hard to see when covered in spider crabs.i got bite by a baby one i could feel its teeth touching my foot though my boots
Great filleting videos. I have tried your techniques and it works every time. Ever thought of going on TV and showing these chefs a thing or to. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Fisherman get loads of this fish no matter what their target species is, I used to be a fisheries observer the northeast atlantic region and I remember seeing them tail these things, its a very slimy business...but fun and yes I have been bitten by a monkfish
Monkfish are bottom-dwellers & used to be considered a by-catch (because they were caught while targeting other fish species). Once they got the "poor man's lobster" title, they were targeted specifically. Unfortunately, in order to catch them, they trawl the sea floor & tear up the ecosystem down there.
yes this fish is also known as monk fish and this is the way of the fish, it gets names from different countrys so every fish has loads of different names.
did you record this with a potato?

jeez. monkfish isn't a cheap fish nowadays either. costs the equivalent of $22/lb in supermarkets in the UK.

That was so much easier than some of the methods used by "world renowned" chefs. Thanks for sharing that!! Post more!
