Now I understand why people say this boss was easy... I only ever tried to attack him when he was walking towards me, like in 1:30 for example. I had to hit him 12 times, because this one needed to be hit that much, and if I missed the timing just once he would kill me with those spikes...

When he pointed at me, I ran the other way and waited there until I saw him coming. As I was in the other part of the screen, I never discovered that you could hit him when the guy playing in this video does.

I'm not quite sure why but when I was a little kid watching my mother play this last boss fight it was really really intense for me and I don't remember if I ever tried doing this level. Having no rings to fight with didn't make me feel any better.

Thats the point with this boss, u have gotta be so careful when hitting him, sometimes when u hit him, u go through him and u die. so u have to plan it carefully and not go for it like that, good game play otherwise! xD

So yea, hooked up my old Sega for kicks and giggles, discovered Sonic one was short and easy, but Sonic 2 was much longer and more difficult. Got to this guy, and was damn glad I had 56 lives. It took me 39 lives to figure out how to beat this zone... All in all it was an awesome few hours of reminiscence.

There is a 'Super Sonic' in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis, but you need all 7 of the Chaos Emeralds, collect 50 rings after getting the emeralds, jump twice, and there you have it.

Though, I am curious, besides using cheats, is there a way to collect rings in the Death Egg Zone?

Also no offense but this guy misses dozens of opportunities for hits. When Robotnik pulls in his spikes and gets ready to fly up, you can jump and hit him then. If you're good you can even hit him in mid-step, at the point where his spikes are drawn in while he swings his arms.

@autopreneur Centipede in Sonic 2 game gear. Its jaws take up about the screen, it conitually spits bombs at you, you can only attack it by jumping between the jaws WHILE ITS FIRING BOMBS, and you cant pick up rings again.

After that, yeah he might be the hardest

This boss isn't too hard but it is easy to die. But if you think this is hard then get Sonic Adventure 2 battle for the Gamecube and fight the Biolizard. He is a NIGHTMARE.

When he lands and ducks down obviously is the best chance to hit him but also when he is about to take off, his legs contract a bit right before, this is also a great opportunity to hit him as well, but this guy doesn't do that. If he had, the fight would have been a lot shorter.

Dang he missed 3 hits when D.R. got into his machine. One hit as soon as he gets in before he moves, the 2nd other when he takes the last and stops, and the 3rd when he takes a step back before taking off. The 4th is risky.
